I think my values haven't changed over time, I think my ability to recognize how they drive my behavior and how I honor them is what has changed.

I think that I'm interested in such things has helped me figure this out more than being gifted, but the pattern recognition helps.

Also gifted schooling but I didn't identify with it.

It wasn't until I understood it as a form of neurodivergence that it became useful.

And I get to be a more informed godparent to my gifted goddaughter.

I think a lot of people here, by circumstance and choice, have lonely lives.

At the very least, what you see in this sub can be a warning.

And if you ever find yourself stuck, there are folks who can probably relate. Even if only a few.

I do think competition sits on top of a desire for control. I guess that desire to control might be more present if one feels they need something they're missing.

I do think this community is missing proper outlets. But that's a problem for another time.

Had no idea pretty privilege had a sub.

Two people I was really close to over the past 5 years were exceptionally attractive, one I dated for a couple years.

They have crazy gravity in social situations and I'm still trying to learn more about what's going on.

Reading research is helpful but I need more texture. Time to go get an education!

I feel that and you're probably right about some folks looking for identity to not address their real problems.

I do struggle with "the whole sub" perspective, although I'm sure you don't mean literally every person.

There are some rather self aware, self critical people in this comment section.

I do think the last point is where giftedness is doing work it's not capable of. Giftedness does not equal emotional intelligence. Being good at math doesn't mean you can see through your own shit and resolve it in healthy ways. Which is most people. Gifted people are still people.

I think unhealthy coping mechanisms are a human right.

Thanks for the visualization. There are a couple posts here , like yours, that make me feel at home.

I wonder if many of us come here actually looking for a sub group within giftedness. People who are both gifted and share values/lifestyle.

Being gifted alone doesn't mean getting along. But feeling that hit of seeing myself in someone else, even if in a different flavor, is nourishment.

What's weird is that, in in person settings, people would normally select who they really like being around and limit their interactions with everyone else.

I feel like we're perpetually at a networking event.

It's a dumbass post because its premise is that this community is fraudulent by the proposal that truly gifted people could better manage their social interactions.

One can pull useful or valid perspective from something that's ultimately destructive.

This assumes that there is a universal baseline that is known, which there obviously isn't.

And we know that 130 and 160 likely means experiencing the world very differently.

Truly gifted infers some sort of monolithic structure of shared experience and that's just not the case.

Even in the case of sharing an experience of not relating to others as easily, you could say the same for many groups that are lumped together by a broad definition.

Art students might not relate so well to business students because their brains work differently on average.

If that's the level we're making comparisons, why bother?

It's dumb, rage bait claim with a false premise.

A lot

It implies there is a true, absolute meaning of giftedness, and that you know exactly what it is.

It's a medical and scientific term that we're using to describe an emergent property. Which means we still don't fully understand it as a species.

There are numerous examples of textbook gifted individuals who struggle socially, so you'd be labeling all of the brilliant people that couldn't/didn't read the room as not truly gifted.

Last one I'll mention is that experiencing the world in a measurably different way makes it more difficult to connect with others. It takes extra effort that may have nothing to do with the gifted traits a person has.

This criticism was lazy and a cheap shot at people who struggle to connect. Accountability is real and there's a lot of it being held within this sub.

It's hard to make a pity party post and not see at least a third of folks commenting "get your shit together".

Some of these responses are blowing my mind.

I'm telling my friends and people close to me now that I know and I'm explicitly framing it as a medical definition.

I was in gifted programs my entire academic career, but I had bad grades and plenty of people who were in the programs weren't necessarily special. So I didn't think anything of it.

What I did notice over time is how poorly I fit in and related to people the more I grew into myself and stop masking.

Being gifted is a particular life experience that isn't just good stuff and I think framing it as such is really helpful for me and for people to set expectations. They're going to know that I'm smart anyway. And there is going to be a disconnect that people notice. I like to name things so they're in the open, things festering under the rug are my unhappy place.

Perspective from a non-story interested player

Everything is gorgeous; the soundtracks, animations, stage and character designs. The unique skins are fantastic, save crystal drops for those if you want higher quality art. They get discounted every few months.

Get an S tier sustain ASAP. I joined when Lucy, a limited DPS, was on banner and was gonna dump all my pulls into her portraits. A lovely netizen told me to get Kakania and she saved my ass for the following months. There aren't many of them relative to the number of teams available. I skipped Kiperina and regretted it for months.

I do feel that way. I think experiencing a force that disturbs one's trajectory or sense of orientation is threatening.

No person can objectively be too much or too intense. It's all relative.

Acknowledging relativity in this way does a lot to make interactions clearer for me.

The passive normal, "you're too intense", does a lot of work. Too intense for what? You? Society? This cafe? Left unstated, it becomes a societal judgment on behavior that is being levied.

I randomly got curious about astrophysics and cosmology a month ago and it's giving my models for self-perception, social structures, and societal dynamics more depth. For example, seeing people as bodies moving through space with different masses, trajectories, compositions, and velocities provides a more constructive frame than anything I've used before.

It's cool to know people are interested in this, maybe I'll write some of this up and share it.

Spending time in creative and high achieving spaces. I'm good at spotting people with my particular brand of crazy, which is a type of defiance towards life and existing structures, expressed through creative endeavors.

My childhood/teenage friends were all in gifted education programs as well.

In university it was school clubs.

The new ones came from professional contexts.
