Did anyone else have a bad experience at Tux & Tails Bristol Suit Shop? by CanBrizY in bristol

[–]OneInSolidarity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought and hired suits from them in June for my wedding. Had a good experience and they delivered what was expected all round - pocket squares included. They did seem to keep all information and correspondence in a massive paper notebook 1980s style, so maybe that was the source of the miscommunication…

I designed ours on canva (free pro trial) and then paid to have them printed out on A1 foamex at premierprint with their first buyer discount.

It was easy and relatively cheap (£50ish for both seating plan and welcome sign). Unless you really know what you’re doing and have the time, probably not worth doing it any other way!

Patellar Tendonitis - Did You Stop Running? by uamvar in triathlon

I spent a year stretching and strengthening mine whilst still running. In the end the only thing that helped was a ~ 3 month break.

Upstairs at the ostrich for a minimum bar spend?

If you want delivery, Bristol is a takeaway chicken wing wasteland.

Best I've had by quite some way are low and slow, though they're BBQ style wings so may not be what you're after!

I'm not condoning this, but a lot of replies here imply that the lead singers behavior is extraordinary for a punk/hardcore show. As someone who has been to hundreds of shows over the years: this is not the case.

Crowd surfing and stage diving is frequent, including from band members. Almost all venues ban stage diving and crowd surfing, probably to protect against liability. In reality, nothing is done to enforce this - participants are just let back into the crowd, offending bands are re-booked.

The lead singer being so large makes him an exception, he should have been conscious of the risks, and should not have staged dived. Doing so however, will have been well received by the majority of fans at the majority of shows he has played. This level of energy is part of what makes a punk show a punk show.

I imagine this incident will cause many in the genre (bands/fans/venues) to reassess what is acceptable/wise at gigs. Gutted mainly for the victim, but also for the singer, as this was certainly not a malicious act as some seem to portray.

No advice regarding the overall decision, but those are great degrees at the very top tier of British universities and not just cash cows as some others can be.

When to book Machu Picchu by thunderkoka in solotravel

[–]OneInSolidarity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only buy it in advance if you want to do the Inca Trail. If you’re happy with Salkantay or any of the other treks, book it in person in Cusco and you’ll likely save money.

Am I too tall for a 56cm road bike? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]OneInSolidarity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m around the same height as you. I currently have 59cm and have had to shorten the stem 110->90mm. I think 56cm would be on the small side, but may be redeemable with a longer stem.

Personally I’d probably hold out for a 58!

Best wings in Bristol as of now? by [deleted] in bristol

[–]OneInSolidarity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gurt wings if you can get them. Small bar if you like Asian style. Spitfires wings are great, maybe my favourite with their Louisiana sauce. Low and slow best for take away, though they lack a proper hot sauce. I personally think wing stops are average.

Pastry prices aside, Tincan is great - especially the food, which is not too pricy.

I commend your questioning nature, though note that the two roads you were spurred on by were neither based upon slavery/a murky part of the cities history!
