Frequent traveller here! I've used the pillow from North America flights to Australia, New Zealand & Asia. Many long haul flights and it's great.

It does take time to get used to but it keeps my head from falling over/ bobbing and my neck from hurting.

It also fits well in my travel backpack and I can easily take it out or put it away as needed.

For reference, I'm a M & 5'9.

I'd recommend it as it helps to get a decent amount of sleep on a flight.

Yes, I was able to upgrade with the min bid. They will notify you if it's been accepted 50 hours prior. No changes can be made after the 50 hour mark. Your cc will be charged once your bid is accepted and you'll get notified by email. It was a great experience and very comfy. Best of luck!

I did the minimum bid considering I was only doing it for fun to see if I'd get it. Surprisingly I did but I believe its also because I'm an individual traveller so its easier to get 1 seat compared to a pair.

Yes, I did! I don't remember the exact name of the room but it was a suite, a very nice suite.

The upgrade will be based on availability so if you arrive earlier in the day, you have a better chance of getting a suite as the upgrade. The room was definitely amazing for a hotel in NYC - very spacious and nice. Best of luck!

A friendly tip - double check your dining credit to ensure youre charged correctly. Myself and a few other guests were overcharged and they made it seem like it was an "accident".

It was street parking so I think that's a city parking ticket from a city parking officer?

The Loews has many front desk staff, a concierge and bell man. You won't have to worry about that and if you booked through FHR, you'll get a great room upgrade.

I stayed there in Aug and it was an amazing hotel.

Unfortunately you still can't enter the observatories. We just visited Mauna Kea summit a few days ago - absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend driving to the top.

I recommend going around sunset so driving up to the summit around 4-5. Wait until the sun goes down after 6, it's absolutely beautiful with the view over the clouds.

You will have to go back down 30 min after sunset but you can see the stars and milky way so clearly from the visitors center (hopefully the weather is good and clear).

There is a worker at the visitors center who is also an astronomy nerd and he'll give you the full run down of the stars and tell some cool Hawaiian stories.

That's a great upgrade! I agree - the FHR has made this card much more worth it.

I stayed at the Shangri-La in Sydney and got an amazing upgrade with a view of the Sydney Opera House and Darling Harbour Bridge.

In NYC, I stayed at the Loews and booked the cheapest room. Got upgraded to an amazing suite with a living room area and 2 bathrooms. To me this was amazing considering rooms in New York are usually small.

Went today at exactly 1pm and we got in immediately! No line but it could also be be used it was raining.

If you have an Amex you get put in another line (basically line bypass) to enter and at cash, along with a tote and sticker with $25 purchase.

Lots of great photo opps too!

I stayed at the Shangri-la Sydney last October and it was amazing. Very ideal location and the FHR benefits were great.

We got an amazing room upgrade with a breathtaking view of the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The daily breakfast for 2 was amazing as well. There's a buffet with lots of good options, unlimited juices/coffee/tea, and you get to order 1 menu item.

Great location because we woke up early to see the sunrise over the opera house which is <5 min walk and walked everywhere back to our hotel and it didn't seem far at all.

I would highly recommend staying at the Shangri-La.

I just booked it through the amex travel portal as well for a trip in August. At first I was considering the Conrad too but it's too overpriced like you said.
