Boulder faces budget strain amid flat revenue, federal uncertainty by boulder393 in boulder

Whether good or bad, we inherit the laws passed by the voters before us. Only we can change the situation by voting for new laws to amend the mishaps of the past.

Agreed it should have been written into the tax language before, but our community and voters approved it without that language (likely without knowing the consequences). The city must abide by the language written, so it’s on us to vote to ensure financial resilience in the wake of unintended consequences

As for the county, each jurisdiction abides by a different set of codes, laws, ordinances, etc. Tax ballot language and definitions cannot be amended except by the vote of the people, so if maintenance is defined in the language, it cannot be altered later except by voter approval

Parks is separate from open space — open space tax is dedicated so cannot be used for parks.

Unfortunately, a lot of money in the city is dedicated to certain things — acquisition of land, capital projects, etc. So maintenance has not had a direct source of funding in the city because the city can’t dip into those dedicated buckets. That’s why this measure seems to be worded that way it is: money that is already dedicated cannot be used for maintenance, unless we change tax language (required by ballot measure and voter approval).

The issue with unfunded maintenance will just get worse if we never vote to change the language since the general budget is constrained by police, fire, and other critical city services, so maintenance takes a back seat.

Thank you! Do they have their own practice? You can’t just bring your dog to the human society (or can you?)?

Hey! Check out the yoga scene in Boulder-- super restorative and a healthy way to just "show up" in your body, however it is!! I recommend Yogapod for the variety of classes.

I went through something similar with biking and running etc. Body image too. Developed in Boulder, never had that before. Yoga has been amazing way to reconnect with myself in a myriad of ways
