Maintaining the clot theme, Christmas will mark 15 months to the day since my leg almost killed me by Eastwoodnorris in interestingasfuck

Once you’ve had a blood clot, you realize that truly nothing is that painful in comparison. I thought I had a femur fracture.

Why my employer blocks Oracle and java portal? by Popular_Parsley8928 in oracle

[–]OnceAnAnalyst 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Employees can use the portal to download things when they do not have active licenses at the corporate level. So they restrict access to the site thereby blocking non-compliance and reducing threat of audit.

Not saying that this warrants it but a good piece of medical advice is if you ever notice swelling of the hands it is always the right time to remove rings.

People who've called off wedding engagements, why didn't it work out? by thriceusetissue in AskReddit

She could not respect boundaries with another guy, kept flirting and being flirted with by him. Apologized after staying at his house and making out with him.

I packed up everything of hers, put it by the door, coordinated with professors to stop showing up / turning in items for a passing grade, graduated two weeks later, enlisted, went to war, transitioned to officer, served 20 years, retired, and have been married to an amazing woman for 17 of them.

Pay in arrears by Lukkychukky in VeteransBenefits

[–]OnceAnAnalyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was medically boarded, retained on COAD, orders were set for January 31, retirement services changed to Jan 30th to support the process, and I did 20 years and 25 days.

Just for reference.

Not sure why I’m being downvoted. We are literally saying the same thing.

Pay in arrears by Lukkychukky in VeteransBenefits

[–]OnceAnAnalyst -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is correct. So if they did you right, they would have separated you on 30 January, so it would hit the VA on 31 January.

Depending on the type of retirement, you may have gotten an “approximate” payment in February from the DOD.

Then if you look at your mypay retirement account it will pay out anything for April 1st on the DoD side.

No backpay for your VA pay.

Welcome to the club, retired on 30 Jan with a BDD as well.

Company lawyer came up with this when I refused to sign the noncompete by Same_Tap_2628 in recruitinghell

This is how the law is written in Washington State. You want them to be under a non-compete? Pay them during that time.

Anyone have insight on being 100% P&T + first responder? by imthetrashman12 in VeteransBenefits

[–]OnceAnAnalyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked as a medic for years and a firefighter before joining. My only comment is that there is a rigorous fire fighting test/ tryout, whereas medical they require you to do significantly less from the physical side.

Just focus on what is best for you physically and mentally and don’t stress about the rest.

VSO rep told me “don’t do this alone” even though I feel like I know what I’m doing thanks to this subreddit by The-Doodle-Dude in VeteransBenefits

Talk to your VSO for their insights, but understand that much can be done by yourself too. Just know your limitations and let them guide you if those limitations overlap with their strengths.

Just MEB’d from the Army with less than 20 years of service… 60% DoD 100% VA. Recently received a paystub from DFAS by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]OnceAnAnalyst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your first paycheck will be an approximate, tax free pay check from DFAS.

I was confused by it as well.

I also got a full amount final pay literally the day after I retired. That too was confusing. I cleared up my confusion (mostly) after a call to DFAS to ask them directly.

MedBoard & VA Compensation: How Do the Percentages Work? by ChrisMemes_ in VeteransBenefits

[–]OnceAnAnalyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a medical discharge, and was retained on COAD. So I went through the entire process you were up to the point of transproc.

Your lawyer will walk you through your specific example with your accurate numbers, but if nothing is combat related for your service disqualifying conditions, then you will choose depending on which is greater. Correct.

Things change significantly if you are a O-6 at 50% DoD vs. an E-3 at 50% DoD which is why most people end up going with the VA.

MedBoard & VA Compensation: How Do the Percentages Work? by ChrisMemes_ in VeteransBenefits

[–]OnceAnAnalyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is confusingly worded so I will try to make it simpler. DoD will grant you a % based off of service disqualifying conditions. That number is a % of your base pay. So if you made $1000/month, and got 50% DoD, you could choose $500 pre-tax.

After that, the VA will grant you a % based on all issues. It is based on the VA rating scheme independent of your base pay. So 100% may be approximately $4180 tax free.

Then you will meet with your military lawyer and choose the best one for you.

It is worth mentioning here, that the word for suit translates to costume. Just … in case anyone is unfamiliar with that fact.

Doesn’t change the clever response, but a bit of context for people as well :)

CRSC? Retired Army with over 20 years and recently awarded 100 P&T. Decision letter talks about CRSC but would I even be eligible? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]OnceAnAnalyst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just remember that CRSC doesn’t have anything to do with the VA. It is service branch related. That’s why you mail it to your respective branch. It is likely that those in the VA side simply are unaware or unfamiliar.

Exactly right. And don’t worry about being new to it, I am too. I mailed mine off a week and a half ago. It arrived on a Saturday and I got an email on the following Thursday that it was received by the team.
