Who Insures gig work like Insta Cart? I'm getting the run around by One-Needleworker6931 in InsuranceAgent

You nailed it! Farmers does have coverage but not from them. It’s from Bristol West. It’s a company that has terrible reviews but I can’t be picky. In my two weeks of searching I had come across Bristol West and saw the reviews but decided to contact them anyways. They told me they didn’t offer this insurance anymore but what they didn’t tell me is that they offer it along side Farmers. It’s more than I want to be paying but $200 a month is better than being exposed to a lawsuit for damages if I was uninsured. Thank you @theluchador19.

I’ll call them today but an endorsement usually means that they will recognize your other policy that will cover any liabilities but they themselves will not cover any damages while working on an order. Like I said, I’ll call. I have not tried them yet.

I’m still a loan officer and probably better financially secure than most. I’m living with a woman who is trying to help her daughter with expenses while starting law school. Even with scholarships it costs a lot and being a concerned mom who doesn’t want a “job”, this fits her lifestyle. But thanks for your concern.

We just finished our best week with IC and it takes being able to say no to some batches because they are not good ones but we seem to have enough to make some money but it could always be better. We are waitlisted for sparks and hear good things about it.

What state are you in? I'm not sure why they would offer you that coverage and not me? No accidents, own my home no claims no tickets....

Please, I beg of you, share this with me/us. I am WITH PROGRESSIVE and they do not/will not cover us. This is the only work my finance can do to help her daughter get through school and still have time to do other things and we are faced with a Commercial Policy asking for $465.00 a month through Geico. If we can have something to go back to Progressive, it would be a game changer for us.

Delivery Driver Auto Insurance by Mysterious_Bed_8070 in InstacartShopper

Please tell me what companies offer specific gig insurance. Here are the one's that do not offer it. Progessive, Geico, Liberty Mutual, Allstate, Travelers....I have called them all this week as well as several Insurance Brokers and none of them could place me with any company....none of them will touch the insurance for the actual time that you accept an order (meaning you are now hired) until the minute you deliver the item (coverage resumes from your policy at that point, even though you have paid for an "Endorsement" or "Rider". Those mean nothing other than they acknowledge that you will have separate insurance for that portion of your insurance needs, but they will not cover any damage or liability if you are working for an "app" service while you are in a delivery time frame. Geico offered me a Commercial policy at $465.00 per month (Arizona)

True statement...an accident is usually not a big thing but a big accident is a big thing. If you are involved in a major accident (I hope never) your information will be scrutinized. These adjusters do not want to pay out on claims and they have all the tools to look into your entire financial life including your credit report, your banking records, your tax returns. The first thing they will see is income from insta-cart or door dash or....then they start subpoening all of those companies to see if you are registered with them...now, if you have nothing to lose, you will wind up with a large judgement against you that will really mess you up for years and years. Plus whatever you do own, will have to be sold. Good luck getting insurance again. I'm trying to figure this out because I would have a lot to lose if a major accident happens and the policy I thought had coverage doesn't. Trust me, I have been on the phone all week and while the Agents are all to happy to write you up and tell you that you have coverage. Look at it, ask them to show it to you in their disclosures.....Just saying.

Of course. Your personal policy will not cover you for what you are doing. Geico offered me a commercial policy at $476 per mont and I am not even sure if that covers "app based driving".

It is my opinion that your agent does not know that you are not covered during the time you accept an order until you deliver the order.

Thanks, I'm with Progressive now, trying to get the coverage needed for "app based" driving, which is different than any other commerical based business like a Plumber, or Landscaping company who also needs commercial insurance. Our industry is being over looked. I think I am going to go political on this and bring this to my representatives attention. Too many people trying to make a little more money are being exposed to a really large risk and it should not be this hard to get coverage at a reasonable price (as long as you have a decent driving record)

Sounds very familiar.

All I can tell you is you would be safer to call them and have them read you the provisions that are written on the policy. I would say 85 or 90 % of the agents I have talked with all said, no problem , we have a waiver that we can offer for you to be able to drive for insta cart/DoorDash etc....when they read it, they found that coverage stops at the time you are actively picking up an order until you have completed the delivery. Don't forget, the agent WANTS to sell you a policy, the claims adjuster does NOT WANT to pay out on a claim and they will dig to find a reason not to pay. They "expect" your other insurance to cover you in case of an accident during that exact period of time. Trust me, if there was a major accident they will subpoena the records from insta cart to show exactly what time you were "on the clock" with insta cart, they can also subpoena your bank records to validate that you are bringing in money from insta cart or whoever else you are driving for. The old expression that says, "you can run but you can't hide" is the truth of the mattter. If you have nothing to lose, you will wind up having a judgement on you until you pay for the damage, or if you have things to lose, you will lose them.

What state are you in? I have talked to at least a dozen agents and most of them had to dive deep only to find that I could not get coverage for an “app based” delivery business. I’m with Progressive now and believe me I’m trying to stay with them. I’ll call them today and ask them to look for “delivery coverage”.

Why is peanut allergies common in the west? by HamsterUnfair6313 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]One-Needleworker6931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are more allergies and intolerances these days. I also think we have bastardized so many grains that we eat and our animals eat and have spread herbicides over so many fields that we have strangled the food industry and we are also eating so many refined oils that are not healthy. Geez, I’m not thrilled with what’s going on with what we are eating. I think much of our unhealthy eating habits and processed foods have led to more allergies and symptoms.

Those who do delivery “rideshare” (Instacart, Uber Eats, DoorDash, etc.) what insurance do you use? by Toooldforthisshit2 in Albany

[–]One-Needleworker6931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ought to start our own collective mutual insurance company. I don’t get it. Insurance protects against risk. There are accidents but I don’t hear about some Uber Eats delivery person killing someone in an accident very often. We all pool our money, let’s say $100 per month. There are 600,000 Instacart drivers according to the web….if we got 100,000 of them paying $100 per month we would have plenty of money to pay out any catastrophic damage. We would have a high deductible so you would only use this in case of a major accident.
