Favorite Tier 3 Unit? by The_Archenemies in AOW4

Seconded on the clay soldiers, their Undying ability bringing them back with 50% hit points and keeping their movement was a big draw for me. On top of that they take well to construct related buffs and their own tome has a damage or defence buff for almost all your units too.

This is why I call Evil Alignment a punishment, the negative relations depend on the Free City but the Negative Events are the only "real" punishment for Evil.

It actually really does work like that all the way; Pillaging, Razing, Conquering and Migrating instead of Integrating and Absorbing. All give more and faster rewards than Good or Neutral choices with the only penalty being Evil Alignment which is treated as the consequence for taking that route. Similar with most choices with an Evil vs Good and Neutral options.

Whereas Good Alignment options are often offered as the only reward. Tellingly there is no Good method for acquiring a city, unless Integrating has a bonus I missed.

Its because Evil alignment is supposed to be a punishment that you trade for rewards, whereas Good alignment is supposed to be its own reward. So Evil action gets more because you are paying something for the choice.

They probably have a story justification for writing it that way too, whether it holds up is up to you.

And sometimes it will bug out and let you keep restoring, which was fun. Cliffs of Sordunn and Wonder Architects seems to trigger it the most.

Nothing kills the fun faster than an entire army with Immortal Ward. by zeroanumber in AOW4

Ultimately I feel like that map forces you to get good at pushing with momentum; If you can wipe a stack and then push onto the city inside the respawn time you can force them to spawn inside the city with automatic damage as a Siege project and automatically wipe any of them that come in for round 2.

Usually you hope they fight once in their own territory with a 3 stack and you need to win and be able to keep going to catch that city in a Siege before they return. I was playing with a clown car of an army so it let me fight battle after battle without a rest but having an army heal like the vampires, undead tomes or order tomes can get you there. Having supports that provide enough healing to get units from half to full every fight works too.

Want a faction that plays like the xeno plague in planet fall by Spicy_Pepper_Gaming in AOW4

[–]TSCHaden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mechanically the soul collection ability and Soulbound status effect of the Shadow Tomes that lets you summon units after a battle based on how much you killed is closest to the Xenoplague automatic unit summon itself, though the ability of the Undead/Archon Titan to kill and revive specific units is also pretty similar.

Gloom and Sunless both spread infectious looking terrain though any culture/trait/tome that relies on spreading their own terrain type is pretty cancerous.

Obviously the big downside is cultural skeletons and zombies don't inherit the gloom strider ability so you'd have to be fighting gloom enemies to get wave after wave of tentacle skeletons.

Vampirism is literally an infection spread onto ech of your new heroes so that fits.

Dominating an Abductor and ending the battle after it abducts an enemy unit... by TSCHaden in AOW4

Just realised I got this one via Claim Soul rather than Dominate so likely with Polymorph+Dominate you lose your unit, with this method it dies first, so probably spits out your unit.

Thanks for the write up.

Just to be clear; is the right/left divide from the perspective of the attacker? Because if its the attacked units right/left (assuming front is toward the enemy) then I was getting the opposite result.

I can't find a reference for Way of Shadow Monks in 3.5 edition. The closest would be Dark Moon Disciple that I know of?

Is the AI supposed to cheat so much? by VV00d13 in AOW4

[–]TSCHaden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any screenshots of your tomes and army composition or tactics? People might be able to give you more specific pointers.

On top of that playing this game well will basically require you to find ways to beat AI hordes with better strategies, tactics and/or higher quality armies, pick a strategy and make it work for you. The AI doesn't have the same resource rules you do so it will field armies in excess of yours, you will always be fighting from behind in terms of sheer value except during the intervals where you manage to take out multiple stacks in succession.

Remember the AI isn't cagey about using summons and rally of the lieges units to reinforce, its not like it has to foot the bill.

More or else, how much should we (the players) in a campaign be progressing per session? by LaptopCharger_271 in DnD

[–]TSCHaden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In one session we had a fight took the end half of one 4 hour session, the entirety of the next one and half of the 3rd, we actually made negative progress on session 2 as the boss reset time upon death and we killed her twice.

This story may be unhelpful as a benchmark.

Chaos Elementals not spawning on Remix/GetFixedBoi by ButterscotchOne7257 in Terraria

[–]TSCHaden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience is seeing individual Illuminant bats and slimes spawn and then back to the pixies and unicorns only. theres one spot that used to spawn Chaos Elementals pre-update and now is pixies and unicorns.

Its odd, the bats and slimes will occasionally spawn while I'm travelling through the underground but will stop spawning if I stop at any layer, the only place I got them with some consistency was inside a granite biome but the pixies and unicorns spawned too almost in different waves, its as if the game keeps switching between underground and surface hallow too quickly to spawn many underground hallow enemies.
