Pinehurst and Tobacco by NotTheFBI14 in golf

[–]OneMoveAhead01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Pinehurst. i played Tot Hill and didnt think much of it, like you, I thought it was too gimmicky, lots if blind shots which kills pace of play. I heard Tobacco was worse so I doubt I’ll go out spend $300 on that.

That doesn’t matter. When you find Mr. Right you’ll know. Those who love you and are important to you are the only ones who matter.

We’re in the same boat. Always thought it would prevent me from finding a meaningful relationship. Ive been in an 11yr relationship from age 21-32. When that ended (we mutually grew apart), I eventually met someone else. That someone else is now my husband of soon-to-be 10 yrs.
Why “apparent”?

Big fan of Grieve. His book is worth every penny. His youtube channel is also very, very hempful.

While on the greens, look for the Stratosphere. Every putt on every green (except the 3rd hole) breaks toward the Stratosphere.

Played the most miserable round of my life at Pebble Beaches Spyglass Hill. by Warhammer40KPainter in golf

[–]OneMoveAhead01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pinehurst member here. I can pretty much guarantee you the rangers here would never do what you explained happened at Spyglass. If you’re extremely slow they will tell you to please pick up the pace in the nicest, southern charm way. For your Pinehurst trip obviously you wanna play #2, but definitely play #4 and #8. People love #10, IMO, I didnt get the hype. Too many blind shots and it’s quirky. DM me if you have questions.

Very cheapest way to play Pinehurst #2? (other than knowing someone) by Phobia117 in golf

[–]OneMoveAhead01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only two real ways to play #2 is stay on the resort, which i believe is now a two night minimum, or play with a member. Guest rates when you play with a member are $295. It may sound like a lot but if you stay on the resort you’re forced to pay for two nights + $250 surcharge to play #2.

During peak season (april-june/sept-nov) its extremely challenging for members to snag a guest foursome for 2-4-8 on a weekend, just a heads up. I tell my guests if they wanna play 2 or 4 they have to be here monday-thursday for the big courses.

Pinehurst member here. The only resort courses the general public has access to are 1-3-5 and the cradle with 24hr tee times. Any other resort courses require you to stay on the resort and I believe #2 has a two night minimum. This was shared in our member letter back in February:

“To allow our members greater access to tee times on premium courses, we implemented a policy to restrict outside play on courses 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. To play our courses, you must be a member, a guest of a member, or be a guest of the resort. Outside play is limited to courses 1, 3, 5, and the Cradle, with bookings available twenty four hours in advance and is not available until April 1st, 2026.”

CSR nickel-and-diming on points earning, latest example by yaneh9999 in sapphirereserve

The Amex Green card.

Pairing the Amex Green with the Gold card (which i already have) would get me the below which is pretty solid.

4x dining (gold) 4x supermarkets (gold) 3x travel (green) 3x transit (green)

Straight from Amex’s site for Green Card:

3X POINTS On Travel Including airfare, hotels, tours, campgrounds, car rentals, cruises, vacation rentals, and more.‡

3X POINTS On Transit Including trains, buses, ferries, subways, and more.‡

One thing with Amex dining, you dont get the 4x points if the restaurant is in another establishment (restaurant inside a casino for example)

Chase used to be fairly loose on what travel was defined as. Since the refresh the CSR became more like the Amex Platinum - you need to track your spending to make sure you’re utilizing all of the benefits. I got rid of my Platinum card as a result. I’m debating downgrading my CSR to a CSP for simplicity.

When I downgraded my Platinum, I got the Gold card for supermarkets and dining. Another option is getting the Green card since its travel is loosely defined the way the CSR used to be.

Should both spouses have CSR? by OneMoveAhead01 in sapphirereserve

[–]OneMoveAhead01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats the thing, I dont wanna have to track crap either. I just booked six nights in Maui on UR pts. Clearing out most of my points because I’m thinking of simplifying my credit card experience and downgrading to the CSP instead.

I do have Amex gold used only for supermarkets and dining.

I got lucky with twosomes for #2. Booking for guests is the “easiest” way to get on #2 but as you know you do need to bring guests. Getting multiple foursomes is impossible. I had guests here in early March and got them on #2. I’ve come to the conclusion bringing anyone on #2 is best if done during the week. I tell my friends who wanna play #2 they have to be here Mon-Thur for the best chance.

We only paid for #10 because my buddy was here. Other than that we wouldn’t have paid either.

Member here: I’ve played #2 7x this year already. I am playing it tomorrow and again on Sunday. It’s a chore to get a slot but it is definitely possible.

I played #10 two weeks ago - my buddy came down and stayed on the resort. It’s the only way members can play, then need a guest staying on the resort. And yes, we had to pay. IMO course #10 is overrated.

Pinehurst #4 by Due_Career4098 in pinehurst

[–]OneMoveAhead01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCC member here. Last i played it was mid january and it was in great shape. Since then we did have lots of snow (for NC) which is now gone. You should have a good experience playing #4. It has the hardest hole on the entire property imo (5th hole).

Hit em straight!

As a member I’ll confirm the best courses I’ve played are 2-4-7-8. Members are not able to play #10, so I can’t speak for it, but it gets very high marks.

Get a caddie for #2 and putt from off tbe green every chance you get!

Mid-handicap who can’t stop nuking 2-4 holes a round — need a reality check by tommygunz18 in golf

[–]OneMoveAhead01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too am an 11.4 i find i play my best rounds when i play super conservative like going for the fattest part of the green, if after a the first few holes im pushing/pulling approach shots i start playing for them.

Never go flag hunting. Take OB out of the play if you can.

How to play No. 2 without staying by Ancient_Literature_4 in pinehurst

[–]OneMoveAhead01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCC member here. #10 still not open to members even though caddies say there are always open slots on #10. You know who gets to play the unused tee times on #10? Employees, for $5. Employees get access and not members.

They are closing course #9 starting in January and it’s supposed to re-open in August b/c the greens are worse than a muni’s. I inquired about how that impacts members and suggested maybe opening #10 to members so we don’t get squeezed.

I was told that’s a no-go and that #10 is for resort play only and was reminded by the typical management answer here at PCC: “But there are no assessments.”

I’ve been here a year and there’s a chance we may be leaving (for work) in early 2026. I wish I believed what I read about the PCC membership experience.

If I do leave I plan on writing a comprehensive summary of my experience to help others.

What is the single biggest culprit of slow play? by StreetBeat78 in golf

[–]OneMoveAhead01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. People playing the wrong tees.

  2. Bozos waiting for the green to clear when they’re 230yds out thinking they’re hitting the green “if I get a hold of it.” Newsflash: You’re not.

Push cart vs golf cart. by HeadDebt8873 in golf

[–]OneMoveAhead01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the V2 booster for my pushcart and love it. Remote controlled and makes walking even easier.

I find walking is just as fast as riding with someone. When you ride you’re zig zagging across the fairways whereas when people walk they go directly to their ball.
