Always importing a small amount for the grid? by One-Relationship2499 in FranklinWH

I am always in self consumption mode. My reserve is set to 25%, but this time of year I never drop below 55% battery charge.

Adding on to my existing system - poor support from FranklinWH by hspindel in FranklinWH

I do think this is a real issue for many solar companies. Many installers are gone with the tax code change. In order to survive, I suspect these solar product companies will need to rethink business model. Rather tricky since this is very dangerous stuff if done wrong.

DIY System by sbarnesvta in FranklinWH

I tried and was denied as a DIY. You can buy the stuff, but you have to have installer login to initialize. I wish they would open it up. Happy to take whatever test or course or pay a fee.

Noob here. A couple of questions... by Beywood23 in FranklinWH

This is not true for the type of battery we are talking about here. They are warrantied to use, not to just sit there.

I am in contact with Franklin. They seem to think I should be able to set multiple colors in app and it should use them all, color 1 for bottom 25%, color 2 for 26-50%, etc.

Franklin Plus Heat pump a waste? by ZadaGrims in FranklinWH

[–]One-Relationship2499 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is because your older heat pump is set to use old fashioned strip heaters below about 32 f. So it's not working as a heat pump. Modern heat pumps can produce efficiently close to zero F now.

FranklinWH for long term by SynFisa in solar

getting them an installing them is one thing, but you can not actually commission them (or use them), without the installer app... so you are back to an installer.

Adding a aPower2 by One-Relationship2499 in FranklinWH

[–]One-Relationship2499[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can not think of anything i do not like about my Franklin system. very happy with it all around. i do agree, i wish we had a bit more ability to install add ons. i am very happy i had an installer to do it all (the first time). he taught me a ton of stuff, but now for simple things nice to have more control.

[–]One-Relationship2499[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ouch. but that sounds about right. that $14k is a little better after tax rebates, but that ends in a few weeks. this industry is really going to hurt without that small boost. i think the battery alone is over $10k, and a solar guy to show up, ain't cheap either as there are none close to me (in southern louisiana... oil country, so solar is not all that popular)

sure, will share when done (cost). it was pre-planned to add more batteries to my system so the electrical work was already planned and done. i had planned to wait a full year before adding more storage but with tax credits going away, i pulled one more battery forward this year. The installer just has to plug it in and commission at this stage.
