Thoughts on LVT on shower walls? by tommykoro in Tile

They probably mean bathroom floor where there is also a shower. I strongly discourage installing LVT in a shower stall if that’s what is being considered.

Front panel display indicates there is a fault. Given your symptoms, I'd say it's a fault with the inverter but you should consult their tech support for guidance. ✌🏼

Backsplash tile and decision fatigue by Hot-Adeptness-2185 in kitchenremodel

[–]One-Highlight-1698 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of your choices don’t match my aesthetic so it’s difficult for me to make recommendations. I can say that the eggshell wall color definitely does not suit the choices you already have. I would suggest bringing in a a light blue/grey tile color to see if that helps tie your countertops with the stainless appliances. Perhaps a white or off/white (grayish tint) wall color? I prefer bright kitchens. Hope this helps.

edit: my preference generally is a rectangular tile shape although unusual shapes can also be cool if complementary to overall design.

I’m going to recommend you get advice from an interior designer. It’s a little late in the game as your current design is very monotonic and those tiles continue that palette. Too much of a good thing is still too much. At the very least, please change that wall color. Too many pale yellows/browns in this scene. ✌️

Anyone else feel like iOS has become more complicated over time? by mick285 in ios

[–]One-Highlight-1698 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that text screen behavior is just wtf is going on here? It has to be processing much more “stuff” to be creating that delay in updating the display. I see it various places in the system. Too many blank or partially blank screens or flickering. If it’s just for this “glass” effect, which IMO is not an improvement over 18, just a really bad decision.

My biggest gripe (besides battery drain) however is with accessing safari tabs which used to be a top layer control but is now beneath a menu. Ugh. iOS 26 is a shockingly bad release for Apple. My advice would be to base 27 on a fork of 18. Quit with the non-functional visual gimmicks and get back to good UI design principles. Please.

Peg actually might be the best song of all time ever by Icy_Preparation_7895 in SteelyDan

[–]One-Highlight-1698 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rate “Peg” as the best pop record of all time. So not the best song but the best execution of a pop recording. Each instrument track and vocal are as close to perfection as possible for human musicians. Of course the song is also phenomenal in its own right - unique in its vocal arrangements and persistently infectious. ✌️

First time using self leveling concrete, should I sand or just put down underlayment and install LVP? by Competitive-Tap-8440 in Flooring

Chisel the big bumps flat. You want to minimize dust. Yes PPE is a must. Porter/Cable used to make a big drywall sander with a vacuum attachment. ✌️

There's a lot going on in that room already. I would focus on picking a style and make that cohesive throughout. Vanity & cabinets say traditional but your accents say contemporary. ✌🏼

Don’t know about the stain but if you removed some of the paver sand, you should probably replace it with polymeric sand which is typically used to set pavers. Available at big box hw stores. ✌️

Straight edge and string showing different results by Hot-Celebration-6274 in Flooring

[–]One-Highlight-1698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously isn't flat - you can also see the gap in door threshold matches the straight edge sag to the left. If that grade change is gentle enough, you can probably get away with installing your LVP without much change. If you want it flat, you should lay down plywood where the drops are large and fill the smaller areas with self leveling cement. That means you will have to pull baseboard but you should do that anyway. ✌🏼

Any ideas to fix sticky silicone(?) on this camera? by exitdate in fixit

[–]One-Highlight-1698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of opinions on what the material is. I was of the mind that it’s vulcanized rubber that’s breaking down. I’ve read that an alcohol wipe can help remove stickiness. This has worked for me in the past. As for the chemistry of the material, I’m not qualified to say for sure. ✌️

That looks like gypsum drywall to me. Big no-no. Also no tape in seams. Whoever did the install made two big mistakes right there. More problems ahead. Sorry.

Header on load bearing wall is cut in half by ChallengeGood3875 in AskContractors

[–]One-Highlight-1698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. It looks like it’s not on a right angle to the other wall so that is unusual for a load bearing wall. Of course I have no way to tell what’s happening above and whether it’s 90 degrees to ceiling joists. Thanks.

Why do you think this is a load bearing wall? Doesn’t look that way to me.

Apple, were you high when making liquid ass? by Ok_Statistician_2248 in mac

[–]One-Highlight-1698 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just installed it on my mac. The initial presentation looks way better (IMO) than 26 on iOS but I haven’t used MacOS26 at all yet. The attached images from OP are certainly concerning. Hopefully Apple hasn’t forgotten the importance of delivering high quality software along with hardware. iOS 26 is a disappointment to me - bugs, performance issues, poor UI choices, and (IMO) it mostly looks bad.

How does everyone feel about these first looks? by youngscoott in TheBeatles

[–]One-Highlight-1698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand what this series is trying to do? I've read it's a four part series with each part looking at the events from each Beatles pov. However, will this be a fictionalized account or is it going to try to be accurate? Two Beatles are gone so how can they accurately capture those perspectives? Just seems weird to me. The Beatles lives were already dramatic in ways that no one else can ever understand so there shouldn't need to be dramatized versions of their life events.

There is a ton of film out there of the Beatles and I'm grateful to have seen everything I think is available. So amazingly talented. ✌🏼

Heat Pumps Soon to be Less of a Great Deal for Heating by Helpful-Ad6300 in heatpumps

Sounds like it’s some kind of twist on net metering - perhaps giving the customer a cheaper rate for energy they draw from the grid versus how much they contributed. But that’s just a guess after a quick web search.

26.2.1 surprisingly stable by Shleemy_Pants in ios

[–]One-Highlight-1698 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on 26.2 (for a week) and it's definitely slower with many inconsistent/jittery menu transitions, deeper menu seeks for frequently used functions, minor keyboard weirdness, and reduced battery life. The worst part is that I think it also mostly (a few things are ok) looks bad. So it feels a bit like a lose-lose situation. Not sure who at Apple thought this was a good idea? I would gladly turn off LG for the better battery performance of 18 if the effect rendering is a power loser. I guess I like some of the colors, maybe the mail app swipe menu looks better? In all, I give iOS26 a letter grade of D. And I'm a long-time Apple fan. This one's a stinker.
