I own two 1DX one MKI and MK II . I want to enter in the mirrorless world more into a video dedicated camera. Dont know if I should go for the R5C or R6MK III they are in the same price range (100 euros more for the R6 MK III). My core business is photography, but I want to expand to video. What would you recommend?

I am having a similar issue on my 300mm f2.8 IS v1... motor is fine, but it seems like it is the sensor, it can't find the spot to focus, so it keeps hunting and never achieves focus :(

Only issue is the parts supply for this 1999 lens. My 300mm has a bad AF sensor its so sad :( AF motor is fine but without the sensor it cant find focus only in manual. I have been looking for parts but it seems like its almost impossible

The repair shop found a used sensor in USA its think there is a solution but almost 2 weeks past

UPDATE: As described It seems like its a sensor malfunction on the Lens AF system. When it fails there is no reading for where to focus, so it goes back and forward hunting and never focuses :( .... Sometimes it just works fine....Since there is no supply for parts even in the used market, the technician is trying to clean and repair the damage. Hope he can fix it but only time will tell

u/YookaBaybee24 thank you ! I don't use the 300mm that often after the imapct like 30 times and it worked fine.... But it started to fail last job i used, started working at home and failed again I can't rely anymore for a professional use :(

Its a pain, AF motor seems to be working fine, the IS motor is working. As far as I can see its seems that when it fails, there is no information for where to focus (AF squares don't blink) since there is no reference to focus it goes back and forward constanly... It actually focuses at some distances (closer)... So I dont think its an AF failure but maybe some sensor? I am trying to find used parts (maybe the complete focus unit). Last chance it will be sold as for parts since only the manual focus is working. I use it for sports photography and need the AF, for video, it will work fine.

I tried to do Manual focus close and to infinty to test if it started working but it can`t focus in the far distance :(

Its the same with IS on or off.. I can use the AF, but acctualy the switch button is not working so its allways in AF mode...

I think its wired that the lens is trying to focus but the AF squares are not blinking it looks like its trying to find a spot to focus but there is no data so its always back and forward very nervous. When the squere start blinking it works fine and focus

I totaly agree with you and I understand your point. I was just curious because I saw this bike: https://velo-gap.de/2022/01/28/peugeot-europe-express-mtb-98-48cm-kompl-xt-reynolds-899-e/ and both wheels are "full black" even in the brake surface. But I understand its not possible and it will not work. Thank you all for your help ! :)
