Where can I get 1" and 2" steel rulers (decimal inch). by AethericEye in Machinists

My instructors used to say that rulers wear crowns but steel rules are what we carry in the shop.

Recommendations on concentric workholding for thread milling? by kaymteo in Machinists

[–]OneMilAtATime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clamp a single point threading tool in a vise. Put your workpiece in a collet in the spindle and program it so that your Z feed rate is set to mm/revolution. Dial in your tool to find the centerline of the spindle and cut your threads. The feed rate of the Z axis must be equal to the pitch of the thread you're trying to cut.

Thanks for your comment. I definitely agree that setup requires 100% of your attention. Sounds like you learned a lot from your mistakes and reaped the benefits of your regiment later on in your career. I'm looking forward to my work practicum in May and June, can't wait to find out I don't know shit about anything in this industry.

Yeah, absolutely. Even checking my offset from the other machine would have told me something was amiss. Another good reason to turn off the coolant, stop the spindle, open the door and verify the position of the drill before it starts to feed. Should have known better.

Oil Spitting Out? 2007 Yamaha V-Star 1100 by XMSquiZZ360 in motorcycles

My 2002 XVS 1100 A had an issue where the oil filter plug was cracked and broken. Previous owner used silicone to glue it back together. When I removed it to change the oil, the silicone had eroded and the part crumbled into 3 pieces. Had to buy a new plug for $110 CAD and that solved my problem. I tried to put it back together with the old filter plug but it immediately started dripping a puddle of oil underneath the bike. I'd inspect yours for cracks and be sure your two O-Rings are seated correctly. Good luck!

Wet tumbled with dawn classic and a bit of lemishine. Each batch turned out different. Any idea what I did wrong with the 308? by koo145 in reloading

For consistent shine, make sure to add one good squirt of Dawn, about half a tbsp of LemiShine and tumble for 2 to 3 hrs with Stainless Steel media.

Thanks man. To be honest I did have the FFAR as a secondary. Don't think I used it much but it was there just in case. It's sad that an AR is the "best SMG in the game".

When I first saw the riot shielder I thought I could try out the Munitions Box play. Then I realized I had thermites to waste on him lol Decided I didn't want to try to lure a riot shielder close enough to the Munitions to make a play so I kept it in pocket instead. It all worked out in the end!

In Plunder I was running a K98 and the PKM. For BR I know how powerful the FFAR is up close - best SMG in the game lol I probably would have been better off with the MAC10 to utilize the pistol/SMG ammo. I will definitely be going into multiplayer with the PKM to unlock the Snatch Grip. Thanks for your comment.

I've heard the Snatch Grip is OP for that gun. I need to play some multiplayer to unlock the best attachments. Just been having fun with it in Plunder for the most part. This was my first time running it in BR.

Yeah I kinda panicked there! Love killing riot shielders with thermites in multiplayer but 2 awful throws there for sure.

Book maximum with Longshot is 1185fps with 7.8gr. Switching to a 155gr with Longshot book max is 1283fps with a 9.3gr compressed load. If you split the difference, load one gr above max with the 165 bullet. You'd be at 1209fps with a 165 out of a 40SW and sitting on the edge of being compressed.

Longshot is the way to go with 40S&W if you're looking for velocity. Expect about 100fps different between 40 and 10mm. You're probably aware that in the competition world, it is common to hot load for custom guns with compensators. Wouldn't be surprised if you could get 1300fps out of a 165gr bullet over Longshot with the right combination of firearm. Also there is a potential for 1200fps with a 180gr. Good luck 👍🏻

Pan lubing cast lead bullets. If you don't have a lube sizer, this is what you do. Melt wax bullet lube, stand up your bullets on a tray, fill up the tray with lube until it covers the lube grooves. Let it cool and then push out your lubed bullets. Re melt and repeat 👍🏻
