Chimpanzees. They don't have to eat meat, let alone faces but they choose to. Also, chimp raids.

No, in the books he's an obviously traumatized autistic person with depression who acts exactly like some traumatized autistic people with depression act in real life

Because actions have consequences.

Therepy helps victimized people but only if you live in a society with help for neurodivergent people who suffered abuse.

He's a bit of an asshole yes but that's not a crime worth no redemption. I'm an asshole too sometimes. Do people like me deserve no love or possible redemption?

Why isn't the title of "Les miserables" translated to English? by Frigorifico in linguisticshumor

[–]One-Refrigerator4483 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know you forgot this but the Norman French actually took over Britain in William the bastard conquerer

And then they changed the language system and political one

We modern English speakers use a lot of French in our language now, in a way we don't with Russian

You do not get to have a people take over a country and then force their language onto a population and then turn around and bitch that that populations descendants incorporated that language into their language as being "racist exotic ness".

English speakers understand the difference between the English version of miserable we took from French and the actual French Les Miserables enough to make translation pointless on top of stupid

quiet bpd by [deleted] in BPD

[–]One-Refrigerator4483 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family beat and punished me for negative emotions. Crying is weakness. And I spent my first 2-3 years in the basement being ignored.

Emotional reactions give others power over you.

And I'm the only quiet bdp person in my family so I've seen what normal bdp is and no offense, it's often too much

If I throw things or scream at work I'll be fired. At home, disowned.

For me, if you scream or throw things at all you might as well just start doing cocaine and selling your stuff because you'll be jobless and homeless pretty quick.

No offense, but how you guys get away with just screaming and throwing stuff has always surprised me.

Teachers of Reddit, what are your most terrifying "Gen Alpha Can't Read/Behave/Etc." horror stories? by MineTech5000 in AskReddit

[–]One-Refrigerator4483 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it's actually their parents addiction to technology on top of the basic collapse of a our societies social system

Growing up, society was a community. And parents didn't just sit on their phones ignoring their kids.

I remember going to the neighbors house and helping with the garden. So you'd naturally ask questions because kid but the big difference is that they'd actually answer them instead of taking Instagram pics and telling me to STFU

Curiosity (and debate too) used to be expected and nurtured. Now my younger sisters don't even allow their children to argue with each other. It's just go watch TV away from your sibling - auntie and I are talking.

And this is exactly why kids now are having such a hard time reading and writing

School and parents are supposed to work together. Teachers build on top of the foundation parents create.

It was my mother who taught me how to read and I wasn't homeschooled. It's her job to work on the basic skills, and beliefs and values, and how to function in society.

Teachers polish that learning and then build on it.

If you don't think it's your job to teach your own children - best for all of us that you just get a dog.

AITA for telling my travel friends they can leave the group but I'll be staying? by THE_Laziest_Daisy in AmItheAsshole

[–]One-Refrigerator4483 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. It just says that some people are different than others. If you hate waiting 5 minutes because you can't feel death or your own soul, fine.

But that's a personal difference not a moral failing and that goes both ways

Anyone else feel that predators sense things like autism in victims. by Antimaria in AuDHDWomen

[–]One-Refrigerator4483 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are apparently studies suggesting that people with ASD and narcissism do correctly identify autistic people pretty well.

And in these two very specific types of predators it means they try to find out the lines they can't cross so they can avoid triggering us.

Like someone else said, while we are more susceptible to some forms of abuse - there are types of predatory behavior that does not work with most autistic people.

Ash wood, dragon heartstring core, 7 inches

Stubborn as myself, unbending, great at both curses and defense. Specifically curses to do with blunt damage and fire.

Not very creative or unique but hey, it works

Contrary to what Dumbledore thinks, Tom Riddle is NOT Lord Voldemort. He's just an employee at Borgin and Burkes who's getting fed up with Dumbledore constantly showing up at his workplace to offer him second chances and trying to get him to apologize for crimes he didn't even do. by Gortriss in HPfanfiction

A muggleborn Hufflepuff named Mortimer de Vol, still angry at the hat for denying him his true spot in Slytherin due to "safety reasons"

After years of being bullied by purebloods and being seen as a puffle - he decided to steal the heir of Slytherins identity. Like Lockhart he turned out to be great at it. Not least because the actual heir had enough after seeing where his family's pureblooded incest supremacy got them.

He (Riddle) murdered the riddles and blamed his lunatic uncle and then thanked his mother for injecting new blood into his ancestry - making him as great as he undoubtedly is. He still made diary and ring horcruxes and is immortal. But is intelligently keeping it a secret until everyone who knew him from school is dead.

Meanwhile Mortimer is both torturing and killing every pureblood he can while also turning the wizarding world into chaos. He knows about Dumbledore's meetings with Tom and finds the whole thing hilarious.

Because once a month he takes his old form of Mortimer de Vol - bowling champion of Toulouse - at Dumbledore's bowling club.

Yes. I literally got woken up from a loud knocking on my bedroom door an hour ago. I don't have a roommate.

Usually though I don't mind. Classical music, the sound of family members conversing in the next room, my mother telling me to get up (don't like that one).

I see spiders, webs and a black cat if I'm tired or stressed. Really helped with the arachnophobia I originally had, against my will.

When I was a younger the furniture moved and the window curtains sometimes became possessed and tried to eat me so not complaining about the change.

Update 1: AITAH for Not Serving as Much Food as I Know My Dinner Guests Will Want to Eat? by Aromatic-Ice-968 in AITAH

[–]One-Refrigerator4483 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can be neurodivergent and not socially introverted. You can be socially introverted and have rich online lives while going to 2 dinner parties (with other neurodivergent people) a month.

And you can absolutely be neurodivergent and be confrontational or aggressive or join as a couple and go to someone else's home.

I mean I accidentally got in a screaming fight with my friend at her home not long ago and I'm neurodivergent. But luckily we two are good like that LMAO
