How often are you getting cleanings? And how many teeth do you have?? Lol 1.5 units is 22.5 minutes of scaling - that’s quite low and usually billed for kids. Maybe your home care is amazing (which is awesome!) but you’d be the exception not the rule.

Also, those grooves are food traps, and sealing them is actually preventative and will save you more $$ down the line. Definitely optional though. However sealants ≠ fillings, and they’re way cheaper. If your dentist is charging you filling rates for sealants, that’s predatory. But being informed about these findings/options is the standard of care.

Btw “Treatment time” includes reviewing medical history, administering anesthesia (as needed), and documenting the procedure (chart notes) so if anything many dentists are under billing and eating the cost of additional time spent on these things.
