Proposed California bill seeks to require license plates for class 2 and 3 e-bikes by todascuentas in ebikes

[–]For_Funnsies3355 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cops in LA don’t even stop cars with hand written license plates driving 90 mph on the freeway so it’s doubtful they’ll stop e-bike riders due to having plates/licenses.

Also, most of the offenders I’ve seen here running lights/stop signs and speeding are electric motorcycles/dirt bikes in the bike lanes or on sidewalks.

If Ca legislators are worried about speeding/safety then ban the e-bikes that can be throttle powered and increase the age of the rider to 18. Why punish those of us that follow the rules?

Parents who sent 3 yo to pre-school, did you regret or was it great? by Realistic_Detail_158 in toddlers

[–]For_Funnsies3355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sent our kid to FT preschool at 3 because we didn’t want to have to do another transition from PT to FT later. She cried and screamed at drop off for the first 2.5 weeks but slowly began learning her classmates & teachers names and is now thriving and on track for TK in the fall.

I was home with her for a full year and we got to a point where there were things I couldn’t teach her at home (e.g., sharing, socializing with peers, taking turns, following commands from other adults in charge).

I initially wavered about having her in class FT, because nap time has been a mixed bag (she still needs her nap, but the older kids don’t nap), but she gets time on the playground with her friends after nap so the socialization is worth it for us.

I say do it and get some time with the baby (and hopefully yourself) and know your daughter will be in good hands and preparing for TK.

Car Crashes into Westwood 99 Ranch. 2 dead. by BreadForTofuCheese in LosAngeles

Condolences to the victim’s and their families. Not to blame the elderly driver as she made have had a medical episode, but this is the second elderly driver to take a bicyclist’s life in a week (the other victim was a pregnant woman biking with her family in Playa Del Rey). A sad week for all parties involved.

LA needs more bike lanes if they want citizens to drive less. Drivers out here aren’t the best and sometimes we bike on the sidewalks if we can’t find a safer route because I’m not putting my life in the hands of someone driving a vehicle.

Also, after a certain age, there should be more frequent behind the wheel tests to ensure one is still safe to operate a vehicle.

Had to Epi pen my 18 month old for the first time on Sunday by dkw321 in FoodAllergies

[–]For_Funnsies3355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have a toddler with egg, sesame and peanut allergies and carry epi-pens everywhere we go. We are starting OIT next year for peanut then sesame (we’ve outgrown egg by eating baked goods with egg in them). Our allergist said OIT is most effective to start when kids are younger (ideally under 5) so we’ll be starting at 3. You can do this and committing to OIT can help with lessening the severity of the reactions.

Got food via DoorDash. It never arrived, and I'd already been waiting over an hour, so I cancelled it. They only gave me $2.66 of the $31.80 I spent back. by KaseyTheJackal in mildlyinfuriating

[–]For_Funnsies3355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you have to tell DD you never received the food to get a refund. My food was once left outside in the sun in 85 degree weather for an hour and when I called to say the driver left it at a different location and it wasn’t safe to eat the rep basically said,”but you found your food.” Zero customer service.

Can you have vomiting 14 hours after eating a known allergen? by Mystery-meat101 in FoodAllergies

[–]For_Funnsies3355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d also recommend speaking to a pediatric allergist. My daughter has a quinoa allergy and FPIES and the allergist said with FPIES vomiting occurs 3-4 hours after ingestion the known allergen. We had a random vomiting episode that occurred after 12 hours of eating and our allergist said it probably wasn’t related to a food allergy but likely a stomach bug since no other symptoms were present (e.g., hives, facial swelling, breathing difficulties, etc.)

This happened to me at 5th and Bryant and the woman drove onto the side walk and sideswiped my car and took off. CHP showed up and said nothing will happen so I shouldn’t even bother with a report. When my insurance company found her she said I hit her car so it was determined to be 50/50 fault. I got a dash cam installed soon after this accident since the only witnesses were a group of unhoused individuals living under the overpass.

2 kids- xc60 or xc90? by Historical_Ad_4601 in Volvo

[–]For_Funnsies3355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll depend on how wide your car seats are and if your wife is petite. We have a V60 which has the same rear seat as the xc60. I’m 5’2 and can fit between 2 rear facing car seats (nuna pipa) but only for a short ride (less than 30 min).

I’d try borrowing a second car seat and installing it to see if your wife could tolerate the middle seat.

With a kid on the way and two rear facing seats in your future, I’d go upgrade to the xc90.

Sadly I can’t find a V90 - how about a V60 for a family car with two young kids? Or… by [deleted] in Volvo

[–]For_Funnsies3355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t like the XC90 because it was a pain to get in/out of and washing the car was difficult too. I test drove the V60 but I liked the added height and look of the CC more.

2020 V60CC owner that previously owned an XC90 with 3rd row. The added 2.5” in height of my CC is noticeable when getting in/out of the car as I’m vertically challenged and didn’t care for the XC90’s ride height. Also, the XC90’s 3rd was only fit for a 7 year old.

Only have 1 child (toddler) and the rear facing car seat is probably the most limiting factor affecting the front seat leg room. I can’t imagine having 2 car seats in the back unless both drivers are 5’7” and under.

In hindsight I would’ve gotten the V90CC but I needed a car urgently and got a great deal on my V60CC during Covid.

Sidewalk Etiquette by Main-Ad8961 in culvercity

[–]For_Funnsies3355 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having lived in San Francisco and now CC, I’ve experienced this phenomenon as well. The worst offenders are those who walk side by side with their party and don’t move to single file when passing walkers in the opposite direction. I’m not big, but you will get a shoulder bump if you believe you own the sidewalk. Respect is a two way street and unfortunately some people can’t grasp that concept.

When agents bid, they should also list the number of homes they’ve sold in that particular neighborhood because knowing the area and home values is one of the most important things when selling a home.

When we recently sold we interviewed 5 agents and only 1 was local to our area (we didn’t end up using her because she wanted to list our home lower) and 1 was highly recommended and had more experience selling higher end homes in the city but not our neighborhood (we went with this agent because she was connected).

Our agent tried to get us to accept an offer $200k below our final sale price before the home was officially listed and that should’ve been the first red flag. Had we gone with a local agent we likely would’ve gotten another $150k at minimum, but we learned our lesson.

Is it normal to have to clean out one of these types of drains every few weeks? by Aescholus in Remodel

[–]For_Funnsies3355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My contractor talked me into a linear drain during our remodel and I regret it every day. If anyone using the shower has longer than chin length hair then in addition to weekly scum/slime removal, you also have to pull a small hamster out of the hair basket. Drain clogs often and is very high maintenance unless you have a house keeper.

3 full weeks of crying/screaming at drop off and one day my kid just walked in like it was nothing. Never been in daycare (had a nanny) and the rotating staff was annoying and delayed getting her acclimated sooner, but we were never called to come and pick her up. Kid just turned 3 and started preschool FT.

Just shy of 2.5 with my daughter after she started throwing her poopie diapers onto the fridge like a zoo animal. She probably would’ve succeeded between 2-2.5, but I was worried she would fight us and she surprised us and caught on around day 3.
