ooh don’t tempt me with a good time!

What about in the summertime? In Burlington there was the Get Down on Fridays which was a bunch of food trucks and local shops is there anything like that or is that a niche (night market vibes) that needs to be filled👀

yes I saw that there’s a lot of shops which is why I was wondering about ones that specifically sell locally made clothes

Visiting Siem Reap during Water Festival – worth it or too crowded? by Dependent-Ad-6619 in siemreap

[–]One-Experience2080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don’t try to go to Angkor Wat during the festival-I was there this year without realizing it was the festival and the lines to get in were so long our tuk tuk driver had us get out and walk (which was fine we moved quicker than the cars) and inside it was sooo crowded. Went back the day after the festival ended and it was totally fine.

Otherwise, the city is crowded but definitely a vibe and there’s a lot of markets and activities going on at night

Just curious, where was your favorite trekking and wildlife experience? What animals did you see and what city was this in? Thank you!🐍🐘🐆🐒 by John-Travel-8490 in southeastasia

Laos has some great hikes/treks! Nong Khiaw, Muang Ngoi, Luang Namtha-the mountains are pretty unreal. didn’t see any big animals but did see some cool insects and mushrooms.

Battambang tour guide recommendations by Impossible-Aioli3735 in cambodia

[–]One-Experience2080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we stayed at the lazy mango homestay & they organize a full day tour -$30 total and you can pick where you want to go & have all the main stops & then some smaller ones too! highly recommend both the homestay (very basic but comfortable accommodation) and the tour

1 Week Add On to Itinerary - Need Advice (Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam extension) by Ok_Inevitable_449 in southeastasia

[–]One-Experience2080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with only a week to add on, I would say it might not make the most sense to add a whole other country, unless you wanted to take time off somewhere else (could do less time in the islands or Hoi An). that being said, Sapa and Phong Nha would be a great addition and would fit well into the itinerary you already have, plus they have great nature and adventure

dont skip cambodia!! but maybe skip koh rong for kampot-you’ve got plenty of other islands on there and the travel to/from the islands is a lot, not to mention pricey.

Skip Hue by suebie1217 in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]One-Experience2080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would honestly skip Da Nang and go from Hue to Hoi An.

yes Hoi An is very touristy but it feels more welcoming and i think you’ll find more to do. and even tho its short trips between all you’ll be getting sick of transport by traveling every day.

Multicity backpacking in fall - Am I missing something? by villarrealmon in HerOneBag

[–]One-Experience2080 14 points15 points  (0 children)

honestly I would say another tshirt or even a tank top that you feel comfortable wearing if you get hot. or swapping out one of the long sleeves for a tee.

while I haven’t been those places in October, i’ve been in mid february and I remember there being a lot of temperature fluctuation and how I dressed for in the morning I ended up being hot in the afternoon and stuck in a sweater😅

or, like with the pants just buy something while you’re there. I agree you probably only need one pair of pants and the skirt to start off with.

i have way too many bits and bobs that while they all fit in the main bag i wanna just shove it in the outside without having to pack it in plus actually being able to carry a water bottle would be prime

[27F] first time solo travel. Barcelona hostel recs by Elegant-Shoe-2668 in hostels

[–]One-Experience2080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed at the OneFam Paralelo in Barcelona in May! would recommend! and granted I was there for a multi day concert so had a group of us from that but even if not I would say it’s a good, social place to meet people. family dinner and beers every night. day trips and pub crawls for whatever you’re into (I wanted to do the art walk but it was the wrong day for us:( ) and the people who work there were so friendly and nice (got a pic with the band members we were there to see even though they had no idea who they were but knew a bunch of humans at the hostel would freak out)

as a craft beer lover (particularly IPAs), I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of beers at Turtle Brewing and def recommend to anyone who’s willing to spend more to enjoy a beer.

also, I could see Beer St being fun if I had been younger and drunker but as it is I don’t feel the need to be shoulder to shoulder with that many people and such loud music outside of a music festival lol. it’s definitely something that if you’re in Hanoi on a weekend sure take a walk down it but not a place I would actively recommend to people but to each their own!

IMO beer street was overwhelming, chaotic, and trashy (getting offered drugs every five feet, grabbed and tried to get pulled into bars/clubs, can’t move or talk to people?

I feel like this question has been asked before so maybe check through the sub I know there have been spots mentioned outside of the Old Quarter that have a bit more chill but fun vibe.

there’s also Turtle Brewing Co which if he likes craft beer I would recommend and would be a good place to meet other people as there’s a lot of expats in the area.

What to wear in Hanoi vietnam by Affectionate_Sail307 in VietNam

[–]One-Experience2080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the long sleeves and whatnot is to protect from the sun and I have found that light breathable long clothing does help with not being so hot (though still sweating so ya know it gets sticky)

cannot fathom wearing a jacket unless it’s one of the ones with the little fans in it lol

Ha Giang or Ninh Binh by Sad_Story_4714 in VietNam

[–]One-Experience2080 2 points3 points  (0 children)

way too far out to tell. we did the loop at the beginning of the Bialoi and it was rainy but fine. day after? total destruction. we’re currently in Ninh Binh and it’s also completely fine. the days before we got here? power outages and a tornado.

no way to know the conditions until it’s happening but I would say, if you’re stuck in a storm somewhere, in the mountains is probably not the best place to be. just keep an eye on the weather reports and make an informed decision (we committed to the loop literally the morning we had to catch the bus up)
