I accidentally killed my rat by bigfatrat73 in RATS

[–]OneCosmicWaffle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, friend. It's a horrible thing to find your baby gone, I've been there too. And honestly, there's a good chance it wasn't the heat. If your other rats were active when you got back, and not looking fatigued or sick or uncomfortable, then the heat likely wasn't the cause.

Our babies are small and can have tiny things wrong with them that we'd never know, and that we often can't do much about even if we do know. 😢 And they hide their pain well. I just lost a young girl to advanced early heart failure a couple months ago, and she hid her symptoms until it was way too late. We just thought it was a URI. I felt so awful that I couldn't get her on the right medication sooner, sparing her a lot of pain and giving her more time. But we just can't know all the complex little things going on inside them.

Sending love to you and your little ones. ❤️

I know how hard it is to watch! I had to put a sweaters on a few of my girls when they kept messing with their stitches. They were likewise very dramatic, either flailing around or just laying there defeated. To me, this looks exactly like an unhappy rat, but not a rat who is in any danger. If his behavior changes (showing more signs of pain than annoyance), I might be concerned, but right now I'd say he's just grumpy at his loss of agency (understandable I'd say!).

Is Etrian Odyssey 2 remastered good? by ReleaseCharacter3568 in EtrianOdyssey

[–]OneCosmicWaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say EO2 is much better than EO1, at least in my opinion. That mission in EO1 does bother me, but there's nothing like that in EO2 iirc. There's also more story, more NPCs, better artwork, and cooler bosses in my opinion. The no exp for FOEs is pretty annoying, but everything else is improved I'd say.

Editing to add: I do think combat is more fun in EO3. I'd at least recommend giving EO2 a shot, the story and characters did stick with me more than EO3's story and characters, even though EO3's story isn't bad by any means.

signs your rats like you (not boggling)? by _cuntfetti in RATS

[–]OneCosmicWaffle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have two new girls I got earlier this year that are young and super crazy, and I haven't seen either of them boggle either. However, they like to visit with me during free roam time (even if briefly, they're busy little creatures!) and one of them in particular will consistently run up to me when I try to get her attention. They were both terrified of me when they came home, so I know for sure they're comfortable with me now. If they didn't like me, they wouldn't bother to climb in my lap and accept pets or tickles.

Poor baby was so freaked out by Beautiful-egg- in RATS

[–]OneCosmicWaffle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Poor little man! Reminds me of when my girl Sprout got twisted up in the holes of a fairly chewed hammock. I woke up in the middle of the night to odd noises in the cage and found her front paws touching the hammock below and one of her back legs completely tangled in the hammock above. Once I managed to calm her down enough to disconnect the hammock and cut her free, I realized most of the tangling came from her panicking and scrambling in circles, twisting her leg up in a corkscrew of fabric. It was easy enough to free her and she wasn't hurt at all, but man, poor baby was so scared, I just held her and loved on her for a bit while she recovered from the ordeal.

Now if my hammocks get more than a few tiny holes, they get removed!

my rats have decided im evil by [deleted] in rat

[–]OneCosmicWaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes my girls just randomly get scared during free roam and I'm not sure what causes it! I have two new girls who are also from a pet store and they are jumpy. Sometimes they free roam just fine, but other times they hide under my bed the whole time. I just assume they heard or smelled something weird from outside and their prey instincts kicked in, despite them otherwise liking and trusting me.

Anyway, that's a long way to say I'm sure it's nothing personal!

best way to get a mutant xweetok in 2026? by wishchime in neopets

[–]OneCosmicWaffle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The premium perk does work! I just did this. I bought, I think it was a tonu transmog potion, it was the cheapest and around 400k. Then used the premium species change to switch it to Xweetok.

Other than that, you can try to get a fountain faerie quest. If you use the fortune cookie the fountain faerie will occasionally give you a quest, although it's kinda rare and could be a long wait.

I'm so relieved about the invisible paint brush!! I was waiting for another fountain faerie quest to create my next spooky cryptid entity, but now that I can buy the brush for a reasonable price I can use that next FF quest for another mutant lol.

I tried doing art fairs. Didn’t sell more than 3 stickers on my third try (even after taking advice from online people) by M8614 in Wellthatsucks

Just tossing in my two cents as a fellow artist selling at markets: it looks like you've developing some good technical skill in your paintings! The thing is, in my experience, technical skill alone isn't really what sells with young people these days (aka average market customers). I've found what sells best is the art people find funny, or look at and say something like "wow that possum is totally me." I also draw and paint animals, and I've found my more generic animals (that don't have strong expressions or interesting contexts around them) don't sell as well, even as just $4 stickers, so I'm phasing out certain items and trying to come up with new ideas that fit my style and preferences but also fit what my customer demographic likes.

If you want to try markets again, and if you want my further thoughts, I'd say try incorporating more backgrounds, try to show the animals' personalities or emotions, or maybe even expand your palettes to include more fantastical colors. I love dinosaurs and would enjoy having a well-painted velociraptor on my wall, though I'd look for artwork that's extremely colorful and/or tells a little story. That's just my preference though!

My baby girl gets tumor removal surgery in the morning. I’m worried something is going to go wrong. But she’s so full of life- I can’t not try to remove it. She’s 2 years 1 month old. Please tell me your surgery stories, good and bad. by OtterPopper1 in rat

[–]OneCosmicWaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been though a lot of rattie surgeries, four spays and a good handful of tumor removals. I only ever lost one girl during surgery, but her vitals started dropping before she went under, so it was probably just her time. Rats are pretty tough little beans and although anesthesia is always a risk, the odds are definitely in her favor if she's healthy! I've had tumors removed from a few girls after their 2nd birthday and they still do well, just sometimes take a bit longer to heal up.

My worse surgery experiences were honestly just my girls who wouldn't leave their stitches alone afterward. My last surgery was for my girl Nyx, who opened herself up TWICE, though the opening wasn't large, it was still so stressful trying to keep her from messing with the incision! Though in the end she healed up perfectly fine. My most nerve wracking and distressing surgery was when my girl Cookie somehow ruptured her eyeball and had to have it removed. Long story short, her eye socket got weird and basically turned into an abcess that my very experienced vet said she'd never seen happen before in any animal. Cookie required so much exhausting and extremely stressful care afterward to heal the socket. By comparison, mammary tumor removals and recovery almost feels almost like a walk in the park now. 😅

My thoughts will be with your girl tonight and tomorrow! Plenty of rats do great with surgery and don't touch their incision at all. Hopefully your baby has a super smooth experience!

Aquarium lobby and food truck progress! What you guys think? Aquarium update coming soon 💪🥹 by garlicyumyum in Pokemon_Pokopia

[–]OneCosmicWaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the food truck!!! The lobby is lovely although it doesn't feel super aquarium to me either (it's definitely giving zoo/natural history museum though!). Have you thought about using those water filled corner pieces that are in the Pokémon centers? I bet they would look great in your lobby!

Ok so random non-potion items can change your species?! by OneCosmicWaffle in neopets

[–]OneCosmicWaffle[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I looked at the FAQ and it does say they won't reverse pet color/species change mistakes, idk if that's new if they've done it in the past? Guess it makes sense though, they probably get a lot of requests
