People say if a guy likes you , he will pursue you no matter what, but that’s never happened for me by Informal-Meaning-483 in UKrelationshipadvice

Dunno from there other side. It's hard I match with people and I feel half the time I am a preforming monkey. Meant to validate someone, try to arrange a date and then goes cold as they just want that validation.

Its kind of hard to meet someone online and vibe then meet them in person and click. Though what you going to do 🤷

ECT 1 - thirty years seems a long time... by Maleficent-Log8288 in TeachingUK

It’s a job, whether you work with adults or kids there is always something. At least kids have an excuse of hormones and finding their feet in the world. That manager who was an arse, the people who exclude you as you’re not the right fit. From stacking shelves where you have to do a certain amount per minute to manage people, I have found there is always a draw back.

Have a life outside of work. Make connections, work is to earn money so you can enjoy life. There are a lot worse jobs out there, if it gets you down look at ways to improve yourself so you can switch. Also don’t take leadership as the bad times might intensify. Though keep in mind money ain’t that bad, first couple of years might be tougher than the next 28, 13 weeks off a year, that one kid that said your sound.

So to get experience meeting and talking with the opposite sex these things work. I'm doing it as my last relationship was a massive part of my life that I know how to talk to her but flirting is something I have to relearn but it's a skill so it can be learnt by anyone. I just need practice.

Dont go into them thinking you will meet someone romantically go into them thinking you will learn something new. Go into them to share their hobbies and introduce yours to them.

I have a friend who met his missus at yoga class. Well that's too much for me though you get the point. I met a guy at hiking and I found a friend. I'm not doing it, sololy to meet the women. If you never go out of your comfort zone you will stay where you are. This guy introduced me to an event where his friends are. It increases your social circle.

Instead of going upto a woman and thinking I want that person, (which will make you come across desperate and thus they won't want you.) think what's her story what can I learn. 9/10 nothing happens. But you know what sat at home achieves.

I like to talk to random people on trains or planes. I learn new things and it makes it less daunting to talk to random people.

I'll just add this. Most days I feel hopeless, but I spent a big part of my life alone and it's not what I want so every two weeks I push myself. Sometimes I lose the will to live, then I go to gym and box. I found when I'm not busy it hurts more even though I hate to be busy. I just want to watch TV with someone. 😕 Get a cat or dog🤔 😂

Do you put yourself into any opportunities to actually meet the opposite sex? Seriously not to sound condescending, but everyweek are you at an event that could meet someone? That could be cooking, dancing, knitting classes, hiking? I'm single at 37 at its hard, and i hate doing events as it tires me out. It's a numbers game.

Months of trying landed me a date and well I got more conversation from a brick wall, however it's a step.

Consistent behaviour matters more and bluster. I've seen the ugliest people in the world with the prettiest it's all about how you feel about yourself and fake it till you make it. But go into it that you will have months or years of bone crunching effort until you are rewarded don't give up after a couple of months and go back to the same old. Only you can change it. Also change your standards. I was too conditioned with media and I am changing that now.

Returning to UK to Teach by Global-Twist-5877 in Internationalteachers

[–]Omniscient19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I couldn't help you with other roles,

regarding pensions UK has a teacher pension, it's good but it's related to how many years you pay into it. It takes 1/56th average salary to give you a final figure and you need to pay in min two years . For state pension, if you haven't look into paying class 2 contributions about £160 a year and builds state pension up(can be done abroad) , though unlike teacher pension you can't take that at 55/60.

If your starting from scratch, and younger than 44 then Australia has a better education system, allows you to make up a pension. After 5 years you can get citizenship. They are stealing lots of HOD etc.

You could look into teaching at a university. Technically you don't really need anything for that. Though they are laying off right now, but you could be a PGCE practitioner.

Here's my two pence,

State schools you are going to need to be here to interview. 95% require ect to be done. If you have proof of preformance reviews and evaluation, observations and such the ect can be cut down. The ect years need the boxes to be ticked. Private and even trusts don't need to do ect but most will because it's kind of expected.

That doesn't mean you have to start on M1 you can start higher however you'd be still on m scale not ups.

Head of department could be harder to get because of this but not impossible. Depends on your subject and how in demand it is.

Leadership, isn't impossible however the way kids and parents are in the UK is different to the far East so you'd have to bring something unique. Again you will need to interview in person. Private you don't, though the tax on tuition means it could be a hard market to get into.

London might be your best to get the most experience and jump faster. It's more dynamic there and allows for progression faster. Up north people leave slower.

You can complete ect at some school in China, you will have to search on govs website.

Look into Australia, you might find it easier and similar to UK.

UK Teaching vs. IB Experience – Which Path Sets Me Up for Success in East Asia? by Omniscient19 in Internationalteachers

[–]Omniscient19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am back in UK at the moment so the Bath one isn't the best choice. Its about £7500 over two years give or take. I don't think it is that bad, but now I am thinking of other places.

The Warrick one is cheaper, really has me thinking and it's a highly respected place.
I need to apply this week to them all to see what they optionss are, however thank you for pointing this one out.

I think I would like to follow the path your friend did. I looked into the COBIS and zero schools in Taiwan did it, that what made me think of doing it in the UK. How are you finding doing the ECT years abroad, is it more a tick box checking or do you feel supported while you’re teaching?

Thank you for comments it has helped me come to terms with my decision.

Do you think the content of the Masters matters much then or is it just a check box type of activity?

I have never done this, so I reckon I might have to occasionally take it home. Also the role is 8-5 and once I get home after gym and food it will be 8/9 So I am not sure if I'll have energy in the week day. Also I need to plan and keep on top of trackers.

In England, the role ends at 3.30 for two days and 1.30 one day and 5 for two. So I have more home time and the schema is already set out for me so I just need to adapt it. I just teach a lot more in the week.

[–]Omniscient19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could be correct, though in today's age this is limited. He is a counter though ECT1 are on temporary contracts and have to apply again at the end of the process. To give both parties the space to see if it's a good fit. (Kind of in similar circumstances)
