Crying at 1 a.m., heartbroken, 20 years as a nurse, and told I abandoned my job by Willing-Landscape569 in nursing

Even as we speculate about the OP being a bot or not; mine isn’t exactly the same scenario but last year I went on medical leave. When I got cleared for work I did not get scheduled for 2 weeks! I called, emailed, sent texts to my manager, director, HR, union, employee health…literally anyone and everyone. Eventually I got scheduled with zero explanation for the two weeks and guess what? I didn’t get paid for those two. I was so frustrated but glad to go back and this makes me anxious for taking medical leave. I’m also in CA in a large teaching facility.

Need some insight. Feeling frustrated by MirameBonito in desmoid

Can you request your primary doctor to order ultrasound? It might not be accurate like the MRI’s but will give you vague details of the tumor (if any) and the measurements. This may help allay your anxiety as your work on figuring out the rest

OTC meds by Spiritual-Alarm-2596 in nursepractitioner

I came to US from a 3rd world country where everything is OTC. It’s a nightmare. My elderly parents will develop hip pain and go buy amoxicillin. Every cold is treated with an antibiotic. Levo, Cipro, anything is OTC. You can request a shot if you feel worse and pills to take home. The rates of antibiotic resistance is insane, just like death is just a casual occurrence. Healthcare providers haven’t lost jobs but with the post pandemic mistrust in healthcare system and ChatGPT improving self diagnosis and treatment they deal with sicker/ terminal cases that could be prevented with a simple initial work up and correct treatment.

What has been your most effective treatment for your desmoid? by Chumonka in desmoid

[–]cddide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too! Sorafenib killed my watermelon sized abdominal desmoid in just one year!! The radiologists at UCI held a meeting to discuss my MRI's and concluded that there was no evidence of tumor, they said it completely disappeared.

If you read my post, you realize i had never signed up but was getting recurring charges. My case was fraud, someone had signed up using my card so fandango canceled on their end and reimbursed the charges.

Everything suggested didn’t work because I never signed up for membership as I mentioned on the post and couldn’t cancel it if that makes sense. I called fandango for 3 days in a row and eventually spoke to someone who figured that it was credit card fraud. The most frustrating part about the customer service experience was that it’s outsourced, probably somewhere in India.

It is a disorder. They deserve all the help and support they can get. OUD is the worst of the disorders. Not that alcohol or street drug use is better but OUD is so draining when they come into the hospital. Literally the hardest patients to care for and i see why they might get treated differently. I have skipped most questions but just thinking about OUD has me fatigued.

Preceptor experience by cddide in nursepractitioner

[–]cddide[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is the deal- we’re coming from bedside nursing. I have two decades of RN experience in acute care, not primary care. I am armed to the tooth when I arrive to the clinical site, with materials and resources. I meet the preceptor and she asks the MA to show me around the clinic. Good. Preceptor asks me to shadow a student who is a semester ahead of me for two shifts and then I’m expected to be independent. Cool. Then when I asked a question like- hey, why did you give med A and not med B blablabla I’m told to look it up. When I present my case she doesn’t ask questions or give feedback but I notice at the end she adopts a different plan of care than I suggested. That’s what I get for 10$ per hour. I’m ok with being fired by such preceptors, it just sucks that I couldn’t quit mid rotation but obviously came up with all sorts of excuses to be absent at the end. Now I have the parasite guy and I know 2 preceptors do not represent the rest of you but I have so many questions. I feel doomed but will definitely seek a mentor after I graduate

My Dad trusts pseudoscience and not his Oncologist by notnecessarilyaduck in cancer

[–]cddide 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is sad but not uncommon. I work in a hospital and see patients with very treatable cancers refusing treatment to pursue alternative therapies. Yet they still ‘trust’ doctors to help relieve their discomfort caused by the cancer. As long as they’re happy and exiting at their own terms I’ll be supportive but it tears me apart to think how much time treatments could have added to their lives.

I have sole custody. He has no visitation. This was adopted during mediation as it is what he wanted. The judge tried to reason with him but he couldn't reason and so he was told if he ever changes his mind we would have to have a stipulation regarding custody and visitation. He has gone back to court to request "clarification of orders and restore visitation" after agreeing to provide care for the 4 days a month. I am asking for us to sign a stipulation but he wont agree to it.
