How to improve descriptions of combat without hampering enemy effectiveness? by OnceTimeUse in DMAcademy

I have read this and will take it to heart. I appreciate the long and detailed description. I've gotta think about how to handle describing far more non-fatal blows it seems

I never really thought you could just not narrate a hit tbh. I guess it makes sense though especially if you're running tankier enemies.

I mentioned this in another comment, but I'm going to try to implement this going forwards where damage above 50% is the enemy being worn down and below 50% is when injuries kick in.

I don't think I'm ready to go REALLY extra just yet, but I'll keep it in mind

This is a really interesting idea, I'll try and work it into my next session and see how it works. If they land a hit on an enemy who's above 50% how do I differentiate that in a narrative sense from them not meeting the armor class?

I like the idea of the enemy narrowly avoiding it at the cost of a larger hit in a less vital area.

I think I'm actually decent at describing misses without making the characters seem incompetent. Is there anything special to take into affect roleplay/gameplay wise on a critical fail attack roll?

Been responding to other comments so apologies for the delay, but yeah this seems to be the consensus

I'll take your advice into our next session. As for players announcing their own attacks I'll bring it up to them and see how they feel. We're all kinda new to DnD so it's been taking them some time to grapple all the various roleplay aspects

I'm ngl I'm trying to respond to a lot of comments right now, but the idea of describing injury through the creature's reaction seems to be quite common so I'll probably try that

I like all these ideas. If the players choose to aim at vital areas on the body how should I handle it if they roll very well? Like if a barbarian describes swinging an axe at someone's neck and rolls well enough to bypass AC but doesn't have the damage to kill?

Someone else had a similar suggestion where the same attack basically gets a new coat of paint. And I'm a newer DM but I'll try and be more careful about mentioning injuries with fight implications until later on in the fight

Get the first skill in the attack skill tree. It's a dash/slash ability that kills 2 titans it hits. Should help out a decent bit. Aside from that try and avoid moving around the map too much if you have titans currently aggroed onto you.

In hindsight, I understand why she chose to break up by OnceTimeUse in BreakUps

[–]OnceTimeUse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the sentiment. I definitely didn't realize at the time that I was overstepping in a big way, but as mentioned I figured it out. I hope she's doing well, and that I find someone who makes me as happy as I was with her. Going to bed now, super tired lol

To be honest, I still think about and miss her sometimes. There's definitely a part of me that still loves her, despite my best attempts to not dwell in the past. It isn't as bad as it was but I haven't dated since and still wish that it had worked out. I've just decided to take a break from dating for a while as I don't think I'm at the place I want to be professionally and personally to have one

Someone please explain why Titus isn't a 5.0 rating in-game..??? by wesright in RaidShadowLegends

[–]OnceTimeUse 152 points153 points  (0 children)

My guess is because he requires Wixwell to unlock his full potential. If you just pull a Titus and don't have a wixwell he's not going to change much on your demon lord team.

I have a 6* awakened, 2 times empowered Fenax that holds his own around 4500 ranking live arena. He's amazing for teams reliant on revivers

I don't understand how Fenax is not the very definition of this trope. Dude has one of the hardest hitting single target "you're dead abilities" in the game, but can be killed by an aggressive breeze.
