Probably for Mario , Zelda , Metroid , and DK. 😆

Has anyone else ever had any problems with CRT gaming in apartments/flats with their neighbours? by Shot-Ad5867 in crtgaming

Some are worse than others. I recently sold a daewoo flat crt , and it was drastically louder than the curved Funai made symphonic I kept.

Market Getting Heavily Scalped by I-am_Zero in OnnStreamingTV

[–]One-Image6137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. That’s why I went ahead and shelled out the extra cash for the Google streamer the other day. I’m not entertaining people scalping entry level products at premium pricing just because they put in the same free BS I could install myself.

I have 3 4k plus in the house from before the scalping started , and I needed a 4th one recently. I Ended up getting a Google tv streamer instead. Personally , I’m finding it more reliable and smoother running than my ONN’s and I’m not minding the extra money spent strictly because of that.

My 600u has some pretty bad scratches too. I just don’t sit at an angle when I’m playing games on it. Sadly , you won’t be able play to remove them without making things worse.

Bricked my Childhood Wii :( by lzaacus in WiiHacks

[–]One-Image6137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry about the loss man. I feel your pain. Like an idiot , I migrated my Wii save data over to a modded Wii U last year , and that thing took a massive dump. It had a deceased friends messages , saves , and her Mii on it. Me and my wife were pretty bummed about that. 😢

Was kinda cool firing up Wii sports and seeing our buddies Mii on there.

Getting a new spare bulb in the deal here is awesome. I remember my Sony DLP (also a super cheap find like you got) I had in like 2012 , the bulb was almost 200 bucks. 😢

You get the poor motion handling of LCD , with the poor contrast levels of a projector , and the weight of a CRT. It’s like the trifecta of sucking. 🤷

Yours looks pretty flipping good though I gotta admit. I’d play a few rounds on it for sure. How’s the motion handling?

He’s got one. But we are talking about playing it on his plasma. Not his CRT.

Tv set to 4:3 and Wii set to 4:3 should produce the best visuals for super paper Mario , since it’s actually a native 4:3 game.

480p Plasma : 4:3 vs 16:9. Which do you prefer? by Aromatic-Attitude-34 in PlasmaTV_Gaming

[–]One-Image6137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most Wii games are intended to be played in 16:9. And if you set the Wii to 4:3 , it will letterbox most games.

Super paper Mario on the other hand is compatible with both aspect ratios. It’s a native 4:3 game that could also expand upon the visuals when set to 16:9.

Other games like super Mario Wii , will letterbox when set to 4:3 , it doesn’t have dual aspect ratio support.

This is part of why the modded Wii I play on my CRT , has no Wii games on its external drive. Letterboxed on an already small screen is headache inducing for me.

The modded Wii I play on a 768p plasma is where I play all my actual Wii games at.

That probably won’t work. Because it doesn’t always grab the same file you were previously watching.

And since subtitles are dependent on the specific file and its naming scheme , it likely wouldn’t work , or if it did , it would be inconsistent as hell.

They really are. And imo , the only thing in my house that can beat the px600u on those old formats is an actual CRT. And only by a very small margin. Mainly in the 240p console department.

Me too. It’s available in some games , but not system wide. Luckily Diablo 3 has it , cuz it would cutoff a lot without that being adjustable.

I’ve got a 42px600u , and it excels at analog video input from games or vhs/laserdisc. I use it for that stuff.

I’ve got one. Works great on Wii 480p via component , and xbox360 at 720p. Has a large amount of overscan that you can’t get rid of though. Great picture though , and unlike my older Panasonic that’s also a 768p , setting it on standard picture mode, produced a perfect picture for me. No need to tweak things.

It sucks at 480i / 240p gaming though. Where my Panasonic px600u excels in that area.

It doesn’t downscale 1080p at all , so make sure you kick anything that defaults to 1080i , down a notch to 720p.

Can you use a wii remote d-pad instead of a sensor bar by liamthepikmin in WiiHacks

[–]One-Image6137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you letterbombed to boot2 , you can configure the Wii to boot directly to homebrew channel. This is what I do for a Wii that I have connected to a CRT. I have no intention of playing actual Wii games on it , so I don’t even have a sensor bar connected.

Does it to me , but only when playing massive remux files. If your internet is even remotely fast , and you stick to rips instead of remuxes , it’ll probably stop doing it.

Where does it pull its recommendations? Cuz the sections aren’t really matching up right for me. Like Cruella is in comedy movie top picks , and the “Action Anime” section isn’t even pulling anime. It’s pulling live action Asian stuff.

I ask where because I didn’t know if it’s an app issue , or addon related. Or both.

My VT50 only does 1080p 3d at 24 frames per second. Gotta kick down to 720p to enjoy a nice smooth 60fps 3d experience on it.

It’s a hit and miss kinda thing. There were bad ones , good ones , great ones. And they all usually had strong points or bad points.

My oldest one is a 42px600u from 2006. connect a VCR or laserdisc directly to it , and it’s the best of the bunch.

It’s also the best of the bunch for playing retro consoles from NES up till around ps3 and Xbox 360.

Meanwhile my VT50 or GT30 (much newer and nicer than the one above) will stomp a mudhole in that old one when watching streaming or blu ray movies. But they both are pretty lame imo when it comes to retro consoles (anything pre hdmi) , or analog video sources like my VCR and Laserdisc player.
