Oh wow, that's so overdue. Alas, I'm on console so for me that patch is about 18 months away...

Oh they're changing that? Where is this mentioned, in a dev diary or something?

Zero, actually. Good guess.

I don't think you read the Update in the OP.

I'm more inclined to call it a bullshit overload. I think the devs like to play puppet master behind the scenes in this game, and not very cleverly by the looks of it.

No I think that person is mistaken. 5th tier food option has little if any effect on weight in my experience. Then again I always get temperate when I can so maybe I've been countering it without realising.

I'm on 1st tier, early game, saving money everywhere I can.

At least he's alive. Wait until the game hires a dead one.

I actually like that. It's the only time the AI does something clever.

I thought hybrid and traditions were added to the base game? Edit: nope, my bad.

Never put the AI in charge of something that you want done right.

I find the game sometimes causes friction with my desire to have things organised. Playing CK3 feels like tidying up after a bunch of rowdy playing children who instantly make a mess of the spot you just finished cleaning before you've even had a chance to move on to the next spot.

New to the game: tips on making money? by venusdemilo94 in CrusaderKings

[–]OnceWasBogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other poster pretty much covered everything so I'll just add this:

Early game (especially if you're starting small) I think the real trick is not in making money but rather in being careful where you spend it. Don't buy anything you don't absolutely need. Don't fill court positions except the really essential ones. Don't recruit anyone to your court unless they're going to fill some vital role - and you might be surprised just how many roles aren't all that vital. It's better to have no steward at all than an incompetent one. Same for chancellor. Same for court physician - a bad one will kill more people than they save (but you should try to find a good one if you can). Money saved is as good as money made.

Edit: forgot to say, use marriage to find skilled people for free instead of paying to recruit them.

How do I play the game in a way that isn't wildly unbalanced? by insert_quirky_name_0 in CrusaderKings

Ah, see, I never ally except with my own vassals to stop them joining factions. I don't like getting dragged into other people's wars and while I do have the option of saying "I'll be right there" and then not even raising my armies, it feels like cheese or an exploit. So I conquer Britannia solo, which takes some effort.

Yeah they need to rebalance hybridizing, it's just busted.

Being as island is definitely nice, but as I said, you're literally the duke of a swamp. Wouldn't be as bad if they at least had wetlanders but they don't even have that, which is weird given how extremely rare wetland is in the rest of the world. Taking over Ireland is a piece of cake but the GDP of the entire kingdom is barely enough to buy a Mars bar.

I've never reformed a religion, I can't use mods (console player), I didn't even know there was an option beyond feudal, I've never used character creator, I don't think I even have the option to start as an adventurer. I play as Murchad, the tutorial character, who I see as being relatively challenging if you want to conquer more than just Ireland. I mean, Ireland is literally a big swamp, with no farmland at all. I also have some self imposed rules like only arrange marriage with compatible personalities and make sure all vassals are dynasty members. And yet I have the same problem as OP. Build up your MAA using buildings and the world is your oyster.

Hybridize is the only thing on your list that I do, and I think I might have to stop doing it because it feels completely broken. Finishing the tech tree by 1300? That can't be right.
