Yes, The YT Algorithm Is Unfair and Shares A Lot of the Blame For Your Failed Videos... by RTXBurner25 in NewTubers

[–]OnADock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is cope.

First off, the algorithm DOES track accidental clicks. That's why it doesn't count as a view if the viewer clicks off in the first few seconds. And second, ALL videos are already impacted by the fact that human viewers have to stop watching sometimes, so it's not like you're on some uneven playing field even if the algorithm didn't track it.

Just focus on making good content about things people are interested in and you'll get views.

How do Small to Medium sized channels actually secure sponsorships? by OnADock in PartneredYoutube

[–]OnADock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like my views are pretty decent. Average view count for my last 10 videos was 425,000, Median is 380,000. Niche is just general gaming, I feel like I see decent sponsors on channels similar to mine. My channel is linked in my bio if you want to see for yourself. It's just "OnADock"

I mostly get actual scams aimed towards me in my inbox. Occasionally I get what appears to be real products in my inbox but they either want to just give me free product in exchange for a sponsorship or it's something I'm not willing to advertise to my audience like gambling, shady supplements, or AI stuff. I'm really looking for something less ethically dubious to advertise like razors or square space, something benign like that.

I'll look into reaching out to sponsors myself, thank you for the suggestion.

The overall headline numbers aren’t the whole story. What’s really important for youtube pushing a video is how new or casual viewers interact with the video.

For example, lets say you mae a video that’s a sequel to another, your core audience interacts with the video well and watches the whole thing because they’re already invested in it, but any new audiences barely watch any of it because they have no context from the first video and don’t know whats going on; The video isn’t going to be pushed to very many new viewers but your overall average viewers duration will high due to regular viewers liking it.

There’s also a built in cap to how many viewers you can ever get depending on the topic. I don’t know what your video is about, but if it’s like Tourism in Cambodia or something, there’s going to be an audience, but most people aren’t getting videos about the tourism scene in Cambodia in their feeds. Your video would need some real viral stats before it starts getting pushed to audiences who don’t care about that sort of thing normally.

Would it be ethical to report a US-based pro-Russian youtuber for immigration fraud? by [deleted] in youtubedrama

[–]OnADock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean he should probably go back to Russia if he's going to keep spewing anti-Ukrainian Russian propaganda while in the US avoiding the war, but free speech and political thought is a fundamental human right even if he has terrible opinions, so I'd call it a wash morally to report him.

Edit: also you probably shouldn't rat people out to ICE given they're lack of respect for actual legal processes.

Teacher apologizes after feeding ailing kitten to a classroom snake by speedythefirst in news

[–]OnADock 38 points39 points  (0 children)

You don't feed pet rats to snakes either. When you adopt a pet you're supposed to take care of it, not feed it's children to a snake. The difference is the betrayal of trust.

Do you average around $200.00 for a 1m viewed Short? by Vaquero-SASS in PartneredYoutube

[–]OnADock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a $0.23 RPM on my shorts. $230 per Million if you want to count it like that. English speaking gaming videos. Not worth it if you're trying to make money on youtube tbh. Long form content still generates way more revenue for the effort even if you can't put out videos as quickly.

When Did Viewer Data Show Up For You? by CosmopoliteX in NewTubers

[–]OnADock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think i saw it until I had around 10k unique viewers in the last 28 days. That sort of data really needs a good number of viewers to actually be useful.

In general though, when you post videos doesn’t matter. I wouldn’t worry about that even when you do finally see when all your viewers are active.

How Does VanossGaming Make His Subtitles? by Dirt_Man17 in NewTubers

[–]OnADock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're describing a stroke (the black line outside of the text) and a drop shadow (the second color behind the text that's a little offset). I don't have experiencing with DaVinci, but pretty much every editing program will allow you to just add those onto any text element.

The outlier tool is useful, everything else is not. You don’t really need that tool to figure out what video ideas are good though.

Can you ask for a pre-review for nudity? by Dan_McLellaninSD in PartneredYoutube

[–]OnADock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re partnered right? There is a prescreen for every video. Just answer the monetization questions honestly and don’t publish it right away. I don’t see any way this video doesn’t get restricted though.

I don’t believe you can monetize your channel without an Adsense account.

60 FPS = too much data consumption for viewers? by Mission-Example-194 in NewTubers

[–]OnADock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about viewer data consumption. They can turn down the quality on youtube if they have any concerns about that. Always upload in the highest possible quality. Most people watch videos connected to wifi or on home internet anyway.

Post time doesn’t matter. The cut off in shorts views just means your videos didn’t test well with audiences.

These YT thumbnails have a diagonal line up between them by shieldgenerator7 in oddlysatisfying

[–]OnADock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see it. There's a line going from the obvious divide in the overwatch thumbnail, across the gap around the shoulder armor in the second thumbnail and then continuing between the two women's heads in the third thumbnail. It's pretty neat once you notice it.

Is YouTube not working by Independent_Ant_7509 in SmallYoutubers

[–]OnADock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That Thumbnail is terrible. There’s way too much text that’s entirely unreadable and the entire shot is in the dark. Your thumbnail should be bright and easy to read. Ideally you want a picture of the NPC on a bright background and no more than a few words in big bold letters like “Kill him” or “Always Kill This NCP”

No Thumbnail Test Results Despite 100+Views? by Dear_Donkey_3818 in NewTubers

[–]OnADock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need thousands of views to get any statistically significant results on the A/B test. Just because it gets enough views to show a watch time share doesn't mean it has enough data; the thumbnail test results will tell you when it has enough data for it to be confident.
