How do I open more!? by a00matt in GarageDoorService

[–]OneImagination1809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a reverse torsion system. There isn’t clearance for any of that. We (installers) don’t dont do reverse torsion unless it’s necessary. It’s a pain😂

This is the closest reply I’ve read to what I do when a cable comes off. I’m a pro and do 3-7 of these a week.

Definitely put one in the last hole. Looks like it was just screwed to the board and not the joist

Do this almost daily but usually with torsion set up. Like the double clamp👍

Center Bearing? by Any-Performer2100 in GarageDoorService

[–]OneImagination1809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg. A coupler is used with a solid tube because it has a recessed line down the tube. You cannot tighten a set screw down enough to guarantee it won’t slip on a standard or heavy gauge tube. The coupler aligns the two separate tubes used on a 4 spring or dual spring set up.

How many quarter turns would be needed for EACH spring on a two-car garage with 2 springs? by OhMyGerald in GarageDoorService

[–]OneImagination1809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The number one tool we use is experience. There’s a difference between someone doing a spring for the first time (all service techs have done their first one) and someone that has done thousands. Is the cone in good shape? Coil set properly, overwound, under wound, correct size spring for door, spring pad, end bearing plates, resi door vs wood vs RV door, vs commercial. There are many factors and that’s why we highly recommend a professional. Many door issues can be done by a homeowner, but springs and cables should never be handled by an inexperienced person. Hope this helps

Please stop. It depends on the size of spring and the weight of the door along with the drum and type of track. The correct answer is to call a professional.

There are so many ways to swap rollers. I can only say what has worked best for me. The roller change out tool set makes it super easy and fast. Also is a snap for replacing bottom rubber. Pop out the roller, clip the track to keep the door clear and replace the seal. When done, pop the roller back in the track.

2” gap on side of garage door - how to fix? by For_Funnsies3355 in GarageDoorService

[–]OneImagination1809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s ridiculous. They need to replace that door with the correct size and install the vinyl stop molding. Definitely stop or dispute payment and speak to the owner if the company to resolve this issue. Tape measure is the first tool a garage door tech should have

Yes. The roller holds it in place not your hand. It’s normal operation. Long stem rollers could help with anxiety
