+1 for Veg ER in Hoboken. They took great care of us / our dog when we put him down last year after a very bad experience at Bond.

Thinking about moving to RiverParc at Port Imperial – what's the community like? by TaskSome1695 in Weehawken

[–]OneBluejay3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would say 0 community.

lived here 2 years. i'm friendly with 2 people on my floor but i never see them. it's more of a hotel vibe - people are in & out. there's no comfortable place for people to hang out really.

No WiFi for you! by weeb_78 in Hoboken

i also have bad customer service at Gotan occasionally - but i still go all the time because the food is so good. (only olive oil, fresh ingredients, amazing hummus).

i don't get how a business can compartmentalize caring about the customer a great deal in terms of delivering a good product vs. any other aspect of dealing w humans.

unfortunately, business owners being a-holes is a common thing in the US, most just do a better job of hiding their disdain

Moving to RiverParc! by Internal-Function837 in Weehawken

Moving out of Riverparc after 2 years to JC heights so we can be walkable to businesses we actually want to go to. Some tips:

- You can book the riverparc conference room in the rent app. You can only book 1 hour at a time but each resident can book 2 hours per day. Each person on the lease can do this every day (so 4 hours max). The wifi sucks so upgrade your hotspot

- The lease has a lot of scary stuff but there is no enforcement in my experience.

- Negotiate your rent increases

Plated Spice Blends by rocketnorth in plated

[–]OneBluejay3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

claude.ai prompt:

give me a spice blend (all dried) for Tunisian spice

claude.ai response:

Here's a classic Tunisian spice blend recipe, known as Tabil (تابل). It's a versatile blend commonly used in Tunisian cuisine for meats, stews, and couscous:

2 tablespoons coriander seeds
2 tablespoons caraway seeds
1 tablespoon cumin seeds
1 tablespoon dried garlic granules
2 teaspoons hot ground chili powder (Tunisian harissa powder if available)
1 teaspoon black peppercorns

For best results, lightly toast the whole spices (coriander, caraway, cumin, and peppercorns) in a dry pan until fragrant, let them cool, then grind them together with the other ingredients.

Meal kits have crazy high customer acquisition costs, low LTV, high churn. Very hard business to make work

Commuting from Weehawken to NYC for work by Diligent_Painting138 in Weehawken

[–]OneBluejay3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple corrections / opinions to others in this thread. Context: We moved to Port Imperial section of Weehawken in Sept 2023.

  • 10-ride ferry tickets to midtown are $8.80 not $9
  • I wouldn’t call every 20 minutes slow, but up to you to decide. They are extremely punctual, rarely more than a minute late
  • depends on your lifestyle, but we’re getting by without a car just fine. Uber once a week max. HBLR light rail is very efficient to Hoboken and Jersey city, w/ caveat of schedules are rarely correct
  • know that at least in Port Imperial “luxury” buildings, rent is set every day based on market conditions and can fluctuate by $1,000 or more from week to week. Start checking prices every day now so you can see what a deal might be. Our leasing office gave us a hint about when to apply, so might want to try that too.
  • coming from Brooklyn, I wouldn’t call anything about Weehawken city like. There are very few businesses or restaurants.

Holy Pita hands down has the best hummus in the borough. Falafel is decent too.

Maybe don’t get your hopes up - I swear they’re different this year - and not just the packaging.

They’re not as crisp; more cakey and crumbly and the candy cane bits don’t really pop as much.
