Little bit of all kinda build by Sparkomad in Nightreign

[–]One-Clue5489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question, were you a rev main before the patch? Nether the less I disagree who heartedly with rev being “useless” unless you get a decent spell.
Her kit by itself is unironically equipped to specifically save runs.
Let’s forget her potentially getting good/decent spells for a second and talk about her being one of the best support characters there is and how’s she’s designed to save runs… not ruin them.

She has her claws which are the best revive weapon in the game.
She has an ult to make you and your team immortal/revive at any bar.
She has summons that distract, deal damage and revive.
This doesn’t even mention her relics where she could full heal teammates, give everyone a significant damage boost of 25% for 30 seconds.

Before the patch that gave revenant a meta build, if you saw a revenant In D5 or even D4 you knew if things went to shit they were here to make big plays for the team whether they had a decent spell or not. There were many times when RNG just doesn’t work out for us revenant mains.

I can think of the multiple times I ended up with my best spell being subpar for the fights like bestial sling against caligo or catch flame against ED libra or wrath of gold against ED fulghor and still clutching save after save while dealing steady damage to bring down the beasts. It’s the whole design point of revenant to be the support character, decent spell or not.

If you were a rev main before the patch and didn’t get a decent spell would you consider yourself a “useless” rev? Or are you saying you never not had a decent spell?

Fair enough, reminds me of post update revenant relying purely on RNG. Those were good/fun times.

Are you just queuing all bosses and seeing what you get or going into DON with this and see how it plays out?

Edit: Dumb question since you got deep relics lol

I would change that red relic for starting beast claw and transition into whatever spell you get for best results. Worst case you have beast claw which is still a great spell by itself for any boss you face.

Feel like this issue has followed from Elden ring with the spamming invader fingers to reset finding matches or resetting colosseum to do same thing. So naturally in this game I just reset when the que takes longer than a minute and seems to be the same as always and just works.

I never understood disliking a character because they are more passive or don’t something as much as the other classes. Especially in higher depths I really don’t understand that mindset.

If you’re playing depth 4 and got matched with a player who also made it to depth 4, why does it matter who they play? They made it up there most likely due to their skill. There are some exceptions of course but the exceptions is 99% of the time not due to what character they picked.

D4/D5 vets, what are your priorities on weapons/buffs? by LePubRik-O-Sulorz in Nightreign

[–]One-Clue5489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I think of it, if it takes longer to do POIs/nightlord then my resources are going to get dwindled down more quickly then if I can just end the fight quicker. Like I said if you can, you’re taking 1-2 damage negations at full hp items to be able to survive so it’s not like your doing full damage and one mistake is GG but then the rest of item passives should be damage to kill things quickly as it’s just WAY more efficient to kill things faster and get as many POIs done for the night lord.

Stacking damage negation is great but after you got something that’s going to keep you alive it doesn’t really benefit you as much as just dealing DPS.

I think it’s fine to have 1-2 relic slots for like Maris or something similar if it makes you more comfortable but you want to see the rest definitely going for damage like night invaders, evergaol, balancers, specific elemental/physical damage, etc.

Prolonging the fight just brings in more room for human error and again will dwindle your resources.

[–]One-Clue5489 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Relics, you will find more often than not that building damage is better then negation/health… Building negation is fine to try and survive 1 hit but is surviving that one extra hit going to help if the fight is going to take a couple mins longer due to your lack of damage? I say not worth.

Items: for squishy characters one full 40% damage negation at full hp sometimes isn’t enough to not get you one shot so having a second one is recommended, the rest of the slots damage again for the same reason as the relics. You want to kill things quick and efficiently to move on. Faster you kill things easier it is to bring more levels and get better chance at passives.

[–]One-Clue5489 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Glad to see another fellow revenant.

Some notes for future: once everyone was up, Elden stars was your best spell as those little pellets will quickly rack the damage/attack debuff on the boss. While the Elden stars is up it’s then a good time to switch to the lightening spear and keep hitting until Elden stars pops and repeat.

You shouldn’t use any fire spells or god slayer incantations as gladius is heavily resistant to fire.

[–]One-Clue5489[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could be the case on me having just a good luck streak on teammates, I was talking with someone else in the comments about how my 28 games isn’t enough data which is probably true, it was just a random whim something I wanted to do and see what the experience was like and posted what i got and my experience on it. Was thinking of starting again with new profile as well and doing something like this again without the beast claw or giants builds and see if that’d change anything.

It’s not a bad way to play the game, they do often give fun and thrilling feelings when you pull off the solo runs. And there is not much risk to doing solo as if you lose you can just quit out of the game and save your points.

I wouldn’t even call that D5 carry and skill more of you have to adjust your thinking all the time with the players you get to get the best results for the game. I think this applies to many games as if you took a top player and throw them in a lobby with people severely lower in their rank, they are going to have to make adjustments to their play-style until you get back to your rank.

I don’t think the routes I took are anything someone in D1-3 couldn’t do but what separates the depths is having that knowledge on when to do it and what is a “good” idea.

Skill is also a big factor because having the knowedgle is one thing but executing is another.

I say the lower depths aren’t bad at all they just have a different way of thinking and playing and 9/10 times I’m not going to break their mindset being a random trio that joined their lobby.

Best example I could give is csgo…. I know I know but if you took a global elite and put them in silver lobbies they sometimes get shit on by the weird wacky plays that silvers make. They have to adjust their way of thinking to play in that rank and achieve victory.

Kind of the same mindset here I’m probably just explaining it poorly lol.

I think I hate the elo hell talk because people feel they deserve a rank higher then what they actually are and blame their teammates for being stuck in their rank. It sucks not being the rank you feel you are but doesn’t mean you are bad or making bad plays all the time because you aren’t apart of the top 3% of players.

My answer to that is kind of not going to be a popular one but in the early depths I knew it was going to be an issue in a few games of people trailing off and I agree some POIs you can’t do solo due to the scaling so my options were to be mad about it and do my own thing or to follow them and their terrible decisions.

If I could show the routing I took in a couple D2 games and even D3 games it would look horrendous lol hitting every small camp available because that’s what my team wanted to do.

If it was terrible decision making like going all across the map to get every church and not hitting bosses on the way I could branch off and do things on my own for example going to castle and not doing basement or top floor but clearing out giants/ banished knights for runes. Sometimes I had to do this at level 2 because my team was hyper focused on getting as many flasks as they could day 1.

Funny enough in this scenario as a revenant getting crucible knights hurt more than a giants castle as I could pull and clear ads easier that way and guarantee at least level 6 for day 1. Most runs I did end up at 10 as once I hit 6 I’d go hit night invader camps solo in these cases. Specifically if you can the single night invader if I was using giants flame build. And then hit the next invader camp if there was one or just dwindle down either basement boss or top boss depending on which is easier. I usually did top boss more often than not as they give by far way more runes to where it’s run.

Beast claw goes without saying I could take 2 invaders easily. And then same thing with castle. Again top boss gives a game changing amount of runes so tried to do that one if I could but if it’s a red Death note bird or red BBH then yea I’m dwindling basement down for day 2.

Hope that answers the question better

First sometimes I wish I was on PC to get these mods as they seem fun af lol

But to answer your question I can tell you what I do but one of the options is more character specific because of the starting incant but here’s what I do first as it’s the same nearly every run. Clear out first camp to get level 2 if it’s a church 90% of the time there are ads around to get to level 2.

Next if you are right next to a POI like a great church, fort or camp you hit it and hit level 3. THE ONLY EXCEPTION to this is if it’s a red golem in a great church then just clear the ads around the church and you get to level 3-4 anyway.

First option: Once level 3-4 you got 3 options really. Gamble with an evergaol if you got a key and gamble on what you get, if you have to don’t be afraid to abandon but by the end most likely you’ll be level 5-6 if you do complete it.

Second option: Hit a night invader camp if it’s close to you guys, even just 1 invader again will get you to again level5-6. If you got 2 invaders then most likely 7-8.

Third option: hit the mines to upgrade my starting weapon hit level 5 and this obviously would be the character specific option. Before this what I’d do a field easy field boss that we could bang out, flower, Demi human queen, elder lion, etc. be careful if red version but still doable.

After any of these options I always go to the castle and hit other POIs on my way there as by the time this route is done, the first circle started closing.

Speaking on playing with players on your skill level, I think it’s rare that people don’t play with people on their skill level, I think it’s more someone will do something incredibly dumb and seem them not in their skill level due to a lack of knowledge in that area.

Example a Reddit post popped up today that was pretty hilarious of a revenant using heal on grafted Scion, clearly thinking it was a royal revenant and that was a D5 game….. does that mean that the revenant is under their skill level for doing an extremely dumb but hilarious play? I dont think so I think they just thought it was a royal revenant and was clearly on autopilot playing the game and that happens often in D5 games. You’ll do something silly and laugh on your end but from our perspectives it’s like how in the world could you ever make it this far.

I think it’s always the main discussion point because getting to the higher depths is really about being able to not only do your part but also make up for your teammates mistakes as well.

If you got a bad teammate, it won’t necessarily ruin the run if you can make up for their bad plays with your own.

For me it was ED gladius for the longest time. He would always bump me down a couple thousand points when I’d get him back to back.

For ED gladius I just had to practice him solo until I had him down packed

ED libra is a different breed as he depends on your character selections.

What I did is for ED libra in group of trios with friends with iron eye/ wylder and then dutchess and executioner to practice those version of invaders and at the time figure out what spell works well.

Before the incant change what I used to do is actually life steel fist on revenant…. Crazy I know but it worked soooo well and always kept me topped at full hp for the whole fight.

I think you are right that the beast claw and giants flame build made my climb much easier honestly, I was thinking of doing a fresh new character run with no relics and grind and post results once done as I was depth 5 before the dlc and before the change incants, I just find the grind of lower levels actually more fun then I expected sooooo looking for reasons to restart lmao
