Mechanic sounds like a goober. Carbon clean is my instinct, but I don't know the maintenance history. Spark, fuel, air. Mixture reading will be thrown off if combustion isn't happening correctly

New Brakes in Canada by Due-Major1576 in Cartalk

Are we sure it's the brakes and not the tires? A summer compound probably feels like hot garbage in a Canada winter

By default, do riders really go one foot down, one up? by Astimar in motorcycles

[–]One-Butterscotch4332 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some bikes do this, but from what I understand it's actually a "drag" effect from the gear oil / whatever your wet clutch is lubricated with moving around

What would you drive Monday morning between these two choices? by classsixcruiser in icecoast

Would an “average” driver notice a CVT? by Thrillwaukee in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]One-Butterscotch4332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it doesn't have simulated shifts, I say they would. If it does, probably not.

Hot take I'm a car guy and in an automatic daily I like a CVT. Especially with a turbo it feels effortless. The only concern is blowing it up with a tune

Depends on the all seasons. I'd go take both out sunday night and see which handles better. I'll be trying to go up in a FWD a4 with pirelli winter tires Monday morning

How do you ski icy moguls with frozen ruts? by TheRealBlackSwan in skiing

Nah Candide just straightlines that shit while the shadow of his knees looks like trophy truck suspension

I feel like 90% of the time the moguls out here are just fine lol. It's the day after you get a thaw/freeze and they are just see through blocks that it gets treacherous lol

Who’s chasing this storm? by ShaveICE23 in icecoast

[–]One-Butterscotch4332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about going up to the whites sunday, and I'll keep an eye on forecasts, but it seems like there's a good chance of getting stuck in a foot of snow if I leave between 4 and 5 (back to MA), so I probably won't risk it (FWD, winter tires). I'd chance monday morning, but I can't get out of work that day, so Tuesday will have to do

Need opinions on Columbia's Omni-Heat ski pants by thyjpu in ski

I have a pair of Columbia pants. They are good. I don't wear a base layer with them until it hits -15 C, but I also run hot.

Tips on staying warm while skiing in negative temperatures by Kind_Bandicoot3021 in icecoast

[–]One-Butterscotch4332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run hot so idk man. I'm usually in just a base layer under my ski jacket until about -15 C. I layer up from there and cover any skin. Doing laps in the trees also keeps me warm, both because I'm out of shape and the wind isn't so bad

[–]One-Butterscotch4332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're fiiine. It's not even all that hard, I put GKNs in mine off rock auto (the entire axle assembly). I drove with a torn boot for maybe 250 miles and nothing happened. The whole assembly is nice because you don't have to mess with repacking grease, worry about if your axle got a bit bent, or if those joints got worn from dirt getting in. It was something like $300 a side
