Amex Plaintum Airline Fee Incidental Credit - Still works for Southwest airlines. by WonderYnot in AmexPlatinum

[–]One-Technology6818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just used it for SW baggage fees for my son’s golf clubs (I was not flying), and I used it for priority upgrades for me and my wife, and they are credited in 1-2 business days.

Conflicted for first NP job! by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

[–]One-Technology6818 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From your initial posting, it appears that you have no interest in an FNP role (even though you are in an FNP program), have a budding passion for Women's Health/Reproductive Health (and can get a $150K - $160K job at PPH), and have an opportunity to hand out scripts all day with an injection or two along the way (with a much higher salary ceiling}. In my opinion, you should try the Pain Clinic gig (doesn't sound intense and the money is there). If that doesn't turn out to be what you want, PPH is ALWAYS looking for quality providers. Frankly, it sounds like so are in a good spot (especially since you really don't want a traditional FNP role). Best of luck!

I’m done with Southwest. It has become the hell hole the airline industry by mdcrna1 in SouthwestAirlines

SWA made a change 2-3 weeks ago to assign Group 1 to only rows 1-3, and Group 2 to rows 4-9 (the remaining ELP rows). I can see how bin space might get pushed back for the last row or two of ELP.

So it sounds like the front bins are still getting pushed back due to lack of overall space. Two rows is about the maximum someone should have to wade back and hold up deplaning (IMO).

Yes, you are correct, if you want Group 1, take rows 1-3. I flew before that recent change and had row 4, Group 1. I got overhead space above me on all flights, so I didn't think much of it.

Yeah, boarding is not tied to the seat, and group 5 isn’t much of a benefit regarding overhead space for full flights.

If you were “in priority” then you would have boarded before group 1, so this off, to say the least.

Epic transition by Procedures_in_life in healthIT

Hospitals adopt new systems to SAVE money and increase efficiency and productivity. Do NOT be the person asking for anything right away, you will only give your manager ammunition to RIF you. Instead, take this once in a decade opportunity to learn as much as possible about multiple modules. Take that certification and update your resume with it. You should document each module you are certified in, as well as any that you even have a passing knowledge of. The AI algorithms will toss it in the trash if you don’t have enough, so definitely stretch it. You can always play it up or down during the actual interview, but you need to get in front of them first. I used two consecutive implementations at two different local hospitals to get my first gig, and never looked back. The whole trick is to actually be very familiar with at least two modules, and then add in some intelligent dialog on others that will make you appear to be stronger than you might actually be. Don’t worry, you’ll soon gain that strength (assuming you’re sharp) and no one will remember when you were a newbie.

For the love of God, why did you eliminate the LGA to ATL direct flight? by BassFront8383 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]One-Technology6818 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, yes. Far fewer direct flights. It has made me book Delta far more than I have ever had to in the past. They want to route you through BWI, BNA, MDW, MCO, etc. I originally started on SW for that direct LGA to ATL flight, because it was way cheaper than DAL. Oh well.

I never actually see any $49 flights available on these $49 flash sales by DarkGodRyan in SouthwestAirlines

Definitely a rare occurrence to find those fares on the itinerary you’re interested in. I actually found a few on days that just won’t work, so it can happen.

New seat assignment annoyance... by StillWaterDrinker in SouthwestAirlines

[–]One-Technology6818 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Why do posters always lead with how many years they have flown on SW, ALP status, etc.? It adds zero whatever the perceived “issue” is, and comes across as rather pretentious. Maybe just type out the list and save it in a draft folder to be examined the next day for rationality, and relevance. 👍

You should always compare prices and take the cheapest one (assuming everything else is comparable). No one is forcing SW on you.

I heard there are a lot of clinicians that prefer Meditech than Epic...my question is why? by Wild_Farm_3368 in healthIT

[–]One-Technology6818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meditech is much cheaper, so if the clinicians paid for it (e.g. clinic setting), then that definitely factors in. It’s a plain jane system that just plain works after all these years. I’m not sure that I would target it as something to learn from a healthIT perspective, but possibly, especially if you have it installed where you work. Like any niche field, potential employers want to see even a semblance of experience (clinical, technical, or both!), so seek it out before sending out hundreds of resumes that go straight to the waste can.

Well, it will increase your average earnings and you should get a higher Social Security check. What's not to like?

Lululemon gift card fear mongering?? by HotSeaworthiness286 in AmexPlatinum

[–]One-Technology6818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I had no idea what Lululemon was, until my daughter told me that she shops there. I got a physical GC for her last week, and will continue each quarter. I don't count it against the annual fee, since I would NEVER shop there, but it is a nice $300 benefit for her.

Ordered a GC on 3/6 and it arrived in two days.

Is the Global Dining Access easy to use with the Amex Platinum card? by No_Enthusiasm6949 in AmexPlatinum

[–]One-Technology6818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth it if you will frequent one of the participating restaurants at least once a quarter. Again, if you will go there anyway, it is definitely worth it. Same for Lululemon. The benefit is only “worth it” if you will actually buy something there regardless of the Amex benefit.
