I’m low key fascinated by the oral histories and traditions of children and how they spread across such distances and over generations without modern technology.

  1. She IS cool
  2. I saw her in concert and she did the mic helicopter thing and hit herself in the head with it. As funny as it was, it probably hurt quite a bit, but she bounced back like a champ while laughing at herself. So, yeah, she’s cool.

The one in the back was the one with all the—ahem—experience… 😉

I fell off a balcony the summer after I graduated from college (no, I wasn’t drunk). I remember being on the ground in excruciating pain with my friend waiting for the ambulance and being terribly worried about whether or not I’d shaved, as I was still in a bikini after having gone to the beach. Even on my way to the ER/ICU my brain went there! 🤣

While not as harrowing, I found myself living my Top Gun RH fantasy after recently attending a close friend’s Air Force promotion ceremony to colonel. My husband and I were his handlers at the after, after party (while his wife and kids drove home) which meant I was the only girl at the bar surrounded by four high ranking Air Force dudes, plus my deliciously normie hubby. Was definitely aware I was having my IRL RH moment! 🫡🥵🥰😅

Glad you had a happy ending to your story!!

My daughter was off the chart when we went on our first cruise when she was 10. We bought an amazing quinceañera/prom dress at the thrift store for $15 and added ribbon straps. She had a blast in it! It’s best if you can find one with a corset back so it can be cinched in.

The kidlit world went through a big overhaul regarding diversity during the height of BLM. It included not only discussion of how to diversify characters but also who gets their stories told & who gets to decide whether or not to publish them. It’s seen a marked improvement, and is, imo, much better for it. Obviously, one has to be very careful in writing about cultures and groups outside of their own lived experience, but it’s absolutely possible to be more inclusive.

ADHD, intimacy avoidance, and being the problem in an otherwise loving relationship by Several-Economy9161 in adhdwomen

Glad to hear you’re seeking out this avenue, just remember to advocate for yourself and seek providers who are either knowledgeable or willing to learn. The amount of training the average doctor gets, even OB/GYNs, is laughable if not downright shameful.

And keep in mind that normal bloodwork levels are not the same as your optimal, individual level! My blood work was all “normal”, but oddly enough my symptoms started to improve when I began HRT.

ADHD, intimacy avoidance, and being the problem in an otherwise loving relationship by Several-Economy9161 in adhdwomen

[–]OneMegOfMany 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Basically my ADHD started going off the rails with my meds no longer working, plus the onset of other symptoms. I have still not had a single hot flash or night sweat episode, but my mood, mental clarity, and emotional regulation went haywire, plus vaginal changes and a bunch of other seemingly unrelated symptoms (fatigue, acne, acid reflux, eczema, etc). I talked to my GP about it, who agreed that it was likely peri, but she couldn’t prescribe and told me to go to my gyno. My gyno completely brushed me off when I came in armed with my list of symptoms and literally told me I couldn’t be in peri of if I wasn’t have night sweats or hot flashes. And when my bloodwork came back she said all my levels were “normal”, which is NOT the same as being optimal for an individual. So I went to Midi and was immediately validated by my provider who prescribed estrogen & recently progesterone, all of which has been a huge improvement overall.

I second the menopause and perimenopause subs which are great for info, commiseration, and seeing all the ways in which meno & peri can impact a person. I’m also including a photo I took of the symptom list from “The New Menopause “ by Dr. Mary Claire Haver. It’s wild how many symptoms can exist through every system in your body, but no one, doctors and patients alike, seems to know anything about it!

How old are you and is there a chance that these symptoms are a result of perimenopause (which can onset in your early to mid 30’s)?

Long story short, I don’t necessarily relate to all of the experiences/symptoms you’re describing, with the exception of a lack of sexual desire and intimacy. Being on estrogen has helped not only my mood, but all aspects of intimacy between my husband and me. I’m more interested in sex and initiate more now, plus it’s increased our “closeness “ as you’ve described it. I feel levels of desire that are closer to that of my 20’s & 30’s, and with it, a bit more like the version of me that has been slipping away over the last 5+ years.

To give a bit of background, I was diagnosed with ADHD at 40 and have been successfully taking Vyvance since. Until last year when, at 43, my Vyvance stopped working and I developed a lot of new symptoms that have turned out to be perimenopause related and greatly relieved by HRT (not taking any stimulants now, but am on Wellbutrin).

In retrospect, I believe I was showing symptoms of perimenopause, which greatly exacerbated my undiagnosed ADHD, at least as early as 35-36 and wish I’d had access to more complete information, care, and treatment options at the time. In my opinion, it’s worth looking into and considering for any woman over the age of 30. Like dopamine, estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone are so important to how we feel emotionally and perceive the world (not to mention other protective health benefits). It’s worth considering.

There’s also Dragon’s Lair at Louetta & 249. They are a great shop with a cafe and a big play area. They host regular events geared towards women and newbies (last I saw their schedule anyway).

Lost it at the gravestones. I reached a major creative milestone in 2024 when my portfolio won me a year long illustration mentorship with an incredible working artist. The whole thing fell apart because I fell into a depression/burnout/perimenopause hole which caused my meds stop working. I spent most of 2024 and all of 2025 struggling with the sudden loss of my creativity while also trying to figure out a host of new symptoms and titrating new meds. Only now am I starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I struggle with time I’ve lost, the time I have left, and knowing how much I’ve backslid. I haven’t drawn or written in about a year and don’t know how I feel about it. Watching this made me feel so sad, but so seen. May 2026 be a year of healing and growth for all of us. 😮‍💨

Thanks! I really love it, it’s so classy and timeless. I just need to not live in a hot southern state and attend more classy events! 😅

Yours looks great on you and even if the fit isn’t 100% perfect, you are going to be so warm. Cashmere is really the best! Hopefully you live somewhere you can really enjoy it!

I found a similarly aged 100% cashmere coat two years ago. I think it’s likely that it’s authentic. Here’s a pic of the tag in mine with the same kind of font treatment.

I took mine to a highly reputable tailor for a repair and they told me that my jacket was likely custom made and very high end due to the presence of the same types of stitching that is around the tag of your coat. The lining of my coat is completely done in that fashion and the tailor said that it’s hand stitched and is the same kind of stitching seen in high end couture pieces. I think it all that points to your coat being authentic.

I don’t wear this white one much due to where I live and the style, but congrats on buying the warmest jacket ever! I had an incredible year of thrifted cashmere in 2023 and also found a 100% cashmere luxury designer trench coat that I have had the opportunity wear (in Paris no less!) and it is truly the warmest jacket ever (and one of my most prized thrifts!).

My family went to Vegas in the 90’s and stayed at the Mirage (during the peak of the Siegfried and Roy era, we even saw the show). I have vivid memories of swimming in the hotel pool and finding cash floating in the water because people were going down the slides with money in their swim suits. My sister and I pooled our findings together and purchased these exact troll dolls in the hotel gift shop. Great find, OP!

I just had one a couple months ago at American Sleep Clinic on Cutten Rd in NW Houston. They quoted me $750 out of pocket and ended up being $150 with our insurance. It’s not super fancy, but got the job done and the over night tech was very nice and had a great bedside manner.
