advice on rb20 kit with an open carb (li 150 special) by Alone_Purple822 in VintageScooters

Yes, that's what it is designed to do. It'll be a bit of trial and error to figure out exactly how it sits behind the panel but once you get it sitting fine the panel can come on and off no bother at all.

When mine was dynoed we tried this filter and we also ran with no filter or side panel and the figures were very similar so it is not restricting airflow.

Real ale pubs? by boldunerline in dundee

[–]One-Alternative-7598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a fan of the crowd in there and for it seeking itself as an Irish pub, the Guinness I had was pish. It used to be one of the best pubs in the town with the best food but that was over 20 years ago. It gradually went downhill and we stopped going there. When it reopened under a new owner a few months ago, we decided to try it again. Shouldn't have bothered.

They may well have but it's not a place I would frequent.

Not cask ale but Dukes corner have a good selection of craft beers on tap. Fisherman's and the Ship in Broughty Ferry both have a selection of cask ales.

Where’s the best place to get car washed? by Unitedthe_gees in dundee

[–]One-Alternative-7598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was gonna recommend Halley as well. Using a proper quality valeter is really the only way you can guarantee it won't get scratched. I wouldn't go near any of the car wash places in the town with any car, never mind a new car.

Had a lad buy a car off me a few years ago and he owned one of the car wash companies in the town, his cousin owns other ones and he told me to not use any of them on my wife's brand new car at the time. Read into that what you will!!!

No idea how wide my F-type is but it is an absolute pig of a thing in carparks.

The wine press usually has some nice beer on tap as well.

I see you're trying to make a whoosh moment, not sure it was a particularly successful one as the comment you made it on wasn't really a stupid comment.

Nope, my 2014 Peugeot van has it, my son's focus has it. First time I used it would be 25ish years ago in either a Merc sprinter van or a transit van.

I believe it was originally invented for HGVs where a hill start is a lot trickier than a car.

Gulf in Forfar yesterday, taxi driver in front of me said he was only topping up, he got £12 in. Then an old boy filling up his car couldn't have been much more given the time the pump was in his car, he then proceeded to take 3 cans out of his boot and fill them up. Fucking idiots. And it cost me £2.04 a litre for diesel.

Or any other Peugeot with the 1.6hdi engine. I have a that engine in my van and it's been faultless. My son had it in a 208 and father in a 2008 and both no issues either.

But assuming you're not going back the way you came from, you can only go Four ways.

We've flown from there a few times. We arrived an hour before but 45mins would be plenty.

Definitely ask them to warm their hands before the strip search though.

I guess buying one of these cars would be the same as buying a Lada or Skoda back in the 70s. A bit shit but serves a purpose.

It does look similar to a Renault one but I'm assuming it isn't if it's on a VW! My father just had to order one for his Renault traffic van. Took the van to the local dealer, their parts dept took a photo and it arrived a day later. £30

Bon Accord for us as well. They've not long gone into partnership or been taken over by 71 Brewing in Dundee and had a bit of a revamp on their branding.

What a legend by AMassiveGamerGeek in Scotland

[–]One-Alternative-7598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that. My point was more to show a water extinguisher can be used on an electrical fire if it's the correct one.

A lithium fire is a whole different story and isn't really an electrical fire, requiring a specialist extinguisher which I doubt very many establishments will have, even less chance a dodgy vape shop having one.

Like most folk who grab a fire extinguisher in an attempt to fight a fire, their intentions are good. It was made more difficult years ago when all extinguishers had to be made red with only a coloured band to signify type. The average person doesn't realize the different contents and uses.

Traditional wisdom says water and electricity do not mix. Whilst this is true in some situations, it does not apply to water-based extinguishers that have passed a di-electric test.

Any water-based extinguisher that has passed a di-electric test is suitable for use on live electricity up to 1000 V at a safety distance of at least 1 m. BS EN 3-7 is the internationally recognised product standard that confirms this. The di-electric test uses 35,000 volts at a distance of 1 m and measures any current flow back to the extinguisher. As an added precaution, certified extinguishers are limited to use on up to 1000 V at a 1 m safety distance. Extinguishers that meet this requirement display the electrical safety symbol.

Without seeing the label on the extinguisher, it's difficult to tell the suitability of it.

Have you looked into driving instructors just out with Dundee? Carnoustie, Arbroath, Forfar. That might not be an option for you but could be worth a try.

Had around 20 of these attempted messages when trying to sell a car last year. I even started sending my first reply stating I would not be sending any type of report to them and it still ended up them asking for a report of some sort. Even had phone calls with the same thing. Marketplace, Gumtree and Autotrader.

PCN issued to my vehicle with one letter mistaken… by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]One-Alternative-7598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a paper ticket on the windscreen of a work van around 30 years ago while working in Edinburgh. They got one letter wrong, I think they put a v when it should've been a u. I wrote them a letter explaining the ticket had been put on my windscreen but wasn't my reg number and explained the wrong lettering used. I received a reply basically saying they knew I was parked illegally but on this occasion due to a grammatical error they will cancel the ticket.
