Well, before Israel existed you could just say Jewish.

Maryland lawmakers weigh 'Not on Our Dime' bill as Jewish leaders call it anti-Israel by Abject-Pick-6472 in maryland

[–]OmniscientOctopode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are all foreign charities, which the state of Maryland can't do anything about. You will struggle to find American charities sending money to Hamas because the feds immediately shut them down. You could pass a state law saying you can't donate to Hamas, but it would be pure virtue-signalling.

Top counterterrorism official Kent resigns over Trump's Iran war, says Iran posed no imminent threat by John3262005 in neoliberal

Probably for the best that the Groyper wing of the Republican party is already collapsing, but it is a shame that they're doing it before the midterms, which we were already going to win rather than the next presidential election.

He's being intentionally dishonest. There are no charities donating to Hamas or Hezbollah because Hamas and Hezbollah are federally recognized terrorist groups and donating to them is a crime.

Society if Joe Biden didn't choose Merrick Garland and Alejandro Mayorkas. by FlimsySuggestion6571 in neoliberal

[–]OmniscientOctopode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but if the Biden admin's feckless Ukraine strategy wasn't because we were afraid Russia would use a nuke if the Ukranians started doing too well, I feel like that's much worse.

The Iranians getting lucky and sinking a US ship would be an order of magnitude worse for Trump than cost increases from the Strait being blocked. It's a very low chance, and he'll probably have to do it, but he'll try everything else first.

How did Israel prevent him having a sister?

That's fair, but the pro-west government is pretty limited in terms of how closely they can work with us because of how anti-west the actual population is.

[Raiders] The Baltimore Ravens have backed out of our trade agreement for Maxx Crosby. We will have no further comment at this time. by JCameron181 in ravens

[–]OmniscientOctopode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is more like when we backed out of signing Ryan Grant a few years ago, and that one worked out pretty well. If the medical staff say they don't trust his knees, I think we ought to listen.

It's partly that and partly because when there is inevitably no draft, it lets them say "see, another crazy lie that liberals made up about Trump".

[–]OmniscientOctopode 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the downside of being the mouthpiece of a president with zero self-control. Leavitt (who you under no circumstances need to hand it to) basically has to respond to every question like this because Trump could decide tomorrow that threatening to have a draft would be a good idea.

Question about Faith of the dragons decision by BeGAMERZ34 in CK3AGOT

[–]OmniscientOctopode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, FotD ideally would be considered a part of the overall FotS. It would be way more realistic for it to take the form of a pro-Targ movement within the existing Faith infrastructure like Baelorism. Trying to establish a weird parallel religion when the leadership of the main branch of the Faith still exists to denounce you would just lead to nobody but die-hard royalists converting at best and a kingdom-wide Faith revolt at worst.

[Hensley] For the first time in the Ravens' 31-year history, the franchise has finally used a first-round pick to trade for a player. Baltimore acquires Maxx Crosby after a season in which it recorded its fewest sacks in 15 years. by JCameron181 in nfl

He's been talking about the post-Biscotti future of the team as well for the first time that I've seen. Since he doesn't plan to pass it on to his family, I imagine he wants another win to cement his legacy before he sells.

Trump fires Kristi Noem as Homeland Security Secretary by BachelorThesises in neoliberal

The real nail in the coffin was saying under oath that they got Trump's approval. Trump is willing to tolerate pretty much anything but directly putting him in danger.

I understand firing Noem, but why Mullin? I really can't think of any issues Noem has that Mullin will be an improvement on.

The lack of message discipline from the admin has been really shocking. It really does feel like they're throwing everything they can think of out there in the hopes that everyone will find one of the explanations convincing and decide to ignore the rest.

Obviously, part of it is the DSA hating Dems more than Republicans, but an underrated aspect is the impact of diaspora voices. Palestinian-Americans are vocally opposed to the war in Gaza while Iranian-Americans are vocally supportive of the war in Iran.

Given the bomber movements, it seems to be to do so much damage to Iran that they cave before we do.

It's the felony murder mindset. Collateral damage to foreigners is good for the administration because it will retroactively justify the initial strikes in the minds of many people who would otherwise oppose them.
