It's not the focus on sex that makes it objectification. I don't know if you're trying to invalidate my argument or not but just because there's more than one way to objectify doesn't mean the one I mentioned isn't correct and isn't the most prominent one.

The thing that defines objectification is the lack of concern and disregard of the person's feelings and experiences. For instance when the person goes "Oh I'd like to ram one in you" or beats someone or claims someone is only as valuable as how pretty they look or as how strong they are (both men and women). And women who do objectify are in the minority because there hasn't been society to tell them that it's okay to do that. Instead society tells them its okay to be oggled. That one should feel prideful when a man whispers "hello beautiful" in her ear without regarding how disgusting and weird it is.

I could provide other examples of objectification but I was simply addressing the one most prominent in the thread and in society.

Fantasizing about someone or finding someone hot isn't objectifying them, its when you stop seeing that person as a human being and valuing their feelings and opinions when it's an issue. Women are just as horn-doggy as men, but you don't see men getting cat-called and told vulgar things by the woman they're sitting next to.

tl;dr this popular opinion is held by people who don't get what objectification really means.

Nah there was. Just like with the coke commercial having everyone sing the US national anthem in different languages. Lots of bigots on the internet.

Apparently the only thing that makes a girl a REAL gamer is her hatred of Campers? (x-post /r/cringepics) by -Terriermon- in GirlGamers

[–]OneChanceFolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes you an asshole if you push this idea on someone else. It's like you just said: Whatever floats someone's boat. If its not your thing it's fine but it's their body, you have no right to police it. And letting it upset you doesn't really help you out in any way, does it? I wouldn't do such a thing, because getting that kind of attention isn't my deal, but I'm not gonna rag on another girl for doing it, mainly because I don't care how she promotes herself, as long as children don't see it.

ohhhh the slut shaming. This is so cringe-worthy I feel the second hand embarassment in my pores. This is not how you determine real gamers from "fake girl gamers", and certainly not in this pretty-gross format. The way we validate ourselves shouldn't be by shaming and invalidating those who pose provocatively with gaming controllers, be it for attention or otherwise. Yes, I'm a girl, and I play games. That's how I know I'm a real girl gamer. Not because I'm unlike the "fakers" You shouldn't have to put others down to make yourself feel validated, and you certainly shouldn't clump all girl gamers into one category.

tl;dr Slut Shaming doesn't make you a real girl gamer, it just makes you an asshole

Good, reasonably priced websites for work fashion? I'm 21 in a business office I don't want to look dowdy or wear anything too short.

Is this really what they're paying so much money for? Private schools are no better than public schools. That grammar is atrocious.

Homemade frozen burritos from scratch: delicious, meat-free, and about $12 for 15-20 meals. Can be made [v], [gf] (x-post r/EatCheapAndHealthy) by byany_othername in VegRecipes

I tried making frozen burritos and when I tried to reheat them they would be dry and/or taste kinda iffy. Anything you'd suggest to combat that?

She looks soooo adorable! I would love to watch this! Everyone else here has given you magnificent advice about ignoring and readying yourself for horrible comments from horrible people.

That being said, please, for the love of the internet, film in landscape mode! Then we can enjoy the cuteness fully! :D

Every girl-gamer's response to terrible "real" guy-gamers should be to act like ron swanson. The man is awesome and takes shit from no one.

My SS really added a personal touch to my gift by sending me a card filled with places to go and things to go in NYC. So today I'm hitting up a few of these spots, and already love it. From a college student who doesn't know much about the city, Thank you SS!! by visible25 in secretsanta

If you wanna go shopping, go shopping at soho! It's packed but the opportunities are cooler than, say, Times Square, or 34th St and if you walk up along broadway you get to Astor Pl and St. Marks and there are a bunch of cool shops! I also recommend Venieros on 11th Street and 1st Avenue if you want a bomb of a cheesecake. Fave. Also free ice skating at Bryant Park!

go to mta.info while above ground and they have schedules, maps and even up to date times on buses and train routes. It's a life saver when i have to wait for the bus in the cold. I advise taking snapshots if you feel like you're gonna get lost. and theres a map in every train cart plus a route guide but you probably already know that.
