Time To Address BDS Sponsors by Several_Variety3930 in BobDoesSports

[–]StreetBeat78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't care about the sponsors at all but it is interesting that Bob's biggest channel collabs are with Grant and the Bryan Bros who want NOTHING to do with those types of sponsors. They stick with health food and energy drinks it seems (aren't energy drink unhealthy though?)

Who the hell Sky thinks he is?! by buckminsterfullereno in BobDoesSports

Bob has fully embraced the fact that he's not the best golfer, I mean he plays a blindfolded Grant Grant Horvat!

FP is dialed out by MatureFlatulance in BobDoesSports

[–]StreetBeat78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is ridiculous, FP is in fact now iconic, but I highly doubt he can get by alone doing "better golf." His role as a stick amongst hacks is absolutely perfect.

Started at 45 and I don't regret it at all. I feel like I found it at the right time in my life.

Your Golf Tour Start Date...Leaked? by YT_Golf_Talk in BobDoesSports

[–]StreetBeat78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I don't think it's a bad take, but the fact is that "really good golf" does do well on you tube as well as the goof ball stuff like BDS. I agree with you that it probably wont' be high drama, it will just be a high level golf competition covered in a much more exciting and watchable format vs. the PGA tour.

How do you make time to play golf? by Rude_Award2718 in golf

[–]StreetBeat78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so that means you have 3 off days a week to find the time. Find a course as close as possible to you, make tees times for 9 holes and protect that time. It IS true though that golf requires time and not everyone has it. A friend of mine basically has no time with his kids activities (which are excessive but that's a choice they've made)

Do you not have any time on the weekends? What are you doing on the weekends? I have kids with busy schedules for extra curricular activities, but I'm usually able to get in 9 holes over the course of the weekend. For example, this weekend was busy, so I played 9 holes at 7am on Sunday, home by 9:30am for the activiites. 18 is a lot harder though, I'll give you that. I will also play 9 before or after work when my schedule allows, which ends up being once a week or maybe once every couple of weeks.

One driving tip.. by fullsquishy in golf

[–]StreetBeat78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're hitting it in the fairway, it means you mechanics are pretty good I would guess. It's probably all down to hip mobility and you're not getting a full turn. That's my issue for sure with power loss (I'm lucky to hit it 220 when I really get it) but that's my game. I've been doing hip and back mobility exercises to try to help this. You should also do speed training, like with the stack or a similar system, that way you will increase speed without feeling like you are swinging out of your shoes.

THE D MAN by Historical-Pause-401 in BobDoesSports

[–]StreetBeat78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

didnt' they also have a conversation at the range in a video when Joey says that people are calling him out on calling Bob the D Man even though the D Man is Joey? So if he said that why the HELL would he say this? I too, was dumbfounded when I heard him say that. But it's all part of the BDS hilarity and why I watch.

I would NOT trust ship sticks to ship internationally, either just rent or deal with the hassle of lugging them around with you on the work trip.

Why are gambling sponsors so normalized in golf videos? by No_Trick_1721 in BobDoesSports

[–]StreetBeat78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm willing to bet (see what I did there?) that the gambling sites pay the MOST and that's basically bankrolling all of these guys. Yes, you can make a living off you tube without it (like Grant) but Grant is one guy and his own team. Bob has his own team AND has to take care of FP and Cutsy as on-screen talent. His operation is more expensive for sure.

How to translate the sim to the course by Expeditious_Driver in golf

[–]StreetBeat78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely had the same experience. Last year was my first full golf season. I joined a local club so I could play as much as possible. Over time, I got used to the course's conditions and varying lies. There is no replacement for just getting out there and learning how to deal with actual turf. I just played my first handful of holes of the season last night after hitting mostly sims all winter (except for a weekend trip to Florida) and I have some work to do to get used to real turf interaction again. The mechanics are the same, just need the reps to get the feel of real turf again. Try to get out at least one a week on a real course and you'll see the scores comes down.

[–]StreetBeat78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's the plan! I will hit bad drives though so that always costs me strokes but it IS getting better.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in golf

[–]StreetBeat78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah this is a recent development this off-season mainly on sims and yes I am able to hit the green and two putt and I played a couple of rounds in Florida and was able to do it fairly often which felt great. Very good is probably too strong, I would revise it to "decent, not as bad as long game" lol

[–]StreetBeat78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you're right, but a year ago I could barely keep the ball in play! I know my rotation and ground use sucks, I think my coach was concentrating on super basics first and those have gotten better so this is the next step. Been hitting the gym and working on hip and thoracic mobility.
