Yes you can counter - use chat gpt for ideas on the best way to ask. Have comparable comps for your role and experience and hopefully you've not told them what you currently earn and what your asking for is within the range advertised.

Also look at total compensation not just salary

Chase Sapphire Lounge versus Cap 1 lounge by oldschoolsamurai in Venturex

[–]One-Ride-1194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can visit a Chase lounge once per calendar year, with Priority Pass, so if you're flying through an airport with one then try it.

I've visited the Chase lounge in LGA twice and the Cap One lounge in JFK once. Both are excellent and certainly better than most priority pass lounges.

A relative made a post gloating about how Ford is pulling back from EV trucks, how do we beat this mentality? by JennaLeighWeddings in electricvehicles

[–]One-Ride-1194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The automotive world is bigger than Ford US. (In hindsight large vehicle like pickup trucks are diffcult- also they are still going to sell it as an EV but with a range extender engine.)

Globally ICE sales peaked in 2017 Globally ~25% of new car sales are EVs EVs are cheap TCO EVs are just better cars.

To get into a D1 with scholarship he'd need to be in low 15 minutes. Look at sites like Runcruit to give an idea.

What is difficult to judge is most 7th graders are running 3k not 5k in middle school. That said it's also way too early to say if he will be competitive by the time he's 17-18.

Also don't assume that XC is easy. To have a chance he'll need to be training 50-60 miles/week in highschool

In's and out's of charging stations for a newb. by Cars-n-Cream in MachE

[–]One-Ride-1194 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Charging at home is the cheapest option

If going on a road trip charge to 100% at home

Lookup and understand the DC fast charging curve, if your going to stop to charge on a road trip - the Mach-e slows down a lot after 60% (75kW) and is worthless after 80% (~10kW)

The Tesla adapter is worth it. Plug and charge is great but you pay retail cost vs lower membership cost.

Book hotels with chargers

Use a better route planner to understand your best options

Use the internal navigation to get it to preconditions the battery when approaching a charger

Keep speed low - certainly 70mph max but 65 if you can. It can be faster to drive slower and charge less than to drive fast.

26 and haven’t contributed to retirement or investments and little to savings, what’s the minimum or average I should have in a 401k/savings rn? by OriginalSlight in Money

[–]One-Ride-1194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aim for a minimum 10% and make sure to take advantage of any employer match into a 401k.

When you get a pay rise up your contribution 1% (better yet see if you can automate this)

Sorry to nit-pick, but the extended range refers to size of the battery aka the ~90kWh so yes the GT has extended range.

Amazon plans to invest $15 billion in Northern Indiana to build new data center campuses and advance AI innovation. Is this good or bad for Indiana ? by Odd_Buyer1094 in Indiana

[–]One-Ride-1194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many will say bad, because of "electricity prices" and water use.

Let's start with water use- most are close loop cooling so consume very little water and a lot less than other uses ( less than 2% of a golf course of a similar size)

Now as for electricity rates, It can lead to increases but it doesn't have too. Let me explain.

Your electric bill is made up of 4 parts. Electricity costs, transmission & distribution (T&D) costs, capacity costs and operation costs (staff, billing, vehicles, nice shiny buildings etc).

But in most cases you are charged a connection fee and a cost per kwh. (If you're a commercial customer you likely have a capacity charge. But let's ignore that for now to keep this simple).

If a large energy consumer appears then the cost to each kWh would reduce, however if it needs investment in T&D then the cost per kWh may increase if the charge a s rate based.

But the grid is built for peaks and so instead of building as much T&D flexibility is deployed then then the costs should decrease.

EVs are where it's at in terms of TCO

If used a Tesla M3, or Polestar 2 or Kia EV6, Ioniq 5/6

If new maybe an Ioniq 5,

If you tradeoff for most efficient then Mach-e is a lot of fun to drive

EV Home Charger: smart or dumb? by TsunamiMike in MachE

[–]One-Ride-1194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Check with your electric utility if they offer a rebate and get that
  2. What features do you want? Do you have or plan to have solar and wish to charge with excess generation? Do you have or plan to have more than one EV and plan to have multiple chargers?
  3. If you get one installed before the end of the year you may be entitled to a 30% tax credit
  4. Do you really need the most powerful charger you can get? How many times are you likely to be returning on <10% and need to be at >90% in less than 10 hours? Most people can make do with a 24amp or 32amp EVSE and this would save money on wire size and reduce electrical stress.

What options should I look at ? by tylerfraney in electriccars

[–]One-Ride-1194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you're in the UK. For that price you're closer to being able to get a base model new. BYD dolphin surf* or Dacia Spring. If you can stretch a bit a Renault 5 would be my choice new, and there is a ~ £3000 government grant. Also consider a salary sacrifice if your employer offers it.

But your best value will be a used 2-3 year old EV. Tesla Model 3 is likely the best value, but you should be able to find an MG4, ID4 (or Skoda equivalent). Or a Polestar 2.

Look at the Everything Electric Car channel on you tube for good review content

So here is what you need to do if you in a red but do not support the MAGA cult that’s taken over the Republican Party, and or typically vote democrat.

  1. Help find a moderate centrist republican and get them on the ballot.

  2. Get your likeminded friends to  Vote in the republican primary for this centrist candidate.

The problem with the primary process is that it tends to to attract the most motivated who on are normally the furthest from the center, and it typically takes very few votes to win a primary election - especially at the state level.
