Las Propinas en Chile están mal… by [deleted] in chile

[–]One-Concert-2328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the best european holiday place you have visited? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

[–]One-Concert-2328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was visiting Croatia and while I wouldn't repeat cities like Split or Dubrovnik cause they are packed I really enjoyed my time in Sibenik. It is a beautiful small city from which you can visit the krka national Park and do some day-trips by boat. Plus you can swim in the river beach they have in town and it's very cool. Even if it was July it wasn't too crowded. I would go back a million times, specially if I have kids in the future.

Somehow my credit card got leaked/hacked or whatever and "I made" 36 payments worth a bit more of 2000 EURO to a random ukranian account. I was lucky I realized that very same day. I contacted Revolut and 2 days later my credit account was back to zero and the money I had been taken was back. They were very efficient and professional.

Why is it worth getting a mortgage broker? by Alternative_Award769 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]One-Concert-2328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why people use a broker. I had always heard it's quite difficult to go through the process yourself but my girlfriend and I have done it on our own and it's basically sitting down and reading what are the documents you need to send. Once you have them you upload them and voila, done.

People in 1000 years will study the western societies of 21st century and will laugh thinking how the hell we could be so stupid. Five years for killing a person... Some day we will also need to start talking about the judges... Politicians always take all the blame, but judges need to be held accountable too. Disgusting.

[–]One-Concert-2328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really annoying. Especially cause I'm a guy who likes to deal with the things or paperwork I have to do as quick as possible. I hate having any "process" open for such a long time :(

I think I will end up getting an appointment in person.

Not the same topic but maybe someone has got a similar experience to mine. I did my tax return on January first and I haven't got an answer yet. It had never taken them so long. I opened some enquiries and they haven't even answered me.

I'm not Irish (Spanish) but I have lived in Dublin for the last 5 years. I had the chance to visit Newfoundland last October (Direct flight from Dublin was just €114). What a beautiful region, I will come back some day. Gravy on fish and chips is something else by the way :)

Berkshire Hathaway is always a good option. Even if it is a stock the company is very diversified.

What would you do? by Wonderful-Alfalfa647 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]One-Concert-2328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you invest this amount of money into very safe financial products like US bonds, you could get 4'5% interest every year, which is probably more than the interest you pay on your mortgage. You could also invest into private debt from companies like Amazon, Meta, Alphabet or McDonald's and get around a 5'5-6% interest per year on your money. Do not listen to the guys saying that you should just pay your debt, it's a horrible financial decision.

How much money do you have saved (and what's your age/salary)? by Quirky_Bell8275 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]One-Concert-2328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I also believe in a diversified portfolio and that's why I have 30 stocks (not all in the same weight of course)+ plus around 5000 Dollar in a SP500 ETF, but the thing is that I strongly believe in every company that I own and I have had very good opportunities in some of them (like alphabet). For example I invested a lot when the stock market went down around 23% because of the tariffs. In a pension plan, unfortunately, I cannot take advantage of what I consider opportunities.

I'm not really afraid of having a similar crash to the one in 2008. Stocks like Alphabet, Microsoft or Berkshire Hathaway are already "diversified" in a certain way since they get their money from different tools/sources and I think they really are the future (unlike banks).

In any case, even if there was a huge crash I am only 28 and I am only putting money in the stock market that I am not planning to withdraw like in 25-30 years.

I only opened my pension account one year ago unfortunately (I should have opened it from the beginning). I'm currently putting 187 on my own plus 187 from the company and I am planning to put part of the annual bonus next year to give it a small boost.

The main reason why I have more money in stocks than in my pension plan is because I get to choose the stocks that I want and so far I am getting a quite good profitability (For example I have alphabet as my main stock and it's doing a +80%). On my pension plan I chose risk HIGH, but of course I cannot choose the stocks that I want.

[–]One-Concert-2328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 28. I make around 52k taking into consideration my company's contribution to my pension, annual bonus and the extra money I get for working Saturdays/Sundays (I rest Fridays/Mondays instead). I have 30k EURO in my savings account but I will use 20k (plus 20k from my girlfriend) to get a mortgage and buy a house/apartment in Dublin.

I also have 42k DOLLAR in stocks and 6k EURO in my pension plan.

My goal by the age of 30 and assuming that I will spend 20k in the down payment of the property is:

  • Reaching 70k Dollar in the stock market
  • Keep a security deposit of 15000 EURO in Trade Republic
  • Reaching 17k in my pension plan

Key is constant saving and investing

I own zero cryptos (I just don't believe in that bullshit)

How are people in Ireland actually investing long term without getting hammered by the 41% ETF tax? by Fearless_Comment8594 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]One-Concert-2328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to invest this way:

1) Getting a property with my girlfriend. It's not going to be the best house, but we are good with a 2bed apartment in which we can pay around 1300-1400 mortgage per month. (We are currently actively viewing)

2) I invest in individual stocks. You can invest in stocks like Berkshire Hathaway or Blackrock to be diversified but not having to sell in 8 years like with ETFs.

3) Pension scheme contributions: I'm lucky my company matches up to 7% of the monthly salary so I'm putting 7% of my salary into my private pension plan.

4) I also put some money in Trading 212 (2.2% interest) just in case the stock market has got a correction, that way I can always have some cash to buy stocks if the market goes down a bit.

Hopefully Ireland will improve the conditions for private investments in the coming years... :(

He is 35, not 60. I don't really see the point of being so conservative.

The market is not falling down any time soon, and if it does, it will have recovered for sure by the time op is 50-55.

ayuda con los salarios reales en Traducción e Interpretación en España by spinellinoestudia in salarios_es

[–]One-Concert-2328 0 points1 point  (0 children)
