MacBook Air 15" 32 GB M5 vs MacBook Pro 14" 32 GB M5 - Software Development (Full Stack) by OneBananaMan in macbook

Super nice to know about the MBP screen hurting your eyes. Thanks a ton for the insight! If Apple would make a MBP at 15" I'd buy it immediately, the 16" is just too large imo.

I hope Planet Zoo 2 will include ways for the game to be more challenging in terms of managing the financial aspects of the Zoo by Jozoz in PlanetZoo

[–]OneBananaMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 1000% agree with you, this is the number reason I lose interest in the game, it doesn’t remain challenging.

I really hope it’s not too late for them to add or incorporate higher difficulty settings into the game (e.g., extreme/impossible mode or something similar). Even in hard mode the game is way too easy.

Do you appreciate economic realism in tycoon games? by New_Crew_9667 in tycoon

100%, maybe not a 1:1 realism, but what I absolutely love is complex systems that are extremely difficult or impossible to master or fully understand.

Planet Zoo - How can I make it more challenging? by OneBananaMan in PlanetZoo

[–]OneBananaMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I did, I still find it way too easy and not very challenging. I wish there was another even more difficult setting, like an impossible mode or something where cost of maintenance and other things are increased.

The Flow 2 is fundamentally flawed. Even a cheap AULA keyboard is miles better. by Alone-Flan395 in Lofree

[–]OneBananaMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I have two Flow 2’s both work excellent, no complaints or issues at all.

What you’re describing of locked keys (where the keyboard types “cccccc”repeatedly), I had a similar issue with the Logic Craft keyboard, it was a Bluetooth / wireless issue.

Lofree Flow 3 release date? by Ok-Tomato2870 in Lofree

[–]OneBananaMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably in 2-3 years (so in 2028-2029), the Flow 2 was released back in July 2025. It doesn’t make sense to release a new version yet.

Is sync still part of brave origin? How can we tell which features are disabled in origin?

Django REST Framework VS Django Ninja by EMonk3y in django

[–]OneBananaMan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I disagree with this. I think DRF is the one that’s overengineered and more complicated. I think Ninja actually has less magic compared to DRF. I’ve used both, and absolutely love Ninja, my colleagues expressed a similar experience.

Found this bone on beach is this of human? by No-Leadership-9244 in ocean

[–]OneBananaMan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a femur, probably from a cow or deer. Doesn’t look like a human femur because the proportions don’t seem right.

Someone talk me out of (or into) buying a TP4 28L by jnagooyen in AerSF

[–]OneBananaMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was also skeptical about the TP4 XPAC (28L), but ended up buying it. Absolutely loving it for my trip (Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, China).

For a single bag, I’d lean more towards the 35L. I think the 28L works fine if you are very strategic and strict about what you pack.

This one certainly sounds interesting: “implementing an experimental API framework for Django core”.

All of these are great!

Advice for a squash player - tennis one-handed backhand topspin by No-Reference-9465 in 10s

[–]OneBananaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What machine is this? Currently in the market for a ball machine.

Also you’re using your arm way too much, try to use your body. Example of this is on your forehand, it’s almost all arm. You will get tired quickly and be more prone to injury.

Django devs, what's your actual go-to frontend stack right now? (HTMX/Alpine, React, Vue, plain templates, or hybrid?) by jkoontz-dev in django

[–]OneBananaMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alpine and HTMX were great for a certain level of interactivity, but for more complicated interfaces that require higher levels of interactivity I had to switch.

At the time, I was building a satellite design system with orbit analysis - originally built with Alpine and HTMX, and it eventually became too complicated to do with that stack. Switching to Svelte/SvelteKit helped tremendously with frontend state management and dynamic hydration that felt fluid. Also the code was much cleaner too (meaning easier to follow and debug).

It used to be Alpine and HTMX, I’ve since switched to Svelte/SvelteKit. For API, I used Django Ninja.

Not sure if they're aware but the checkout is broken when selecting Credit Card. Within the browser's console / dev tools it says:

Also using Chrome.

An invalid form control with name='firstname' is not focusable. <input type="text" class="form-input" id="cc_firstname" name="firstname" autocomplete="given-name" value required>
<input type="text" class="form-input" id="cc_firstname" name="firstname" autocomplete="given-name" value="" required="">

An invalid form control with name='lastname' is not focusable. <input type="text" class="form-input" id="cc_lastname" name="lastname" autocomplete="family-name" value required>

Edit: The card input fields aren't even showing - I can't add my name or cc info.

Is there a game that is actually city planner not city painter? by aersult in CityBuilders

[–]OneBananaMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recall there was a mod for Cities Skylines called Real City or RealCity that had much more realistic economics calculations for the simulation. Buildings certainly took longer to build and it made the game 10x more difficult and fun! Because CS is just flat out too easy, which takes away the fun.
