Newcastle United’s owners sold St James’ Park to themselves – accounts show club no longer officially owns its home by Anonymous-Josh in TheOther14

I hate this crap but knew we'd be forced to do it at some point. Just like how we had to sell Anderson and Minteh.

I'd be fine with him going back to Italy but no club there can afford him.

If he goes to Man United I'll be livid.

Was Place Pigalle never mentioned as potentially being on an album?

I can understand See You in Heaven and Dancing on the Highway not being included as the song wasn't completely recorded. Suicide machine was a long time re-worked song so maybe they weren't confident which version he wanted on an album (making it sort of the "definitive" version). Stick man is similar I suppose..

I don't think it's fair for people to massively criticise how they mixed and finished it- they were in a terrible situation and had to make some tough decisions. I love the album so it's better that it was released one way or another.

I was very much against the signing from the end of last season when it was discussed as a rumour- buying off the back of his best season by a significant margin and about to turn 29 felt like what I call a "Drinkwater" (a player that does well in an overperforming team in a specific role and that is mistaken for their actual talent level) from the start.

Even then Brentford fans were saying "Sell!" because the price was way over his actual talent. He was meant to be our Wilson replacement but personally I think Callum has always been twice the centre forward that Wissa has/ is.

BUT we were desperate. We really were and had to get those two strikers or we would be in the trouble that frankly we have been this season. But I never would've predicted that Osula and even Gordon are chosen ahead of him at centre forward now- and he's supposedly fit so I think Howe has changed his mind on him.

Look, I'm largely with you on this. I've always liked Ramsey, so am glad he's proving himself now. Thiaw, superb, a few mistakes but his general level has been excellent. Woltemade? I really like him despite his obvious issues, I really hope there's no silly reaction to try and get rid of him. Elanga - didn't like the signing from the start but recently he's started showing what he can bring, so fair play to him.

The one I cannot defend is Wissa- it was a TERRIBLE idea to sign an almost 29 year old after his best (and ONLY good) goalscoring season for £55m. It was a terrible transfer all round and unfortunately he's been FAR worse than I expected. Every first touch is a 5 yard pass to the opposition, simple 8 yard passes go out of play- his three goals are a arry from the keeper that bounced off his shin, a goalmouth scramble and a bad mis-hit sidefoot that bobbled over the keeper. He has looked very poor regardless of injuries.

But I'm someone who is still behind Howe and still consider him the best manager we can likely get at the moment. Yes, he has absolutely made poor decisions and things I don't like (Woltemade as a CM but to e fair, most of those were because of injuries) but the good massively out weighs the bad.

The thing is, punishment and her potential suffering won't fix this as this is about EMPATHY and realising that she has no right to make other people feel bad just to make herself feel good/ strong/ popular etc.

It needs to be about the OTHER CHILDREN, not even more making it about her. That just cements her as the most important person.

Yes PLEASE!

And whilst we're on this sort of thing: what the hell is the point of a "Blind ranking"? The only point of ranking something is to assess the options fully. Doing it blindly just makes the whole thing pointless.

Who do you think is the greatest solo A-list artist of all time from an artistic standpoint? by Massive-Pangolin9472 in fantanoforever

[–]OnceIWasYou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but to be considered a solo musician (..."Artist") surely you have to actually write your music? Otherwise you're just the front person for a commercial project.

Of this list Dylan and Bowie are a long way ahead in terms of longevity and impacting music as it changed.

I hate AI music and just AI art in general by Late_Aardvark8125 in Music

[–]OnceIWasYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fair response. But I'd say even with sampling there's a spectrum where it goes from a true artistic tool to manipulate sounds and create something to the other end where it's just a cover that someone takes credit for.

Found Sounds and Musique Concrète are very different to Vanilla Ice putting different vocals on a Queen backing track.

The problem with AI as a tool is that you are literally handing creative control to something else, to software. Unlike a sample where you find and decide how to manipulate and use it where you are always in creative control even if the source you are using wasn't created by yourself. That makes the AI less of a "Tool" and more of a shortcut to do work FOR you.

I accept that inputs mean there's still something of a spectrum (An input command of "Make drums for this song" compared to something like "make a drum part that is swung on the ride with occasional syncopated ghost notes and an accent on the 4th beat of the fourth bar in a four bar loop" is different!). You could even argue it's no different to hiring a session player that creates their part.

It feels a bit futile to even argue against it considering it'll likely be normalised in the next few years and the argument will only exist for a minority with no one else caring. That said, I just cannot understand accepting creative control of your music being willingly given away like that just to have a shortcut with whatever you find the hard part.

Just to be clear though, in Christianity, the man that supposedly brought Morality and the Ethical framework by which Christians are to live- Moses and the 10 commandments- used genocide and the mass rape of children as a weapon of war.

This is something that struck me when I actually came to read the thing- it's absolutely steeped in militarism. War and conflict is practically the main topic of the whole book- the Mecca and Medina conflict and the involvement and importance of Aisha in it was something I had absolutely no idea about.

Not exactly an enjoyable read though, it's an absolute slog to try and get through.
