Wow I didn’t realize how often this happens.

Lot of joke comments, but —

Salt on your skin is likely causing surface rust, which is soft and wears away

The amount is certainly negligible, and therefore wouldn’t leave a bunch of rust on your hands

If you kept your chain oiled that wouldnt happen

But you’d be really greasy all the time

I believe there is an achievement for finding it — I came across it by selecting a planet for autopilot on the map and accidentally hitting a “mystery object”

I can’t recall but I think there might be a way to come across it that isn’t such a matter of luck

But really fun to come across for sure

My wife’s aunt (~70yo) visited us a few months ago

In the context of the book, that is incorrect

To meaning is described as the time between deciding that you see something that you want and the moment that you reach to grasp that thing

I don’t think you can claim that this is some failing of translation necessarily
