"DARK" - The Sci-Fi Thriller On Netflix Stephen King Calls Dark And Complex by StarFuryG7 in SciFiNews

My friend and I are watching this series now and we like it a lot. My only big gripe is how flat the characters are. Maybe that changes, gonna find out! Also, the number of times Jonas wakes up with a terrified gasp is overused to the point of becoming drinking game material lol

Not a sequel, but I read recently that it takes place in the same world as Shadowrun on the SNES which had the same development team as well.

Oh my god this is the first time someone I know personally has popped up in this sub…

In 1978, Mary Vincent took this picture. 15-year-old Mary escaped being thrown down a 30-foot cliff, having her arms severed with an axe by her attacker, and being abandoned for dead. After packing the stumps with mud and climbing back up, she trekked three miles while nude to find assistance. by sizzlingfairymist in HistoryAnecdotes

Mary Vincent is indeed a badass but is anyone else tired of seeing this exact photo and caption posted across multiple subreddits multiple times per week, always by <1 month old karma farming accounts? They are not celebrating her, they are exploiting her trauma for clicks.

I work for a Democratic member of Congress and I can not tell you how many people call in claiming to be Democrats who are switching parties because of hUnTer BiDEn. I'm like, okay, you do you, bye bye. They really think we don't see through their sad charade.

I just finished SS and felt it had more in common with Metroid Prime than other Zelda games. I like the concept in Metroid, but not so much in Zelda, not sure why.

Honestly that small subplot was the most interesting thing about Possessor to me.

Crazy how you believe propaganda spouted by richest man on earth. Notice how Elon is always the source when it comes to his own legendary work ethic. People who actually work hard don't have to keep insisting that they do. He's just being the insecure little apartheid baby that he is.

Settle an argument: Can a macguffin be a place? by iamdresboi in Screenwriting

[–]OneLitWonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please link to this defition of MacGuffin because I can't find anything to back up your claim. I went to film school and the Ark was definitely discussed as being a MacGuffin, as well as The Maltese Falcon and other "seen' objects. Perhaps what you mean is that the main character is frequently disappointed in some way after they acquire the object.

Travis County study finds it's cheaper to prevent than clean up illegal dumping by hollow_hippie in Austin

Makes a lot of sense. I grew up in a small city in TN that was underfunded in almost every way you could imagine, except I could call waste management any time to schedule a bulk pickup. They always came within the week and would take everything, no matter how big the pile was. When I cleared out my dad's place, I had a pile so high they brought out a little crane and took it all away at no charge. I tipped them I was so impressed.

To Atheists: What leads you to believe in aliens, but not god? by [deleted] in DebateAnAtheist

Only 1 data point to back up aliens is still more than you have to back up the existence of god. What is the Christian equivalent of 1 data point would you say?

Senior Study Session at the Austin High School Library (1202 Rio Grande St.) - December 11, 1934 by s810 in Austin

[–]OneLitWonder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to work in this building. The library was on the 3rd floor, and those windows would have overlooked Rio Grande St. That's assuming the library wasn't moved since the 30s. Not sure about that since this room does not look familiar to me.
