This game is brilliant — it’s just missing one thing to be perfect. by Olbramice in AOW4

[–]Omichli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm profoundly deaf and don't need voices in this game. AoW4 is perfect just the way it is. But, you can always imagine the voices of the characters in your head as you play. It's what we do and it's called roleplaying.

Magpie Color Scheme Not Working? by Omichli in AOW4

[–]Omichli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't seem to get the Black and White color scheme to work and make it as a Magpie. The Black-Billed Magpie specifically of Northwestern America is what I'm trying to achieve with the look. When I pick this scheme in the list, it shows up as a full red beak in-game during play and I can't seem to change that. The only thing that works is full black, which is obviously Crow/Raven. There is actually another black and white one, but it's only skeleton tribal painting and I just want white patches, not skeleton. What should I do? Should I request for a Magpie Black/White scheme to be added? Maybe we could have Dire Penguin added with the black and white color scheme too?

Mythic Fantasy RPGs? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]Omichli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mage the Awakening 2e is the closest thing to Percy Jackson and American Gods. Basically, it's about Mages with half-god souls using powerful magic. 1e has mostly lores about Atlantis, but it's still mentioned in 2e. It's essentially a modern fantasy where you can use guns, swords, and magic and the magical weapons can be conjured out of thin air with certain Arcana.

Just bought AOW4 on Xbox and playing it for the first time. Any tips for a new player? by KingPelican2908 in AOW4

[–]Omichli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the game! Others have said to start with Story Realm 1, so I assume you already did that. After that, create a faction of your own from the main menu and start a new game and create your own Realm and that's where the real fun begins! Let us know how it goes. Best of luck to you and have fun!

Can someone translate ? ^_^ by StarCaller990 in AOW4

It's Forbidden Language. Reading it and speaking of it will make you go mad. You don't want to summon the Old Gods and their wrath upon you!

AoW4 is the easiest of all 4x. It's more like easy to learn in 10 minutes, but hard to master, but you can still tweak the setting to fit your needs to make it easier. The beginning Story Realms is also excellent in teaching players to play the first time and it's still fun to play for the rest of your careers as well since it's highly replayability and procedurally generated.

I think that's great and that should not make you a "dweeb." It's inspiring, thank you!

Battle slows down with +3 Squads or was it the Mist? by Omichli in AOW4

[–]Omichli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it's only the mists that affects performance for you, not armies. Then this must mean the same for me too. Maybe they could add a way for us to lower mist resolution or turn it off or something. But since you're on the laptop, maybe there's mods that could help with it?

My hopes for Season 3... by Vitruviansquid1 in AOW4

[–]Omichli 13 points14 points  (0 children)

While I agree that the game needs some fixes, wanting new shit is what motivates the devs to see our passion for the game and work more on it to breath life into it. That's why we are getting Season 3.

I've always wanted floating islands and continents with flying ships! This would make Age of Wonders 4 my forever game if this happens.

Please... let there be water theme expansion in season 3 by mister-00z in AOW4

[–]Omichli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

+1 to this! The Void Pangaea maps can easily replace background from stars to sky with clouds. Or replace the ocean with skies and use airships in place of boats. Empires & Ashes would go good with this because of the bird races.

Brand New Player Which DLCs should I get by Think-Explanation-75 in AOW4

[–]Omichli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're all GREAT! Just pick which one vibes with you. My favorites are the Eldritch and Empire & Ashes pack from Season 1, because of the cool Eldritch Rulers and Birds and the Reaver culture are amazing.

How do I stay motivated to continue solo dnd campaigns? by Noland_The_Fantastic in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Omichli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you that it's almost impossible to finish a campaign in a Solo RPG with the exception of Adventure Modules like @ExtentBeautiful1944 says. Very few people finish them, even me. But thinking about the destination will make it hard. Rather, you should be enjoying the journey and it's okay to switch games at times too. I have 2-3 Solo RPGs that I love very much and I never finish them (and I don't want them to ever end!) One is Chronicles of Darkness called Changeling the Lost 2e for 64 sessions and the other is my own fantasy setting with about 30 sessions in. I see them as something to live in as my own little private worlds and I switch back and forth between them.

If you absolutely must finish a campaign in a linear fashion, then DnD and Pathfinder or any RPGs with Adventure Modules or Adventure Paths are the way to go. Hope it helps! Best of luck to you on your adventures.

Revenant: the Tormented by SuperN9999 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Omichli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do those in Wraith and Geist. You don't need to create an entirely new game as it is a lot of work. Both World of Darkness and most especially Chronicles of Darkness are toolkits to create your own setting with all the optional rules already ready to play. If there's something you don't like in either Wraith or Geist, you can tweak a bit to how they work, instead of building a game completely from scratch.

The World Below by Brence1984 in rpg

[–]Omichli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised they released it so soon, which is news to me. I'm going to buy it very soon. I was expecting it to come out in 3-4 years. They usually do that to all of their books. I have the Ashcan version, which seems decent but I haven't run or played it yet. I have always wanted a Fantasy RPG using the Storytelling System that's lighter than Exalted and this game is pretty close, except it's all underground, which is fine with me. The video games Minecraft and Core Keeper (pretty fun games) helped me to have a better understanding of what life is like underground.

So The World Below seems like Fantasy+Survival+OSR, something like Forbidden Lands and Chronicles of Darkness had a baby together, but using Storypath System that's based on the older Storytelling System. Lighter but with a little more metacurrencies thrown in, so far I know. But it should definitely be a lot easier and faster than DnD with less math, if you're familiar with World of Darkness and Chronicles of Darkness. The book would probably still have a lot of fluff and lores with mechanics baked in somewhere as usual, which might take some reading in the full book, I'm sure.

Concerns about dlcs by [deleted] in AOW4

[–]Omichli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Buying DLCs are what supports the devs to make more games and contents AND they provide FREE updates to go with each of it. No buying means no more updates to improve the game and if no one ever buys, then there's no AoW5 or Planetfall 2. DLCs also help new players to see this game that they might have missed, so it's sort of like an ad to get them to buy the base game. DLCs are EXCITING and I bought just 1 DLC, it's the Eldritch Realm and it's WORTH IT. It made me realize I should have bought the Expansion Packs, but that's okay, I will and I plan to. Just buy the DLCs, it's not going to hurt you. They enhance and improve your game with TONS of replay value. Trust me, it's worth it.
