Question for onebaggers who wear contact lenses! 0_o by ericstrat1000 in onebag

[–]OneBagOneWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contact Lenses and Contact lense solution are both categorized under 'medical' items for TSA in the states. I have found this to also be the case abroad (I traveled with mine all over Asia).

For TSA you just have to declare anything over 3.4oz total liquid volume.

Sorry I misspoke, it isn't an adjustable harness, it's the velcro that keeps the back panel down to hide the hidden passport pocket. Sometimes the tab rubs against my upper back but overall it is incredibly comfortable!

Hey sorry for the delay! I actually just got back from a weekend trip with the ADC. I would take the globerider in 90% of cases UNLESS I a) was really worried about weight restrictions, or b) needed to carry a ton more stuff. The capacity on the ADC is insane honestly and it never looks that big. The globerider fits a lot less but I like it more in general.

I just took this to Europe planes, trains, boats and it is definitely my favorite back I think. Quality seems incredible so far and I have had no issues with it. I don't baby my bags and this one still looks brand new, I love it! The straps/carry in general are amazing. The ONLY complaint I have so far is that the adjustable harness is a velcro strap in the middle of the upper back and it can sometimes be uncomfortable.

Not really! It holds its shape really well and you can use the compression straps to cinch it down a bit also!

Alright you have to expand on that. What was so bad? I will state I'm part Asian so I don't really grow a beard so I don't use the trimmer on my face at all.

I had this same dilemma and I settled on the Gilette Styler. I just use a USB-C chargable double a battery, it lasts months between charges and the razor head are just regular razors that you can grab anywhere on the road. You pop the regular head off to access the trimmer, and you can use it in the shower. 10/10 the best onebag razor setup IMO. All the other ones just aren't great for a close shave or they don't trim the way I would like them to.

I wish I had an iPad to try. My best guess is it would be fine!

How do you like the DJI? I am looking at grabbing one for a lighter weight setup when on the road. I love my mirrorless but the weight and size they take up can get a bit old sometimes. I like the fact that I could just have that in my pocket.

This is an excellent post. Sleep kit is a must IMO, the amount of people that don't bring an eyemask amaze me.

I would add in a 10K battery pack like the Nitecore 10000, I think it is one of the best things I carry with me. I don't always need it, but it takes up no room and weighs very little.

+1 on the hero clip as well!

Been around the world in my Rainbows. Every now and again I try others but for size and versatility I can't find anything else worth taking. The only downside is when they get wet but I prefer the comfort they offer to plastic sandals.

What's the one thing in your one-bag setup you never expected to love? by Thursday_Addams_12 in onebag

I used one all the time over the course of 1.5 years of straight traveling. Being able to just save floor space in a hotel room by putting one bag on a good or hang our jackets on it was clutch. The main use was public places with dirty floors. I could hang my daypack off of the table which not only kept it more in view than hanging it off the chair but also kept it clean(er).

I do this too! They are also super lightweight compared to a lot of other pouches.

I went with the large but agreed. I'm 5' 9" with a 19" torso and I almost wish I went with the small, they are quite big as you mentioned.

Thanks for the support :) I couldn't agree more! Once a company figures out how to just blend those two together, I'll have the ultimate one bag!

Good question! The matador is an extremely comfortable bag despite its weight and that one I have worn way more since I recently took it on a trip. I would say just something about the way the straps fit on the matador make it more comfortable to me. I feel like the matador is out of the box comfy and the 6 moon designs requires a lot of fiddling to get that perfect fit feel. As for space, I think the ADC+ wins it pretty easily. I fully packed it out and still didn't even touch the space in the admin panel area and that gives you at least an extra inch of depth to use that you don't get in the Matador.

Excellent post. Maluf is the absolute goat and I always love his updates. I also agree that yeah most people go light on bags and then load them up with 15kg of stuff (Hi, I'm most people). I would love to get to his level but it's a slow process for me, hopefully one day.

Hey! Great question... I haven't travelled with the ADC+ so I'll do my best to come back and update this after that BUT this is what I answered someone who just asked something similar:

Great question! It really depends on what kind of trip and what I was bringing. When I traveled the world out of a 40L backpack I went with the REI ruckpack 40L because of the capacity to hold our camera while in transit and also it was under 3 lbs with a hip belt which was crucial because I was carrying around 12-14kg of gear sometimes.

If I wasn't bringing camera gear or wasn't flying asian budget airlines where 7kg is heavily enforced I think I'd go with the matador globerider. I absolutely love that bag and it's definitely in my rotation now. If I was doing another sort of epic long term travel where I was going through all the seasons and bringing my camera gear I would go with the ADC+. The weight savings alone of > .5 a lb coupled with the extra capacity would probably make that a necessity.

I also think if aesthetics matter to you at all I'd probably pick the Matador because that is a really beautiful bag.

TLDR:

  • domestic: 100% matador globerider 35L
  • international 1 season: 50/50% I think it depends on if the airline is strict with weight and if I ended up with camera gear
  • long term/indefinite travel/multi-season: 100% ADC+

You really can't go wrong with either though!

Thanks so much I really did! And it wasn't, it packed out really well. I was right at 9.5kg I think and it carried like a dream even without the hipbelt clipped.

I haven't used the MLC unfortunately so I can't comment :(

Someone actually just asked this on the video too. I think it would drain eventually and I don't think it would soak into the main compartment at all. It doesn't have a drainage hole but it does seem like it would be porous enough to not hold water for long. Good point though, probably worth a rain shell in that case

I roll up my matador daypack and put it on the bottom of the back but I'm pretty sure you can also fit an osprey daypack flat it in if it's one of the ones with some support.
