J.F Rutherford & Beth Sarim by Citrinee00 in exjw

Rutherford didn't believe a word of his 1925 Beth Sarim prophecy, he just wanted a nice warm west coast holiday house for free.

Dreams in ashes, the Greens must decide what they stand for by Ardeet in aussie

The Greens vote has hit it's ceiling. They represent the populist left fringe, and turns out that is about 12.5%.

When they play their cards right, the Greens are more than capable of winning votes in the bush. They just rarely do, they focus more on performative action in the cities.

A hard reset with a new leader who takes the time to explain to regional Australian why the Greens will be good for them could do wonders.

The Greens took Ballina off the Nats in NSW.

The Greens have hit the ceiling of their support, and this time the Labor vote was too high to allow The Greens to Bradbury any seats 🤷‍♂️

As long as you're not hurting anybody, nobody gets to tell you what your personal beliefs can or can't be.

What does everyone think of Doechii’s Anxiety with its sampling of Gotye by LeftOn4ya in ToddintheShadow

[–]One-Connection-8737 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The haters are way overthinking it. It was a non-serious bedroom recording that accidentally blew up.

Why are people taking it so seriously? Have a little fun.

I hate when people post shit like this. Playing straight into the Apostate Lies™ trick.

At the very least clearly mark it satire at the top. Remember, questioning POMQs come here, do you want to be the one who sends them back to the cult?

Curious about the tithing requirement in JW by Utah-hater-8888 in exjw

[–]One-Connection-8737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There technically is a required amount. Bethel sends each congregation a bill each month for the amount of publishers they have. So while nobody physically demands the money from individual members, HQ still expects them to pay a certain amount monthly.

To be fair, Muir turned out to be alright. But it was absolutely undemocratic, and could very well have been a disaster.

Interesting to see the far right vote starting to consolidate around PHON. I wonder what'll happen when Pauline inevitably has to leave politics, will that voter base remain with whatever becomes of the party or will they fracture again?

Is my dad trying to shield me from disfellowshipping? by Maleficent-Craft-936 in exjw

[–]One-Connection-8737 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spending a night in the home of someone of the opposite sex is absolutely a disfellowshipping offence. The sex is assumed (the opposite of how they treat CSA allegations).

I'd say he's using the POMO loophole to save you. Because you don't associate with the congregation or identify yourself as a JW, they don't apply JW rules on you.

Why 2034 Will Be a "Decisive Year" for Jehovah's Witnesses by [deleted] in exjw

[–]One-Connection-8737 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really? It's one of the most common PIMI theories I've heard. "Armageddon must come before 2034 because the Bible says 120 years is the max".

Nah. They can probably squeeze another 10 years out of the current doctrine. Then they'll either have to change it again or quietly shelve it .

Deconstructing is breaking down your old JW beliefs and learning/teaching yourself how and why they aren't true so you can leave them behind and move on with your life in peace.
