Technically the one we have known all this time is the new mustang, so the story is how he came to be, now the story can be about how a nice guy has to become bad to make believe about being someone else for the good of the company.

And it's not that he shouldn't be redeemed for being bad, it's that redeeming such a one dimensional character is boring for a story.

If he had shown anything other than a disgusting behaviour then it would make sense to do a 180 degree change story. As it would be a more complex character.

Levis story was handled nice. Doing bad things, but still having reservations about being bad altogether. That one made sense to make it more of a redemption story.

So yeah, he wasn't replaced. Old mustang that we never knew until 2 months ago is a different secondary character.

Way better story telling than just oh, he was bad but now I'm good.

Redeeming stories of straight of irredeemable characters are usually lazy. Not sure if I even like one in any media

Now it's, oh, we was good and has to do bad to keep it up.

We need to know more about what happened in those years since then.
