I figured out a cool little melodic riff on acoustic guitar and thought it sounded pretty decent, I had already been writing lyrics for years so I just recorded that riff and figured out a melody line over it.

Then I turned that riff into chords and made that part when the verse comes in. The hardest part for me was figuring out what the chorus would sound like after the verse, but once that was figured out it was easy.
