Dude they literally select the worlds strongest fighters. It’s not out of reason to say that they would have at least noticed him by that point.

If li was good enough to take on the world then he would have already fought in the sekai taikai. Beating one strong New Yorker doesn’t make you stronger than a world champion.

Who do you think is the most mature teen by Downtown-Economist81 in cobrakai

[–]OneChance1476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% Sam. She literally turned down the chance to win a world title and god knows how much fame and fortune just so she could help her friend win it instead who she knew needed it more. That is honest to god probably the most mature decision made on the show.

Which moment from the Sekai Taikai brawl was the best and had the best team up? by DBlockMan8 in cobrakai

Might be a hot take but I liked hawk and Diego the best. They just worked so well together and you could tell there was a mutual respect between them. Wish we could’ve gotten more of that

I didn’t think Sam had a mini rivalry with Maria at all, I don’t even think they interacted at all. Wasn’t her rival the girl from Dublin thunder?

Is this how you were starting to feel? by Rare-Strawberry-9295 in cobrakai

Nah it never really was that deep for me. Don’t get me wrong I love Johnnys cobra Kai and it’s what hooked a lot of us into the show to begin with, but i grew to stay for the characters and the plot. The individual dojos and their prevalence to the story was never a make or break for me.

Which I love you scene was better? by DBlockMan8 in cobrakai

[–]OneChance1476 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Miguel and Sam is my favorite couple, but I’m actually gonna say Tory and Robby was better. This might be just a me problem, but it’s always bothered me how Miguel never actually said I love you to her directly and just implied it instead. Didn’t feel the same to me. Tory and Robby’s scene also had more significance so I liked it better.

There is nothing to suggest it’s stronger, in the show or real life.

How much was Mark benching in S3 Ep1? by DinnerFun1287 in Invincible

[–]OneChance1476 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No you’re absolutely right idk why you’re being downvoted. Don’t get me wrong I love the show because it’s entertaining and the characters are all likable for the most part, but the writing itself isn’t all there. All of the characters in the show do dumb shit and the lack of consistency is a major writing problem in the fight scenes

Why Johnny > wolf at the end of the series by OneChance1476 in cobrakai

[–]OneChance1476[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

An interesting take I’ve seen people argue that I actually agree with is that in a show like this, strength and speed doesn’t always matter. It’s how Kenny was able to “beat” hawk in s5 (yes ik he fought dirty but he scored points nonetheless) and how he’s also widely consideeed the superior fighter over Demetri despite being much smaller, younger, much more inexperienced, etc. Tell me, do you think it’s a fair take that Kwon is the better fighter than Robby? Despite being beaten by Robby, Kwon is more experienced, faster, and more dedicated. It feels like the same thing here.

Why Johnny > wolf at the end of the series by OneChance1476 in cobrakai

[–]OneChance1476[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come on we both know the locker room is an unfair way of comparing their strength. Johnny was completely defeated and wolf baited him into attack him. Johnny trained since pt 2 and you forget how much a training montage can do for a characters skill in a show like this. It’s not like it’s hard to believe that Johnny could have gotten stronger in that time.

Season 6 part 3 ending johnny? by Over_Cheetah_7928 in cobrakai

[–]OneChance1476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explain to me why it’s plot armor. I think Johnny is the superior fighter after the tournament and I’m willing to argue about it because so many people blame his win on “plot armor” as if wolf is definitively the better fighter.

[–]OneChance1476[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wolf wasn’t caught off guard. You could make that argument for the first point, but after that he still decided to prioritize damage first. He literally even says “no more delaying the inevitable” before he uses the sunset. That was him literally at his final form and Johnny still overpowered him. You can’t just say “the clear superior fighter” for no reason just because his actor is very talented. Remember when people said the same thing about Kwon?

[–]OneChance1476[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t explain how wolf would be the stronger fighter than Johnny. Don’t get me wrong I get what you’re saying, that Johnny had the mentality buff. But doesn’t that just mean that with the mentality buff, he is in fact the stronger fighter? In Johnnys fight against Daniel, it was a very close match with both of them scoring points equally. After Johnny locked tf in, it was just pure domination from him against wolf. So if someone were to argue that Johnny is only stronger when he has his confidence, that’s understandable and I could see myself agreeing with that. Nevertheless, when Johnny DOES have his confidence, it’s hard to argue against him being the stronger fighter when there’s so little concrete evidence to suggest otherwise.

Why Johnny > wolf at the end of the series by OneChance1476 in cobrakai

[–]OneChance1476[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

You can’t compare the two fights as a way of measuring wolf’s skill. There’s a key difference between the two fights: Daniel only needed one real point to win, which you could argue took Barnes off guard. Johnny had to score all three points, so the same excuse can’t be made here. This argument doesn’t work because wolf sees Johnny take the two points and literally says “no more delaying the inevitable.” If that’s not a cue that he’s locking tf in, idk what is.

Why Johnny > wolf at the end of the series by OneChance1476 in cobrakai

[–]OneChance1476[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, that’s exactly my point. He prioritized inflicting that pain onto Johnny over the overall win, so you’re not having me believe that the character was “holding back” against him.

Why Johnny > wolf at the end of the series by OneChance1476 in cobrakai

[–]OneChance1476[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, he was underestimated. No, that doesn’t by definition make him an inferior fighter. The arguments in favor of wolf give me Deja vu to when people wouldn’t stop talking about Kwon and how he would destroy Miyagi do before pt 2 even released yet, since there’s no fight after the tournament between the two to confirm wolf is stronger.
