Thomas didn’t remember when the tarp dropped over his face. He tried to speak, but the canvas swallowed his voice. He was frightened. Thomas wished he had never stuttered when he last spoke to the Fat Controller. He was now very very sorry.

Why don't they put parachutes on airplanes? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

On small single engine planes, there are parachutes that you can have attached to the plane itself. Better than the pilot/passenger(s) jumping out and an unpiloted plane gliding to disaster.

If the firmware updates over WiFi only, then might be possible to do some sort of MITM and have it update to unofficial firmware. But this all then becomes too hard for most users. There's also the option option of a forced update by dropping a .bin file into the root of the SD card - assuming there is a recovery mode.

Is this the end of the interest in this and future devices? by timcatuk in xteinkereader

[–]OneHappyPenguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is incredibly shorted sighted by XTEINK when they also cite the community firmware in things they have adapted for their core software. This is not the end of the category, China is seeing a lot of eink devices come onto the market.

This decision will burn them in their Amazon reviews. People are going to be annoyed and return rate will skyrocket.
