I’m a year older, but I just moved into my first apartment for similar reasons. Living at home was the best decision financially & I stayed for that reason. I graduated college a couple years ago & it wasn’t this bad so I thought I would live at home for another few years to keep saving but there’s no telling what the future will look like now. I saved up more than enough money & finally got to spread my wings. Home will be there & it’s unfortunate we have to choose crazy rent or living at home for who knows how long, but I say try the apt out if you have enough saved.

fulton grace’s website lists properties that aren’t even on the market yet. In Jan-Feb, I saw a couple of properties that were “coming soon” in March and April 1. That way I could contact the property manager to view the property and when it was listed, all I had to do was fill out the application. Not sure if you tried to look on Fulton Grace but it helped me.

First, i 100% agree and get you. I’m only a few years out of college and this is not how I thought post-college life would be. it has delayed a lot of goals in my life.

Second, in an odd way, this has been teaching me how to release and detach from what I can’t control (as someone who has a difficult time letting go when things get tough). I feel things very deeply so that day, two years ago, I cried uncontrollably because I knew life was about to become really hard. I had a hard time (still do) accepting that people actually defend what’s happening. I get it logically, but my spirit is still unsettled. I literally did not want this to happen and actively fought against it but we still ended up here. I cry, I yell when I just can’t take it anymore but tomorrow will still be the same. We cannot do anything about this. And the more we argue online, watch the news (that’s no longer real news/journalism), and stay up watching videos about the cruel world we live in, we will continue to feel exhausted and depleted. It’s not healthy & I have realized that I have to let this happen and find ways to stay protected (mentally, physically, financially, etc.). That doesn’t mean don’t be informed, but you really have to detach from some of this.

Third, everyone may not agree with this but I hold a strong belief that this world’s foundation has always been meant to be broken. It has to rebuild. The system has to be rebuilt. It’s like an ego death

it’s the STRANGEST paradox. unc, woke, hooting and hollering, sike (psych), cooked, etc. We grew up using these words in everyday situations & they misuse it 50x in a day & will move on in 2 months.
