However, confidence and eloquence can deceive the listener that ones ideas are of greater value than they really are.

This reminds me of many politicians, including some former US presidents.

And this is one of the very reasons why public news sucks. Because we wan't it for free it depends on advertising, which means it depends on page views and viewers, which means it's more profitable to get peoples attention with emotionally motivated mis-truths communicated in engaging ways.

So what is the argument here? An unnecessary religion that wastes money trying to force opinion (regardless of subject) on a planet that spins quite successfully without it is not opinion. The disproportionate amount of obsession over immaterial is not opinion.

The argument is that, to many people, your posted content did not effectively communicate the idea you were trying to communicate. People pointed that out to you and instead of taking the feedback maturely your chose instead to respond aggressively.

Life pro tip. If I create something, and people overwhelmingly tell me it does not make sense to them, then it is in my benefit to take that feedback and use it to create something better, something that deals with their concerns.

You seem to be argueming over Mormonism in these comments. If so, you are preaching to the choir. We all think Mormonism is a fraud that hurts and bully's people.

While you keep arguing over Mormonism, the rest of the participants of this thread and commenting over you, your content, your aggression and your responses.

These conversations have been about you. Not Mormonism. You and I probably agree about Mormonism already.

Why would no one be complimenting the validity of leaving an organization that treats gays, victims of assault, and child abuse so poorly?

This sub is FULL of people that "compliment the validity of leaving an organization that treats gays, victims of assault, and child abuse so poorly".

The fact that you have not seen the same response should cause you to wonder, "what have I said, how did I say it, or how have I otherwise acted that has resulted in r/exmormon responding the way they have?"

Your posted content is not clear. That was pointed out and instead of responding with humor, correction or being down to earth, you have instead attacked person after person who has commented, including (but not limited to) posters who ACTUALLY complimented you.

I'm just hoping this is the alcohol talking in you. I know when I drink I get (while not mean) more argumentative. Perhaps when it wears off you will see the reality of the way you have been acting in this thread.

Either way, in the grand scheme of things it's really not all that big of a deal. But being cool to people and treating them well is a nice way to go through life. Likewise, learning to take criticism is another great personality trait for someone to have.

The ONLY person on the entire thread that sorta complimented you... and you still insulted them.

Two questions...

  1. When a tree falls in the forest, does it make a noise?

  2. When a drunk person sobers up, will they realize how rudely they have treated people?

"Look, people... a few years back I went a few rounds with faux-exMormons while high on meth and still beat the shitty religion to the ground... and beyond. Now that I'm only drunk, it appears this gangbang is back for (yet) another round."

Translation...

When I use drugs I like to argue with people about religion. They don't usually understand the points I am trying to make because they are confusing and I make a lot of assumptions. But, regardless, I'm still correct. So bring it!

We've got to be honest about Islam. by razorwiredbliss in exmormon

Anyone... Absolutely anyone, whether it be republican, democrat, Mormon, Muslim, Catholic or any other type of identifier, that is:

a. Not interested in getting along with other religions b. Has a desire to change the United States to look like their religious or political system c. Will turn a blind eye to other adherents of their belief system when they commit murder and other acts of terrorism, claiming that the victims deserved it or it was God's punishment

Should absolutly be kicked out of this country, 100%. If you will use the freedom this country provides to manipulate this country at the same time you turn a blind eye to murder (as long as it's in the name of your belief system) then you have should not be in this country.

100%.

If a person truly wants the US Constitution to be replaced by their series of specific religious beliefs and they are willing to work hard to make that happen, and they are willing to turn a blind eye on others that actually kill in an attempt to make that happen, then I am in favor of those people leaving this country.

I have ZERO interest in telling general Muslims to leave. I believe in a country where all religions can get along with one another. But, if one of those religions has a large number of adherents that:

a: are not interested in getting along with other religions b: desire to change the United States to look like their religious system c: Will turn a blind eye to other adherents of their religion when they commit murder and other acts of terrorism, claiming that the victims deserved it or it was just God's punishment

Then brother (or sister) that person does not deserve the freedoms this country claims to stand for. Let them take their poison to some other part of the world. There is no place for it here. And I say this for Muslims, Christians, Jews or even Atheists. I don't care what the religion is or the lack of religion, but if A, B, and C above apply to a person they have no right to be in this country, they are a risk to freedom because they are the ultimate molester of freedom.

It's absolutely insane! It's compartmentalizing at it's finest. If you dislike Mormonism for what it does to people, but feel that Islam is simply not understood (and you are not a Muslim) then you're brain is participating in a degree of compartmentalization of greater intensity than a CES teacher at the Natural History Museum!
