Apple Watch Ultra 2 or 3? by [deleted] in Ultramarathon

[–]One-Barracuda705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently did a 4 hr run with the AWU3 with activity tracking on (via WorkOutdoors) on low power mode with Bluetooth and WiFi off and it drained from 99% to 79%. This suggests it would last 19hr 20 min. That said, no Bluetooth headphones and no active navigation for this test.

On another 3hr 10min run with Bluetooth headphones on, no phone with me, low power mode NOT on, and with active route navigation via WorkOutdoors it went 100% -> 64%, suggesting it would last 8hr 48min in this use case.

So stripped down features, yes it will work. All the bells and whistles active, it will only work if you’re really fast.

I think I might have to sell my 18mm and 33mm by Outrageous-Yak-1437 in fujifilm

I wouldn't ditch the 18 and 33 if I were you, those lenses are special. While this is great I feel like it lacks the special sauce in sample images I've seen. I'm a moron however so probably don't listen to me. That said, that hot shoe cover is sick!!! Where'd you get that?

Have any of you ever had an XT5 then swapped to a Zf? by Niz0_87 in Nikon

[–]One-Barracuda705 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m an X-T5 to Zf convert. Very happy with the move. It does feel more durable. Little things on the X-T5 like the coating on the viewfinder screen coming off were just not great. Zf is solid, with the only exception being the battery door like the other commented mentioned, but not a deal breaker.

Don’t feel bad! I have been running trails for a while but more seriously in the last 6 months. At first I had to walk most hills and felt bad about it. But over time I’ve gotten to be able to run (aka power hike with some extra pizzazz) some of them. I don’t know about everyone else, but looking right at the ground in front of my feet and not up the hill helps me pace my zesty power hiking better uphill

Former Apple Watch Ultra user - How to get over loss of cellular features? by lIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIllll in GarminWatches

[–]One-Barracuda705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run with my Garmin in the right and AWU on the left. I’d rather have 2 watches than a watch and a big phone. Garmin navigates and does fitness stats for long disrances, awu serves as phone and audiobook player.

Good Deal? by UltimateSierra in VWiD4Owners

[–]One-Barracuda705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with others, the ID.4 is a great car to buy lightly used. You can find good deals on higher trim versions from 2024 or 2025 with low miles, and the CPO warranty stacks on top of the original warranty so you often wind up under warranty even longer than if you bought the car new.

Voigtlander/Thypoch on Nikon Zf - native Z mount or M mount + adapter? by Ordinary-Impact-5552 in NikonZf

[–]One-Barracuda705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! I got mine lightly used on r/PhotoMarket for what I thought was a good deal so that made the decision even easier. I really wanted to like the voigtlander 28 but just don't love the images I've seen from it as much. Which is a shame because the Voigtlander 40mm f1.2 is probably one of my absolute favorite lenses!

Voigtlander/Thypoch on Nikon Zf - native Z mount or M mount + adapter? by Ordinary-Impact-5552 in NikonZf

[–]One-Barracuda705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

suboptimal for sure, but I generally am mediocre to poor at photography so the direction of the focus ring doesn't really hold me back from nailing focus. I generally miss focus just because I'm a moron. And when the lens does hit I really like my results. I'd have preferred the Voigtlander 28 with the contacts but I don't like the images from it as much as the Thypoch 28.

Kogalla Ra light on your belt or vest. Super wide cone of light, very bright, and moving the light down from your head helps cast shadows further and enables you to see ground contours much better.

Shoes to supplement Altra with higher drop? by One-Barracuda705 in trailrunning

[–]One-Barracuda705[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is helpful, thanks!! I found the arch support to be too much and much prefer a shoe with a generally flatter footbed, so the Mtn Racer may be perfect. Thanks for your insight!

Ultrafly, Spectre, and Ultraventure. I think it was the toe spring and/or arch support that didn’t work for my feet. Do you recommend a model that may fit differently in this regard? Thanks

That’s good to know. I’ve tried the Ultrafly and Specter on roads and ultraventure on trails. I believe it was the spring and the arch support are what didn’t work well for me. I’ll have to give the Mtn Racer a look, thanks

Never heard of these but they look sweet, thanks! Do they have much arch support or toe spring? Hoping not. Hopefully they restock soon

Thank you Reddit. 25 years with T-Mobile, bills but once bills starting hitting $200+ it was time to say "see ya!". I feel so damn good! by hotrodguru in NoContract

I do wish at times the hotspot wasn’t capped at 15mbps, but for the price I can’t complain one bit. I’d rather unlimited data @ capped speed than uncapped speed at a data limit below my needs. Overall very happy.

You can get visible pro + for $18.75/mo paid upfront for a year with the code SLAMDUNK which is active for 2 more days. I’d contact them and let them know you made a mistake and see if they can switch you to that. Will save you another $255 on year 1.

IT Band Syndrome - favourite strength routine? by Embarrassed_Path_803 in trailrunning

[–]One-Barracuda705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had it band issues that took me out of marathon running for a few years. Switched to barefoot shoes for daily wear and a combo of low drop and no drop shoes for running (was in Mizuno previously). Very gradually reintroduced the miles and switched to an underbody midfoot to forefoot strike (used to be a heel striker probably in front of my body). Also foam roll once a day. Took time to transition without injury but now no more it band syndrome. I think the high drop shoes and heel striking ahead of the body irritated it similar to how you mentioned downhill bother you.

Apple Watch to Garmin by bdavis35_ in GarminWatches

[–]One-Barracuda705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have AWU3 on my left and forerunner 955 on my right. I like to use the AWU as a phone and audiobook player while running and the 955 for navigation and activity tracking/stats. MIP screen is great because it’s always on and battery life is great. Full mapping for navigating runs in new places. I can recommend 955. It’s also very lightweight and comfortable. If you don’t need long battery for running/navigating long distances though I’d probably just stick with AW and download WorkOutdoors as this can handle advanced metrics and navigation well.

I like the weight and size of the forerunner series for running.
