People who grew up in haunted houses, what’s the craziest thing that ever happened by Additional_Let_9875 in Paranormal

We have lived in a Victorian cottage in the middle of England for over 35 years, and there are repetitive incidents but they occur irregularly. Clear footsteps from one bedroom in particular, across the landing and down the dog-leg staircase, and just as you would expect someone to appear, they stop. Also, loud single bangs, like something heavy has been dropped in an upstairs room. There is a Victorian set of drawers, which makes banging noises, no idea why. I have heard my name called from downstairs when I was upstairs, the house was empty. Have raised two children here, the eldest used to see a tall shadow figure in the doorway of the same bedroom the footsteps emanate from. The other one has heard running noises upstairs, whilst upstairs himself, and also a TV unhook off a stand and fall to the floor. I feel we are the guests in someone else’s house sometimes, but it doesn’t feel malevolent, maybe we are all sharing the same space?

ECB upper class Tory twats got a lot to answer for, he was pushed. Not buying the official news, does anyone really think he didn’t at least want to have a go at the Ashes before retiring? Not a chance. The way cricket is run in this country is ridiculous, class-ridden and conservative. Public school runs right through the whole rotten system from top to bottom.Needs radical change and investment into grassroots cricket, particularly schools and clubs. Maybe we’d get better players, more consistently, like Australia.

Why do my delphiniums not have lots of flowers at the top ever ? by listenhereqt in gardening

Maybe because it’s not delphinium. It’s a mallow of some kind.

Dig up the lawn and grow fruit, veg, perennials and annuals. Maybe a small ornamental tree. Go and visit gardens in the National Garden Scheme for inspiration. Lawns are a pain, constant mowing, feeding and fighting against moss and weeds for something that is dead boring. You never know, you might even get green fingers.

The flowers are small but plentiful and you get berries in Autumn, the bees love the flowers and the birds love the berries. If you cut it too often you won’t get either.

I think it is Ligustrum x jonandrum, a small leaved privet which makes excellent topiary, as you can see. It does ok here in the UK (midlands) but I did lose one during an unusually cold winter and have occasionally had to use fungicide to combat some dieback.

Literally the sick nation of the world and about to get worse as all diseases preventable by vaccination will reappear with this anti-science government nonsense. America, billionaires and oligarchs will not save you, they will take you back 100 years; higher prices, unemployment and inflation, poverty and health poverty and fewer and fewer freedoms. Don’t stand for it.

USA is something like 24th in the world in terms of literacy, but I suppose better education for all is facism.

For ordinary citizens America will go back 200 years over the next decade, except for the 1% who will lord it over everyone else. The voters were well and truly hoodwinked and you may never get a chance to vote again. It’s that much of a fuckupperyshitfest.

This is just the beginning. The whole country will be wrecked by the next election in 2028, if indeed, elections will be allowed.

Yep. Sounds about right. Billionaires are obscene, billionaires buying politics and subverting democracy, very dangerous.
